  1. I would personally be hard pressed between Aon Dor, because of the huge versatility of that ability, and Awakening. It really would depend on the number of Breaths I had. If I had reached at least the fifth awakening, probably Awakening, because immortality would then be matched up to the generic power of the Elantrians. The Aon Dor still shows much larger potential for power, but as an Awakener, you would be much more discrete. Elantrians have silver skin and white hair, not very subtle. With a large amount of Breaths as an Awakener, I could store all of my Biochroma in objects I wear to disguise myself, something Elantrians cannot do, at least, something we have not seen them do.
  2. It seems that way, doesn't it? But perhaps the mentioning of Odium is only another bit of information given to those more Cosmere-aware readers, and Odium isn't the leader of the Voidbringers? Or if he is, maybe in the end of the series, Honor is brought brought back, and since he is aware of how Odium will try to kill and splinter him, he then takes measures to work with Cultivation, thus making it impossible, or at least very hard and improbable for Odium to attack Roshar again soon. Perhaps, ooh, here's an idea... Maybe, since Honor's shardholder was killed, Honor will be unsplintered, but will still just be a Shard, no one to control the power, and so Cultivation will take that up and be the next 2-shard big planet-protector, and thus Harmony will not only not be the single strongest entity in the Cosmere, he will actually be weaker, since Cultivation has thousands of years of practice with her Shardic power.
  3. I heard someone mention that the magic on Roshar was connected to Wavelengths. This makes sense, since in Warbreaker, Awakeners get perfect pitch and perfect color recognition. Both sound and sight work primarily because of wavelengths. Now, the Parshendi too, seem to be cognitively connected to each other with their strange inter-body musical matching, since they are all able to simultaneously hear the exact same song and speak to the tune of these songs. Not sure where exactly I'm going with this, but I feel like it is important. If they can already do this cognition connection, what will happen when they utilize stormform, which allows them to create and control the Highstorms? Will the theorized cognitive distorting properties of the Highstorms enhance this even more, teach them new songs, and lead the rapid learning of new forms?
  4. Shard of Imitation: Everyone would look the same... Act the same, and your abilities would let you change to look and be like anyone else. Shame that everyone else is already you. *Gasps, looks at friend at the exact same time friend gasps and looks at me.* Like a mirror..
  5. I get the feeling that there are going to be a lot of Worldhoppers from Scadrial, since not only do they have the most powerful single entity in the Cosmere watching over their planet, but he happens to be personal friends with many people from that planet, and so perhaps he made specific people, most prominently being those from Kelsier's gang, more Cosmere aware, perhaps going so far as to make them all into Mistborn and showing them how to use this to Worldhop.
  6. I've been thinking. In WoK, we encounter three foreigners in the Purelake, looking for Hoid. In Hoid's note, he is said to have laid a false trail for them to follow. Assuming these are the ones he laid the trail for, I have to ask the question; What is so important about the Purelake that the people of the 17th Shard would believe Hoid would spend time there? Just a question, I've got some theories, but nothing definite. The Purelake drains during Highstorms, right? That isn't exactly natural, so maybe it is draining to protect it's waters from being polluted by the Highstorms? Purelake. Maybe it -is- a Shardpool and as such, it is defending itself. Maybe it has something to do with the Keep Dalinar saw during his vision out in the Purelake? I don't know, but its some food for thought for all of you.
  7. "With the no one rides the Storms anymore," quote, I just got the idea that "riding the Storms" might have been the way that people traveled to Urithiru. Not accessible by walking, but maybe you just waited for a storm, and hitched a ride as it moved Westward. Westward towards Urithiru. Also, it was said that the water of the Purelake drains during Highstorms. That seems evidence that there is something more than evolution going on with the flora and fauna. How would a lake evolve, after all? That is... Unless the Purelake is actually alive, maybe supporting the Shardpool idea. (magic fish, it explains so much. Wait.. do the fish get sucked underground during storms too? Scary) But it also could be that something big is sleeping under the Purelake and is protecting the lake for some reason. Oh god, I've just given myself more questions than answers.
  8. I've actually thought about this. WoB is that Worldhopping from Sel is extremely hard, maybe this is why? You know, the super fast planet thing, and the possibility that without Elantris increasing the power of the Dor, you won't be able to get back without first making some sort of power-increasing charm first.
