  1. I'd love a free signed copy. I prefer hardback to paper and I need more hardback Sanderson books, rather than just electronic copies. Thanks for running a give away!
  2. I don't remember seeing that spiritual-gravitational quote before... It sort of makes me wonder what the whole planet's Spiritual aspect would look like compared to a person's or, say, an starship. If it has a Spiritweb, then theoretically wouldn't you be Spike a part of it Hemalurgically onto a different Spiritweb? Anyways that's slightly off-topic, but if it's a Spiritual link that anchors the bubble to the planet then where we perceive it and think of it being anchored should have no effect, as that is a Cognitive interaction. It would have to be side-stepped via Feruchemy, as Kurkistan says in the post above. Duralumin Ferrings can store Connection, does that extend to your Spiritual Connection with inanimate objects?
  3. Huh, well that shoots down part of the theory. But as Chaos said, it wouldn't have to necessarily be the focus as such but just be the Physical part of Awakening. I agree with Truthless, we probably need a better definition of focus in order to understand it better. Has Brandon confirmed any other foci that I am not aware of?
  4. I agree that the Shardworld determines the focus, as opposed to it being the Shard's choice. While I was looking through the Interview Database I ran across a question that Chaos asked that made me think. http://www.theoryland.com/intvmain.php?i=691 While this was RAFO'ed, it made me think that the focus, rather than Commands or art, is color. Color is necessary for Awakening, and is used up in the process. Metal on Scadrial is consumed in the process of Burning it. The fact that Shards on Scadrial are blind to the focus, leads me to wonder as to the true purpose of the Artisan's Script on Nalthis. Warbreaker pdf PG 49 By writing in this script, they have essentially blinded Endowment to all communication with the God King (and possibly other communications), since he cannot speak and is only supposed to know the Artisan's Script. One of the things I find amusing in this section is how Brandon almost comes out and says it, "an alphabet that was a nightmare for the colorblind." This strongly implicates that, in my opinion, Endowment and all shards that come to Nalthis are blind to the Artisan's Script.
  5. First of all, I agree that this theory is very likely true and it makes a lot of sense, but one of the quotes from Brandon made me want to add on to the theory a bit. That "in this world" bit makes me think that rather than the lack of a physical aspect limiting your cognitive aspect in its entirety, it may limit how well it can interact with anything in the physical realm. Another example besides Syl, for this is found in the symbol head spren. They have no physical aspect to speak of and can only be glimpsed in Memories (or possibly mirrors). Despite the lack of physical aspect, they are very sentient when they speak to Shallan in shadesmar.
  6. Awesome. Just awesome. I loved Androl's use of gateways. One of my favorite moments is probably when Aviendha reverses Graendals compulsion, a fitting twist of fate. Mats eccentricities, Cadsuane being pushed into leading...I couldn't even list how many moments were just perfect! One question though, doesn't this seem like an Aes Sedai lying outright? page 131 Still, easily my favorite book in the series.
  7. I was looking around in the interview database when I found the below quote saying that that no one on the south pole has injested Lerasium, so there are few Mistings and no Mistborn there. As for the name, I doubt there is any hard evidence at the moment to draw from, but since it was an RAFO it may be referenced in a book he hasn't written/published yet, or not.
  8. I think it's more likely that ralkalest just has such an unknown past that no one can forge it. Say it is a normal meteorite, not souls of gods meteorite, and everyone was trying to tell it that it came from a quarry? the seal would not take, and it would be unforgeable. The only problem with this is that someone has to know where to they found it, so they would know if it was in a crater or a quarry. But it could be that said meteorite had long since been covered over, so it seems like it came from the planet.
  9. The one talking about breaking the land itself seems to refer to the Shattered Plains. Plus the tower and other rock formations have "reached towards the heavens". And all the world was shattered! The rocks trembled with their steps, and the stones reached towards the heavens. We die! We die! They break the land itself! They want it, but in their rage they will destroy it. Like the jealous man burns his things rather than let them be taken by his enemies! They come! This next quote gave me an idea. All throughout the book we "know" reached Storm light powers the magic. Stormlight glows white, and while this does make sense for the Knights Radiant, it does not for the Voidbringers. While I realize that it's mentioned Voidbringers may hold Stormlight perfectly, I believe it may actually be "voidlight" or something like the Midnight Essence is made of in Dalinar' s visions. This makes sense that the Voidbringers would "bring darkness" then. Also, the orb of darkness at the start of the book may contain "Voidlight. " (this also makes sense with what we learned about why the parshendi killed the king, if it could somehow release voidlight into the world again. ANYTHING REASONABLE They are aflame. They burn. They bring darkness when they come, and so all you can see is that their skin is aflame. Burn, burn, burn… -Collected on Palahishev, 1172, 21 seconds pre-death. Subject was a baker’s apprentice If there is a thread that this has already been brought up on I apologize and could you point me there? ,But if not, what do you think? Holes? Possible? Edit: Actually now I see that voidlight has been brought up before, so kudos to whoever thought of it first!
  10. Tap iron while giving yourself a partial lashing up. Store pewter and put on shardplate. Awaken carpet to "fly to work"
  11. I don't know if this has been corrected since I downloaded Warbreaker, but on page 501 (according to the page numbers) Vivenna is speaking with Vasher at the court of the returned when suddenly it says that lightsong answers her.
  12. When Sazed took both Ruin and Preservation he realized that they were meant to be together, and he wonders how they ever got separated. While this is an allusion to Adonalsium having been Shattered, it also shows that having Shards with opposing Intents is unlikely to "pull" you apart or drive you insane as Wisdom theorizes below. (I don't have the books with me so I don't have the exact quote.) Wisdom does bring up an interesting point about how the magics might not fit together, much like Vin couldn't use Sazed's stored Strength, but I think this is more likely because she didn't have the sDNA required to access Sazed's Strength, while if a Shard was held it would change your sDNA so that you could access both Shards, as it must have with Sazed since he is now "in charge of" Preservation, and therefore, Allomancy.
  13. I have always thought that the Shin were followers in some way of Cultivation, partially for how they treat their farmers, These just don't seem to be the type of people that the Voidbringers are said to be, for instance Kabsal when speaking to Shallan says Created from hate. So, they are a creature of Odium. Another thought about the direction of where the Parshendi attack are that the Heralds and then Radiants always pushed back the Voidbringers as far as we know, so it would make since for mankind to be "retreating" towards Honor, whom they view as the "Almighty." I do see your point about how they were kicked out of the Tranquiline Halls though.
