I'd be interested to know how Amazon manages its digital content release dates; it's possible (as with Skyrim) that if you use an ebook reader to connect to Amazon through a VPN from a different country that they would allow you to access the book. Given the nature of how one orders (through regional amazon websites), I unfortunately doubt that this is the case. Might be worth trying though.

I both called and checked B&N in Tribeca to no avail (not that I thought there would be much of a chance.) Checking Housing Works in SoHo after work today as well, I'll update if I have any luck.
