Lord Sart massaged his temple. Lord Markus had apparently gone straight to Elend himself, demanding the death of Lady Cricket. It wasn't the worst accusation in the world. Did he think that Cricket was suspicious? Yes. Her voting record made it hard to trust her. Was it time to pursue that lead? Absolutely not. Sart was not a fool. He knew how exactly the previous night would play out. He had entreated Lady Cricket to protect him. Even if she were evil, a brazen kill on him would immediately point the finger at her. Therefore, he was not a viable target. Markus had loudly proclaimed that he was protecting himself, whether publicly or privately. Again, any Final Empire Loyalists would seek a different target, if they believed the threat was real. Realistically here was only one appealing option. Lord Kelion was therefore known to be unguarded, and widely believed to be a true reformer. And so, Lord Sart used the man's life as bait. Admittedly, it was a cruel tactic. He was sacrificing a good man, in order to rain vengeance on those still loyal to the old regime. Perhaps he would be cursed in his next life, for trading blood for blood. Still, he stayed the course. He had his Skaa Spies camp out at the home of Kelion, waiting for a Loyalist to do the dirty deed. He was not disappointed. Even if there were a 90% chance that Lady Cricket was evil, it was not worth it when they had a 100% guarantee of success. For his spies had uncovered that only a single person went to Lord Kelion's manor that evening. Lord Renalis (Bookwyrm) Unfortunately, things had been thrown into chaos with this Accusation. There was only one logical move for Renalis to do at this point. He would of course throw his vote onto Lady Cricket. With the vote becoming tied, he might slip the noose, and live to see another day. If Lady Cricket was truly innocent, that would be a worst case scenario. Even if they were on the same team, the urge to throw her under the bus would be too great. They now had to rely on Lord Markus's intuition, rather than solid evidence. He prayed that Markus was correct, but did not know if any god would answer him. He took a long draft of his wine. This was going to be a long day.

Lord Sart stood on his balcony, and contemplated his death. He was old, so he had plenty of experience with this. However, tonight would be the closest he had been to death. He did not have the resources to protect himself, and so he was practically defenseless. Anyone could come in to his keep, and murder him while he waited. Yes, this was a precarious situation. Still, his mind relished the thrill of the moment. It was time to do a gambit. He dipped his quill into the ink well, and began to write. @Akimikoisthecutest "Lady Cricket, I have need of your services. If you are truly loyal to our cause, you understand the danger that I am in. No one now doubts that I am on the reformer's side. As I have already explained, I did not speak enough to protect myself. Instead, you have the power I require. I implore you to protect me. I am obviously the preferred target of any kill tonight. If you are good, you might very well save my life tonight. If you are evil, and choose to kill me instead of protect me, everyone would obviously assume you are a Final Empire Loyalist. The choice is yours, but I believe you will choose to make the right decision." With the letter, delivered he drank another swig of wine. If he was truly to die tonight, he might as well enjoy his last night on Scadrial.

Let's do a reads list. Penguin: Obviously evil. I don't need to really go into more detail here. dplost: Almost totally inactive. I saw that they have logged on two hours ago, so hopefully we get more out of them. Leaning evil, just because I want activity. Akmiko: Either she's been totally pocketed by Penguin, or she is on Penguin's team. Either way it doesn't look good for her. Leaning evil. Booknewt: On the one hand, he was poke vote from Penguin on Day 1. However, I'm not sure that's very alignment indictative. Also voted on me, which is tainting my perception a little. Neutral read. KSauce: They haven't been the most active player, and feel like they are going a bit under the radar. Something feels a little off, but I'm not sure what. Neutral read. Hoid Slayer: My paranoia is getting to me. While I certainly appreciate their contributions, I'm worried they are deep wolfing. Neutral read. RulerOfTheMists: I don't see any world where they are evil in an evil Penguin world. Is there logic sometimes questionable? Yes, but that doesn't make them evil. Village Read.

