  1. Hey, maybe I explained this poorly. What I was trying to say was that since the Windrunner squires get the enhanced strength, etc. that the Lightweavers get an increased ability to "be sneaky", like a real world illusionist. Only, instead of having to rely heavily on props like real world illusionists, they would have this stormlight fueled super-sleight of hand. They wouldn't be able to make somebody actually see something that they create, like Shallan can, but they might just exude an aura of trust, and would have access to jedi mind tricks type abilities that would allow them to manipulate people a little bit more than a normal person could-but in supporting a full radiant, could help pull off some pretty cool stuff.
  2. I think that if Shallan were to have any squires, they would probably have the skills of a top-notch modern illusionist, but could do it with an infusion of Stormlight. If she were to have a team of minor illusionists that could support her i bet we could see her projecting a huge mass of troops or large weapon, that would be used strategically by Dalinar with advise from Renarin for greatest effect. In teaming a small contingent of Windrunners and squires with a team of Lightweavers and squires they could give the illusion of a larger army for intimidation factor. I would think that in order to become a squire to a KR like a Lightweaver, you would have to embody the ideals that the spren who bond to the Lightweaver: primarily people who go about their day to day life carrying the weight of some terrible secret. The progression would continue until the squire finally accepted the entire truth of their life and actions they would begin to notice small tricks of the eye happening around them which would actually be manifestations of their squireness, with a glow that seems to enhance their charisma slightly, but isn't quite so obvious like a Windrunner.
  3. I am from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Any other Calgarians/Albertans here?
  4. This! I like it. I think it shall become my first espoused theory lol.
  5. I see you folks talking about the "spirit web" which got me thinking, what if the twisting happens largely in the spiritual realm? The spirit of the person being imbued with the hemalurgical power attempts to stop the process, and when met with the power of Ruin's investiture, the result is the dislocation of the organs in the physical realm. Or it could be the power of Ruin's investiture is what keeps them alive despite the spikes going through spots which would normally kill them?
  6. This is a take I never really thought about. I always felt like it was not ruin directly exerting the force of the shard, but was a ritualistic way of tapping into the essence of the ruin shard. The magical nature of the spike meeting with a ritual that symbolizes the aspect of ruin, that something can only be created out of the destruction of something else. I think that the nature of the shard's relationship with Scadrial would always be inherently there, whether harmony wanted to stop it or not. But this is all theory based on my interpretation of the book, I can't cite any interviews or sources for this. I would suspect that the "twisting" of the being isn't entirely physical. If I recall corrrectly when Marsh was made into an inquisitor, since each spike has to be driven through the body of an allomancer possessing the power to be imbued, and that the traumatic nature of the ritual would twist the soul of the inquisitor, much like ritual abuse does in real life. And as for the organs rearranging, I would think that the power of Ruin would, when it was invoked through the ritual, protect the organs that would be needed and push them out of the way as the spike is being driven in, no explanation why, just a structural detail like Swimmingly said. ...but maybe someone who has the adventure game has more information about it?
  7. I was so excited to find him coming to Calgary! I was planning on doing some volunteer work anyways so I volunteered at When Words Collide festival for this year. Just a question though, does anybody have any B-Sand approved cookie recipes? I heard he likes cookies and was hoping to give him some. Thanks!
  8. Good Day everyone! I have to say that I have been debating joining the 17th shard for a while-as Brandon Sanderson(Or B-Sand, as I like to call him) has become my favourite fantasy author of all time! I finally decided to make the plunge as my brother(who first pointed me in the direction of The Way of Kings) told me how much fun he used to have theorizing on WOTmania and other sites like it. Since I work at the same place as my brother and we spend a good portion of lunch hour almost every day talking about B-Sand and the Cosmere, I joined up. You may ask why I chose to name myself after a minor mistborn character(well minor is probably an exaggeration). I should start at the beginning-last year we found out we were going to have our first son, and my SO was insistent that his name should be Theron. I thought it was pretty cool, but then I got into B-Sand, and as soon as I saw the name in print I knew it was the right one. So in a way, my son was named after him. So my username is an homage to my son and Mistborn, as anyone who is a parent of an infant knows, when they enter your life, they become your crewleader. So I am looking forward to catching up on the ridiculous amount of cosmere related theorycrafting going on here- as I become more familiar with the accepted and debunked theories I am sure you will see me posting more and more!!
  9. I was always under the impression that he didn't even teleport the trunk full of guns. He nudged Wax into thinking the best thing to do was to put his guns in the trunk and give them to the butler. Harmony knew the butler would take the trunk back to the hideout-and then nudged wax to go find that exact spot. Just my theory anyways.
