I also find it interesting that Denethil sailed west to weather a storm. They keep saying that the everstorm is new, but it's odd to me. Maybe Hoid was simply hinting at things to come...
-
Think about this: Western Roshar is almost nothing but mountains, and the Highstorms are still harsh as crap for Alethkar, shattered plains nd the such. Shinovar is almost completely unevolved to deal with the raging weather. It will be bad, imo. My prediction is that Rysn will somehow be important for some reason, because owning what I imagine will be the only other sample of shin grass. It's Chekov's gun.

Szeth's Unique Aquisition (SPOILERS!!!!!!)
Aletus replied to Swimmingly's topic in Stormlight Archive
What would give me nightmares - is Nightblood holding odium. -
WoR Signing WoB on Honorblades: that was when asked if you could bond more than one honorblade Directly contradicts the following from the text: The only thing I can assume would be an error, or he was simply playing to Szeth's beliefs - but Szeth seems to have kinda solid knowledge of the honorblades. Credit to Jam for that thought.

Thats a good thing to bring up. I'm not sure. At that point, Kaladin was having difficulties drawing in stormlight iirc, maybe she sacrificed herself in a way, to keep him from being killed in the fall.
-
Or it could be on a moon o.O for some reason team brandon has calculated how long it would take for a surgebinder such as kaladin to break orbit and get to each of the three. That's not saying it's on one of those moons, but is more just an oddity.

Szeth's Unique Aquisition (SPOILERS!!!!!!)
Aletus replied to Swimmingly's topic in Stormlight Archive
But yes, nightblood destroys investiture. It would very likely destroy spren, which is interesting, as living shardblades are spren. With investiture, the spark of life is included - as most of the life in the cosmere came from adonalsium/shards. not all of it though. Someone should ask for details on the naturally occurring humans in the cosmere. -
It is a really neat theory that the shardpools are connected - and could explain why it's difficult to get to Sel.
-
Right, and Kaladin/Syl elaborate on that - it doesn't take ten heartbeats as long as she is 'here with' him - so perhaps if he sent her to Kholinar or some junk, it would - to sort of pull her through Shadesmar or something. So Shallan wouldn't need ten now, when pattern is alive, physical, sentient, whatever. I think back then - things were different. Or I wonder if Syl meant....I dunno. because it is said that the ten heartbeats is to sync and revive the dead spren in an ancient shardblade.

I butchered the spelling on my transcription of the San Diego signing, but you should go check out that thread in the signing board for more info it's not much at all, but there is a bit on it.

Yes it is. We knew so little about the true benefits to the bond in WotK, but even now - mysteries are abound. It has something to do with the words, not just the oaths like in Kaladin's situation - as we know the first words are the important ones for her order - pattern was clearly physical at that point, and apparently maybe more 'aware' then when she rediscovered him with Jasnah I think it has something to do with her forgetting, or blocking it out in her mind, kind of like killing him, so to speak, as when the original radiants abandoned their blades during the recreance. She found her lies again, though, and he came back. Maybe he wasn't completely dead, just blocked out - so to speak. It would have been nice to know if it took the requisite ten heartbeats prior to all of her gained knowledge working with Jasnah.

I'm down to join up for this shindiggery.

New information on Shardblade combat (full WoR spoilers)
Aletus replied to Tortellini's topic in Stormlight Archive
It's also very likely that the Knights who used Shardblades back in the day were trained in and thus more comfortable with the long-reaching blade form of shardblades, as it was mentioned that they were large for the purpose of killing great big things. The spear might not have been natural for them as they were likely trained in the sword more so than the spear - Kaladin is different because of his upbringing. Sure, Dalinar could kick decent chull with a spear-form, but all of them express comfort and familiarity with blades - as they are lighteyes. Who knows if Voidbringers had shards in the past, so the shield function might not have been completely necessary aside from Knights fighting without plate. Also, as it was said - we haven't seen enough from flashbacks to rule it out. -
Hey everyone, if you make it to a signing, and record audio - upload it and shoot me a link, I'll transcribe it as quickly as possible and get it posted on here for drooling/theorizing

Eh. there are a couple iffy things. He RAFO'd certain things from the book, but talked openly about a few other things, mainly based on whether or not the questioner had finished the book I believe. I would wait, even though there are only a few things really pertinent to the book.

Something that's bothering me (FULL BOOK SPOILERS)
Aletus replied to learhpa's topic in Stormlight Archive
Aside from the other fact, that Navani hinted at, that Gavilar took up the company of mistresses. I don't have the exact quote, but she said something about never being unfaithful, although she was given reason to be. Pretty good reason he wouldn't share with her if he felt at odds with her for some reason. -
Maybe it has something to do with the bridgemen and others who can see Syl, and presumably other spren, like sharing the investiture. I don't have quotes right now to back that up. Poke holes.

New information on Shardblade combat (full WoR spoilers)
Aletus replied to Tortellini's topic in Stormlight Archive
Nalan's radiants would first have to prove that they are radiants. I can go gather up some homies and start a gang called the Skybreakers, just the same as you could. Shardblades, themselves, prove nothing. Szeth was inducted into the group, but as far as I can tell, he still has no spren. The oath's are important, and Nalan's twisted views may make that hard, given the type of follower he gravitates, for the members of the Skybreakers to find the words. -
Upvote for mr. moogle. I also found this odd, but was worried I may have just missed something in my read thru. Wit likes things of power.

OK! All done, I shall put it in spoiler tags just for safety's sake. There were a few things I missed, but the DOC will remain life if anyone wants to make corrections/additions, do so and throw me a PM, I'll edit it in. Also, tell yo friends, I'm cool with, and actually enjoy doing audio transcripts, providing the audio quality is decent (As this one was, it was great) Throw them up and shoot them over to me and I'll get them typed down and on here ASAP. (My consolation prize for not getting to attend a signing ) The San Diego Signing Transcript:

I mentioned this in the ANdolin/Kaladin thread, and it has stuck in my mind incredibly, so in order to not derail the thread, what do you all think of this: Given that Kaladin nearly killed Syl, causing her to revert and or return to primitive whatnot, by breaking his oaths, in such a relatively simple way, what would happen if Dalinar killed his Spren in such a way, at least causing him to go away for a while. Does the almightyspren follow the same rules as his 'children'? or is he less of a spren, because they are the materialization of thought, whereas maybe he could be seen as more defined, in the shard/splinter realm, and thus not bound by spren rules. It's kind of really confusing. What would happen if Syl's father wasn't around? Would highstorms still blow? would Syl still be syl? Would Odium /default_win? Could Dalinar find his way again like Kal? Thoughts?

Szeth's Unique Aquisition (SPOILERS!!!!!!)
Aletus replied to Swimmingly's topic in Stormlight Archive
Two of them were confirmed to be Demoux and Galladon, I cant remember if we had a name for numero three tho. -
I'm going to get back at this - as nobody has touched it yet and I'm free of obligation for the afternoon.

Here's the DOC, I stopped at 1:00:09, the charter guys showed up to fix my dang-ol-tv set. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1hagWxPIEaVndEPn3EzrU1HDd8lwB8KBID-OMuN4B1ro/edit?usp=sharing I've been paraphrasing, and omitting non-pertinent information. Don't feel obligated to transcribe that way, if you prefer doing verbatim.