Lord Sart slowly sipped his wine. It was a fine vintage, and he was savoring this moment. His family had called his mad. Senile. Too old to be capable in this day and age. They had cast him out, leaving him on a plantation where he couldn't be an embarrassment. Well, now who was embarrassed? They had been cast down with the Finale Empire that they had loved so dearly, while he was set to reap the profit of a new world. He took one final sip of the wine. Yes, some things really did get better with age. "You're all wondering what I did last night, yes? It's quite simple. I pulled a few strings, and had my Noble Spies follow IcedOutPenguin last night. I watched as he visited Markus, promising to keep an eye out for him, despite that not really being needed. After all, Penguin had a different target in mind. My spies watched as he stole into Lord Your Mistake's house, presumably stabbing the poor man in the chest." With that declaration, Sart rose from his chair. "Make no mistake. IcedOutPenguin is a Final Empire Loyalist. That is the only way to explain him targeting two players last night." I chose to sit on this information, waiting to see how the day would play out. I didn't want it tainted by this information leaking. It was certainly an interesting result. Lord Kelion, while not having a way with words, was clearly innocent. He had had Penguin pegged as evil from Day 1. Lady Cricket, while suspicious with her vote pattern, was corroborating his story. If she knew he had found out her teammate, why would she then follow his lead today? It's possible that her inexperience could play a factor, but he doubted it. It was unfortunate, but his main suspicion at this point was Lord Markus. While his activity was appreciated, he had opened up a new vote train, possibly in an attempt to get his teammate off the hook. That could wait for tomorrow though. For now, they had a Penguin to catch.

It seemed the villains were still skulking in the shadows. They had not chosen to target Markus, and instead targeted someone not very talkative. To be frank, Markus's plan was a touch too egotistical to ever actually work. Regardless of any hidden messages, Markus was the likely target for any form of protection. Thus, to avoid any chance of blockage, they chose a weaker target. That kill did paint a prime suspect in Sart's mind though. IcedPenguin. Your Mistakes made a key vote retraction, putting Penguin in danger of a tied vote, with not much time left in the day. In anger, perhaps the haughty lord killed the weak target in revenge.

I don't love a Day One Village death, especially one that I contributed to. Disliking KSauce and Penguin at the moment, but that is purely vibes based.

Uh... I'm voting on TOW not Iced.

This is the hard part. Despite my venerable time on this server, I've never gotten particularly good at suspecting people. It all sort of blurs together. We've got a train starting on Ruler, but I'm not feeling it. Ruler. "Poke" voting someone with only one vote while under suspicion, with zero reasoning, falls squarely in too evil to be evil. I'm actually going to follow Hoid Slayer's lead on this one. ThatOneWorldhopper. @ThatOneWorldhopper I saw him typing up a post, and then ghosting. I'm not sure on their history with me, and why that precludes a read. It's been a bit since I played, so forgive me if I don't recall the grudge. This feels like a low activity Evil team, so I'd like to pursue that further.
-
Not sure what to make of the train. It's a poke vote from Iced, an Araris-style stab vote from Slayer, and a panic vote from a new player. Definitely feels like Day 1.

Speaking in thread that you'll be busy would be a positive change. Obviously, don't lie about real life stuff, but that is helpful. I've much more often seen it in elim docs though, which is what I thought you were referencing. ... Are you serious? No, I am very old. LG4 was my first game. I'm mostly retired, but there was a last minute call for signups, so I decided to join for old times sake.

I feel that is placing too much emphasis on posts being meaningful. We have seen a lot of turnover from people desperately trying to make meaningful posts, only to get killed, and view the effort as not worth it. We have a burnout crisis, and putting too high of standards on ourselves contributes to it. Simple one sentence posts are "low effort" but keep the conversations going and advance the game. Your conversation with Lady Cricket was a good example, and I want to see more stuff like it. Admittedly, this is an extremely poor rule set to this out on, but I think my point stands. Also, citing your teammates, could be an elim slip. Not voting it, but noting it. True, there's usually a mixture of both, but that shouldn't stop us from trying it. If we ignore one subset of people, we incentivize that behavior. Personally, I want to incentivize activity from good and evil. That's more fun to me. I should also point out, that the two players I pointed out logged onto the Shard, but had posted nowhere else. That to me is different from being active on other parts of the Shard. Speaking of, Lady Cricket has graced us with her presence. Thank you for sharing your opinion. I move to my other suspect. Ruler Of The Mists. @ruler of the mists The game has started. Join in the discussion.

If you truly believe that we need new strategies, I will make a suggestion. It has become the dominant evil strategy to let the village hang itself. Therefore, we need to target those that do not speak up. That would customarily be the purview of poke votes. However, their purpose has become extremely watered down. Instead of actionable evidence, they have become friendly reminders to participate, and often overlooked. I propose a new term. Lurk votes. I intend to vote on those who have logged onto the Shard, but have not actively participated in the discussion. Crucially, this means they have had the opportunity to be active, but have chosen to be silent. This is often an obvious indicator of overthinking, desperately trying to blend in without arising any suspicion. To that end, @Akimikoisthecutest I place my vote on you. Akimikoisthecutest . You were here only two hours ago, and as I speak I see you lurking these halls. However, your tongue remains silent. I will also lambast @ruler of the mists. They were spotted eight hours ago, and yet no word from them either. Speak, vote, and perhaps I will show you mercy.

