"Alright," Jane layed down and drifted into a light, defensive sleep, although her eyes were so tired that it didn't take long.

Sharpo let himself relax a little, after seeing her fall asleep. He drifted in and out of consciousness himself, but was never completely out all night.

"Hey, I need to sleep." Jane had changed her mind. Though she presented herself coldly to them at first, she realized that it wasn't sustainable for her to keep an eye on them all night. She needed to sleep, and she somehow trusted them a little more after conversation, though she doubted they felt the same way. Still, if she were to be attacked at night, there was nothing to be done, for the less sleep she had, the less prepared she'd be for the next day. Her trust for Sharpo and Kaza would have to do for now. And they still needed her and her supplies and her resources. Typically, this kept one alive. Long enough, at least.

"Do you mind?" She went from a sitting position to a crouch, about to lay down near them.

"I'm not gonna stop you from sleeping," he mumbled, scooting away from her and closer to Kaza.

"I try to visit as often as I can. Honestly, this guy doesn't know when to get his brain out of the clouds, and himself out of trouble."

"That's nice," Her smiled faded for the first time. "Unfortunately, your correct to assume I'm here because of him."

Louis sighed loudly. "I'm sure whatever you think this young man has done--"

"Oh don't worry Louis, I'm quite sure of this." Dert said, standing, "Though it's nothing serious, at least from what I'm aware. As always, I'm simply here to make sure things don't get out of hand."

"You are Sharp'i McDonald, aren't you?"

    "Yes . . ." he replied nervously.

"What, you mean my boyfriend?" she turns to him. "You promised you would stay out of trouble, remember?" She turns back to Dert. "Pleaseeeeee can you cut him a break just this once? I promise I'll keep him in line. He just wanted to come with me to see my relatives. You can understand, right?"

    Spoiler

    lol-

Sharp'i blushed a little at being called her boyfriend.

"He's your boyfriend?" Dert asked, "Fascinating, it must be hard keeping up a long distance relationship."

  5. 1 minute ago, TheRavenHasLanded said:

"Well! I'm glad about that." She sighs. "Thank you for your services, Madam."

"Your welcome, I'm always here to serve."

But then her eyes shifted to Sharp'i.

"Unfortunately, that isn't the reason for my visit today."

  6. 1 minute ago, Lotus Blossom said:

"I hope not to leave too soon," she shrugged, and held her hands out to the fire for warmth.

"Alright . . ." He lay down next to the fire, feeling exhausted. He didn't want to fall asleep yet--he didn't trust Jane quite yet. But it was getting harder to stay awake. Running around a haunted mansion after walking several miles can really take it out of kid.

Kandy lets a moment of "oohhh that makes sense" pass over her face. "Ohhhhh yeah... true. is there anything we should be worried about? i would hate" she makes a pouty face "to have something bad to happen to us because of those people..."

"You don't need to be afraid dear," Dert said reassuringly, "the program has been completely successful--we haven't encountered any suspicious activity here in Amyra Ay, and I'm sure it's the same for your home district."

  8. 1 hour ago, TheRavenHasLanded said:

She just snorts in slight annoyance. "That is true..."

"Seeing as you two have traveled here, I think I ought to explain why I'm usually here." Dert settled back into the sofa like she was right at home. "The government has decided to send us Inspectors out to keep on eye on families that previously employed tributes, and their real families as well," she sent a glance at Sarah. "The Games brings our nation together, but we worry about the small chance some people might be . . . restless, because of their direct connection to the games. I'm simply here to make sure all is well."

"And it is," Louis said, "As it has been on all of your visits."

"Is it?" She asked with a smirk.

  9. 1 hour ago, TheRavenHasLanded said:

Kandy doesnt skip a beat. "True, but we just wanted to come down and say hi anyways. The hunger games were never fun for anybody!"

"On the contrary, the games bring the nation together." Her smile was all too bright, "And my work get's more interesting."

  10. Just now, Lotus Blossom said:

"I haven't forgotten our conversation thus far, if that helps you in any way."

"Oh, I'm not surprised, generally people forget after I leave them for a few hours y'know? they can't forget if I'm actively with them." He glanced at Kaza, then back at her.

  11. The start of Stormlight fanfic thing for an OC I made that I haven't finished yet: (this is like a first chapter maybe idk)

(I should clarify that it takes place in the time skip between Oathbringer and RoW)

    Spoiler

Lu hummed to himself as walked. The barren land on the wayside wasn’t helping his already sour mood, so he hoped humming would raise his spirits. It did not.

Dry blades of grass slipped below ground as they passed, revealing the muddy path. Everything in the Unclaimed Hills was covered in mud, Lu had found. Everything was brown, too. It made Lu’s cerulean complexion stick out like a lady who didn’t want to be caught wearing the same dress as everyone else. He hoped that whatever beasts lived in the hills wouldn’t eat him first.

“Would you quit that?” Makilo called from his horse. “It’s annoying.”

    Lu hummed louder.

A few guards in the caravan snickered. Makilo grumbled something about ‘new natanan rabble’ but didn’t press it further. The large Azish man was quite a sight, sitting on a grey horse that looked small in comparison. His bright orange and yellow robes made Lu feel a little better for breaking the brown monochrome. Perhaps the beasts would eat him first. Lu wouldn’t mind.

Genju slid up to the path, forming a little vine as she went. The grass blades didn’t sink down for the small spren, in fact,  they didn’t seem to mind her at all. Lu had sent her to scout out their destination. The sun had begun setting, and it was clear they wouldn’t reach it today. Still, he was curious how much longer they had to go at this.

“It’s about . . . hmmm . . . maybe 10 more Bodoos.” She said as she slid off of the path and curled around his ankle.

“What’s a Bodoo?” Lu asked, taking a break from his vengeful humming.

