It seemst that in Sanderson's books much more people are capable of raising a single eyebrow than in our world - e.g. for me it's nearly impossible despite years-long training, and i know a lot of people who can't do it in any way. 5

Comatose he/him Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 I also cannot do it myself, but most of the characters I write can and do often, which I blame on Sanderson's influence. It is interesting that "he/she raised her/his eyebrows" is not used as much, especially since many people are incapable of raising a single eyebrow. Probably because raising one eye-brow looks cooler, and more accurately communicates a sense of judgement and mild disapproval, rather than general disbelief or surprise. I'll have to keep a look out for this in my rereads...
