Rereading Words of Radiance with my wife and I noticed something from when pattern and Shallan are talking. It says that there were others.. plural. Not another. Then he mentioned it is a pattern. We know that Testament was bonded earlier, but I was just wondering if there are theories about how more spren have bonded with Shallan? Sanderson has said that her progress isn't quite a straight line, more like two steps forward and one step back. Maybe she has to get over the breaking of many oaths, not just a singular one? Anyway, just wondering if the multiple previous spren has been a thought others have had before?

He’s possibly talking about all the spren who died in the Recreance, not just Testament. (That’s how I interpreted it at least, but you could be picking up on some sneaky foreshadowing - I suppose we’ll have to wait for SA5 to find out :))

I'm also thought it was talking about the Recreance, since Pattern has said to Shallan many times that she would kill him. He said that pretty soon after being bonded and unless he was basing that claim off of the Recreance I don't know why he would know it so quickly.
I do like the idea of Shallan having broken more bonds, there is so much unexplained in her past.

It is probably a reference to the Recreance, and not to other spren bonds she had ended. Also, I think Pattern was quite "young" at that point, and probably hadn't gathered all of his memories yet, and I don't think he knew Shallan had killed Testament. It seems the Honorspren hadn't known who had killed Testament, only that it had happened recently, so I doubt Pattern would. However, I do find this theory really interesting. It also makes me think about the painful psychological impacts of ending multiple spren bonds, which has never been done, as far as we know.