“It’s a special measuring device I made just for you! Do you like it?”

    “It’s lovely but . . . how big is a Bodoo?”

Makilo glanced back at Lu, trying not to be obvious about it. He always got curious whenever Lu started to ‘talk to himself’.

“Well,” Genju grew a few leaves in thought, “I don’t know, I made it up.”

“So . . . you don’t know how far we have left to go?”

“Nope!” She exclaimed. “I didn’t like it there Lu . . . I didn't want to go, there were too many people.”

“Wasn’t the whole point of coming to this realm learning about humans and junk?”

“I learned about you,” Genju replied, “That’s more than enough.”

    “Right . . .”

Makilo held up his hand, signaling the caravan to stop. “We’ll make camp here for the night.” With another glance at Lu, he got off his horse and moved to help the others set up.

The main group moved off of the road, and settled their wagons in a circle to its side. The grass politely slid into the ground for them as they did so. Makilo’s guards and other traveling companions laughed and talked as they unpacked food for the night, glad to finally rest.

Lu crouched down to study the brown grass that fashionably matched the brown mud. He was very good at making himself look busy. But in an instant, Makilo had come up behind him, as always. Genju tightened on Lu's ankle, the large man always made her uncomfortable.

“Are you having a vision?” He asked quietly.

“Yes,” Lu said flatly, “Tomorrow at sunset a white spine is going to give you a birthday present.”

The large man sighed. “If only you took things seriously Lu, you would have so much potential.”

Not the potential speech again. “Annoying you is far more fun.”

“You're still young,” Makilo said with a smirk, “I understand not wanting to do what you're told . . . Storms, with your whole life ahead of you, you don’t want anyone to hold you back.”

Lu tuned out, fascinated by the grass.

“But someday you’ll come around to understand that I’m giving you a stable future now.”

    What beautiful brown blades.

“You can wander around and waste your youth on one thing or another, but one day you’ll realize you passed up the opportunity of a lifetime.”

“Right,” Lu said, poking his finger at the ground and watching the grass retreat.

“So, don’t give me sass when I ask you a genuine question, I’m trying to help fully realize the power inside you.”

    “Right.”

Makilo sighed, and shook his head. “You don’t even listen to me anymore, do you?”

“Yup,” Lu said, standing. “But in my defense you always say the same thing.”

“I repeat myself because you don’t listen.”

“And I don’t listen because you repeat yourself,” Lu said as he brushed himself off.

The sound of voices in the background rose as a group of men got a campfire going. The smell of dinner started to waft their way.

“And for the record, I don’t see visions,” Lu muttered as he walked off to the camp fire.

He started humming again, hoping it would make him feel better. It didn’t.

Have I abandoned Demons of El out of boredom? Maybe? We'll see.

Her eyes widened, "You're no child of the capital, then."

Unfortunately, at the same time his words hurt her. He had done nothing to offend her, but still, something stung.

'People also tend to forget about me.'

    Until they want you dead.

    Then you become quite important.

"No . . . I am, but then they took us and made us into servants. The whole . . . forgetting thing started before that though." He didn't seem to notice her reaction.

  13. 7 minutes ago, Lotus Blossom said:

"Where you come from- do they not do so?"

"Y'know . . . servant, do what your told without being noticed, that sort of thing," he said, waving his hands around vaguely. "People also tend to forget about me, which doesn't help."

  14. 1 minute ago, Lotus Blossom said:

"I am. I'm just..." She broke eye contact for a moment, then caught her falter and looked back up, "Just managing expectations. For all of us."

"Note that I said try. I will not kill myself easily for you."

    ". . . sounds good, but uh . . ."

"Why are you staring at me?"

  15. 8 minutes ago, Lotus Blossom said:

"We will, I'm sure. Still, I will keep that to last resort. In that case, I give you full permission to try to kill me. It will be harder for you and Kaza to kill each other, I'm sure. It's safer for me here, though. Enjoy yourself. Let us preserve the ties we can, and sever those that matter less. It's only a matter of time."

"Okay . . you don't seemed super determined to get out."

  16. Just now, Lotus Blossom said:

"I was aware; so was my reply," Jane said with a light smile.

1 minute ago, Lotus Blossom said:

"I think it is in both our interests to stay alive."

"Of course, I'm not an idiot." He glanced at Kaza, "At least not anymore . . ."

"I simply hope we don't have to turn on each other by the end of this--even though it is likely."

  17. 5 minutes ago, Lotus Blossom said:

"I forgive you," Jane said, and pursed her lips slightly.

4 hours ago, justice magician said:

"The apology was sarcastic," He said dryly, but he didn't press it further.

6 minutes ago, Lotus Blossom said:

    Jane Cora Rae."

She had memorized those words for years now.

"Nice to meet you, I hope our acquaintance doesn't end with death."

"Housekeeping, mostly. We were also coming down to help with finding a new servant for them as well."

She tilts her head, "Is that really something they need help with? Honestly you could go get yourself a new maid right now--and you wouldn't have to go get it yourself. They do still have a maid left, y'know."

Dirt chuckled in a good-natured way, "Don't think I'm judging--it's my job to be suspicious."

She settled down on a sofa opposite them without being invited. Sarah offered her some tea, but Dert declined it.

Kandy gives a thumbs up. "Sounds good."

Sarah nodded, and left. Soon, she returned with the new guest.

Inspector Dert was wearing a white uniform, stark against all of the black decorations in the house. She had honey colored hair and a round, pleasant face. Dert appeared to be only a few years older than Sharp'i and Kandy.

"I didn't expect you to be entertaining other guests Louis," She said with a smile, "It's out of character for you."

"I suppose it has been a while . . ." Louis shrugged, "These are relatives of my mother, they came from another district to visit."