Soundtrack: Alright, time to come clean. I shot @KaladinsSenseOfHumorSpren last night. I did not want to be a vigilante, but here we are. Look, I've had a bad track record when it comes to these types of roles. I decided not to use it Night 1, because my judgement when given a gun tends to be odd, and results in a lot of village deaths. However, Day 2 was an unsuccessful bandwagon, and we needed more information. Here's my thought process. Based on everything we know so far, it seems like Day 1 was a three way Village tie. Therefore, I don't think the elims cared about the Day 1 vote. I decided to take a look at the non-voters in Day 1. That's TUO, KSauce, and Walin. Mostly just picked KSauce based on vibes. I needed someone who was staying active, but staying out of the spotlight, and I thought KSauce fit. Honestly, I still do. When I sent in the order, it was Thursday night. I didn't see the two Thug claims in thread. I don't believe for a second that all three Thug claims are Village. I'm presuming that's what KSauce is now claiming. With a Village Seeker and a Village Coinshot, I highly suspect a high powered Elim team. That would give credence to an Elim Thug. My best guess to their composition is a Thug, some type of vote manip (given Day 1, probably a Soother), and one other, maybe a Mistborn or Smoker. Given the evidence on Day 1, I'd reason that the evil vote manipulation is claiming Thug to lay low. It naturally disincentivizes targeting them with the vote, and since our player count is getting so low, vote manipulation becomes increasingly valuable. Therefore, I've decided it's open season on Thug claims. Let me do a quick read list while I'm here. The Obviously Village Tier: TwinStorm: The tie Day 1 highly points to them being innocent. I still don't like their vote on Doc on Day 2, but them being evil requires a very weird set of actions on Day 1. Araris Valerian: I'm tempted to clear him outright, based on the scan claim. I suppose there's a disastrous world where Doc scanned Aeoryi Night 1, but I don't think that's likely. That's the only reason he's below TwinStorm at this point. Plus, I just read him as village, even without the claim. The One of You Probably Tier: Biplet: Given that Day 1 was a three way village tie, her song and dance panicking over breaking the tie doesn't make any sense. I still want a role claim from her, but that end of Day 1 makes me trust her. TJ: My gut says they're Village, but logic says otherwise. There's no way the entire elim team skipped voting Day 1. The problem is I've got good reads on both Biplet and TJ. I think it comes down to role claims. While I haven't heard Bip's yet, I don't think a Lurcher makes a lot of sense here. A trifecta of Coinshot, Seeker, and Lurcher all in the village would be extremely strong. You could potentially balance the Elim team around that, but it makes the game too swing-y. I don't want to push this, but I will if forced. The Highly Suspect tier: Walin: They feel extremely self-conscious. Retracting a vote on TJ and the unprompted claim gives me checked out village vibes. However, they were active near the end of Day 1, which is a major point against them. But if they wanted to influence it that much, why not put a vote down as well? KSauce: Congratulations! You actually had an extra life. Still trust you about as far as I can throw you. TUO : They've been active enough to participate every day, but have kept an extremely low profile. Plus, they are claiming Thug. I feel like that's the perfect spot to lie low at.

Soundtrack: Vote Count: The Unknown Order (1): Doc12 ThatOneWorldhopper (4): KaladinsSenseOfHumorSpren, Araris Valerian, The Unknown Order, Twinstorm Because it feels like a bus? There's been barely any counter activity today. The only other sign of life has been poke votes, and an odd vote from Twinstorm on Doc. Considering that the Soother is almost certainly evil, that makes Twinstorm basically a confirmed good player. Still don't like his vote though. Doc has been putting a lot of effort into this game, which is hopefully a village mindset. I don't think TOW is the Elim vote manipulator. The timing doesn't line up for the Soothe, and there's been zero self preservation. However, we'll get nowhere fast if we keep him alive. His vote out will give us a lot more information, and I think identifies the actual vote manipulator. We'd need someone who was actually active during rollover. That narrows the suspects a lot. In the evil TOW world, I'd put good money that TJ is the Elim vote manip. He tries to start a counter train, and stays active up til the end. Probably an inactive third teammate, like KSauce or TUO. In a village TOW world, things get murky again. I'd lean towards Araris or Walin as the Soother, but I'm not sure of their other teammate. In either case, ThatOneWorldhopper.