  9. Hmm, maybe this is even how Hoid travels through time? Maybe he found the little glass bead in Shadesmar that represents time, and somehow kept it with him, or maybe hid it somewhere in Shadesmar where he could find it, and so infuses it with investiture whenever he wants to move forward in time, or maybe, since when Jasnah infused the palace's bead, the other beads formed into the shape of the palace, perhaps he infused the bead and the other beads arranged themselves into the shape of the structure of time, and he has managed to study this in a way that lets him move forward in time, but not backwards because of something I once heard Stephen Hawking say. Because of the way time works, you could theoretically move forward, but attempting to move backwards would be similar to putting a microphone next to it's speaker, the sound keeps amplifying until the speaker burns out. The waves of time traveling back in time and heading back through the time tunnel you made would move forward in time, encounter your portal, meet new time waves, amplify, go forward in time, and keep rebounding until the portal, actually happening in an instant, would close, because though it took so many years to reach your time, it was instant for you in perspective, making going backwards impossible, but forwards a feasible, if a one-way, option. Sorry if that seems a little muddled, and in all honesty, the idea of time having a representation in Shadesmar terrifies me, since that would be an impossibly powerful glass bead. Makes you wonder, do the Highstorms have beads? How about Roshar itself? Maybe even Cultivation has an all-powerful bead sitting around in that pool of glass somewhere. Saying it like that, Pool of Glass... makes Shadesmar sound like an unconventional Shardpool. I can't decide if I want that or not.
  10. Well, we've also got to wonder, WoB is that Adonalsium left spren on Roshar, no clue as to what spren, but that a bunch of other spren are post-Honor-splintering phenomena. So why couldn't he have left spren on other worlds? I think that many spren are a result of Honor's splintering, so maybe the Seons are a result of Devotion's splintering? Perhaps they -are- actually the equivalent of spren. Who knows, but this suggests that Spren should be able to exist on other worlds, if Adonalsium could leave them behind on Roshar, why not Sel?
  11. Well consider this, people from Sel can make the Aons, right? One such Aon allows them to teleport. I haven't seen a rule that says they can't teleport between planets. I mean, sure, you'd probably need like, a star chart, or something, and some really accurate coordinates, but that might be why Sel is so hard pressed to Worldhop, since there is so much specific science to it.
  12. My personal thoughts always were that using a Shardblade made a darkeye's eyes light for so long as he had the blade summoned. Perhaps repeated use slowly changes the eyes to stay light, and then that gets passed down in the SDNA?
  13. In Chapter 11 of Words of Radiance, Eshonai refers to the Parshendi people as listeners. And this gets me thinking. Not only are the Parshendi able to see how the spren appear, zipping at lightning speeds from the Origin, but they can also hear music, playing at the same speeds. This brings to mind Odium. I'm not sure where I heard this, but one post I saw related Odium as a sort of Musical Shard. This might make sense, since he is also connected to the colors black and red, both of which are noticeable on Parshendi. At one point, Eshonai mentions that she is trapped in the Plains, away from the Parshendi gods. Gods being plural. This begs the questions; Are the Parshendi actually creations of Odium? And if so, do they know it? Or do they worship something else they found on Roshar, maybe some other powerful spren being, since they can see spren more, and so might worship them more? Or perhaps this spren-vision they have is similar to what Rock experiences? One quote I believe incredibly important is "Instead, she and the others had ordered the murder of the Alethi king in a desperate gambit to stop the listener gods from returning." The listener gods? This brings up an enormous amount of questions. The Parshendi are the listeners... and they have their gods... so are the listener's gods different than the listener gods? Perhaps the listener gods are Honor and Cultivation, so perhaps both of them are splintered? Maybe they are called the listener gods because the Shards are in a sort of mental states, capable of entering minds as shown with Wax and Sazed/Harmony, and so the Parshendi, servants of Odium, prefer them dead, so they cannot mess with the whole hive mind mental music thing going on? I really don't know, since there is so much speculation here, but opinions would be appreciated.
  14. My bad, yeah, i think i remember what you're talking about. Something about it being very hard to remake a splintered Shard, but not necessarily impossible.
  15. Hmm, I'm not sure on Cultivation giving him an Honorblade, since at one point in WoK, (I forget where) Szeth mentions his people giving him a Shardblade before kicking him out of Shinovar. So I think he got the Windrunner powers, and then his people gave him the Shardblade as a sort of finishing touch, a little slap in the face, so to speak.
  16. Ooh, that is a realy good thought, except that
  17. Thanks so much for this, I went ahead and edited it. This was a great help, really.
  18. So sorry about the spoiler tags, I'm not sure how to put those in, could you tell me so that I can edit it and avoid that next time? Also, thanks a ton for the input, I didn't know that about the spren being splinters of Adonalsium, probably the Nightwatcher, and possibly the Stormfather, if he is a Spren (?). Also, what makes you feel the Nahel bonds are of Cultivation? The whole process seems a bit honor-related to me when I think it through. You know, with bonds and vows being a thing of honor, and with honorspren.
  19. To start this off, I'm going to give a little Brandon quote. "The Highstorms are more related to the mist from Mistborn" This leads me to believe that first of all, the Highstorms may be some remnant body left behind of Honor after his splintering, as the mists were a sort of weakened body of Preservation after her trapping Ruin. This is supported by the time Kaladin sees the large face in the sky, possibly the face of Honor, or, another theory, this is the face of Odium, and the storms are his doing, which would be supported by the threat of the Everstorm. But regardless, we're talking Honor here. Now, another interesting thing about the Mist is that later in the series, (Mistborn spoilers) This could be similar to the Highstorms in this theorized way. Perhaps people need to go out into the Highstorms, or at least experience some exposure to them to develop a bond with a spren? Kaladin only started noticing Syl after spending time in the slave carts, where he had no choice but to spend time in the storms, since they were poorly protected. This could be Honor's way of communicating with people/helping them. (Mistborn spoilers) So perhaps Honor needs the storms? This could be supported by Dalinar's visions, confirmed to be sent by Honor, only happening during the storms.
  20. This is my first post, so I'm going to have to ask you to stick with me here. Honor, aka the Almighty, as we all know, is dead, splintered by Odium. My first thought was 'Oh, then the Spren must be his splinters.' WRONG. The spren have been around during the time of the Almighty, as shown by one point in the book (possibly a Words of Radiance spoiler) This says that Surgebinders existed during the time the Almighty was alive, and thus so did the spren (Nahel Bond). However, that does not mean the Spren are not -of- the Allmighty. I believe that all spren are a form of the Almighty's investiture in the world, as they seem to have all -bonded- with specific emotions/elements/abilities. WoR spoiler Now, second part of this theory. If the spren are all from Honor, what does that leave Cultivation? Well, that leaves him with Shinovar. Think about it. Unlike what Ruin and Preservation did, fighting for power, Honor and Cultivation decided to split up the land, they made a deal of sorts. Honor would get the land and shape it any way he wanted so long as it didn't mess with Cultivation's area. Thus the mountains around Shinovar so that Cultivation's land wasn't effected by the Highstorms. This would explain many things. First of all, it explains the lack of spren in Shinovar, since Honor has no sway there. Second, it would explain why the Shinese revere farmers and hate warriors, since warriors have to do with Honor, and farming has to do with Cultivation. Thirdly, it might explain the Shinese reverence of rock. The mountains that separate Shinovar from the rest of Roshar could be a holy symbol of their god's protection. Small side theory, I think Cultivation might actually be a man, since at the end of WoK, when Taravangian is talking to Szeth, he says, "Sometimes I wonder if the Lifebrother himself sent you to me." I know the Lifebrother is a nickname for one of the Heralds, and the Herald might have been an Edgedancer, which would explain Lifebrother, you know, growing plants and healing people could have to do with Life, but that is just a side theory. (thanks for the comments. I believe the Lifebrother might still be a Herald, though not Cultivation, and I do feel slightly stupid for posting this part.) WoR spoiler WoR spoiler Szeth's people, under the command of Cultivation, who I believe not only is still alive, but occasionally communicates with his/her people, gave Szeth a Shardblade as mentioned in the before quoted conversation with Taravangian. Not only does this mean Kaladin has the potential to be an immensely more powerful Windrunner but also gives an implication that the Nightwatcher is Cultivation. I say this because perhaps Szeth wished for the powers of a Radiant, and so got Windrunner powers, but in return for the great cost of being eternally enslaved, doomed to kill, and yet seemingly absolved of all sins he is forced to commit, for this is the price their god made him commit. Any thoughts?
