  1. Night 2 - Close Call The atmosphere was electric in the worldhopper's conference. One of their own was being charged with...well, nobody was later quite sure exactly what he had been charged with. The Weasel (a code name, of course, because revealing your true name even in a legal proceeding was just asking to get tracked down by some fool with a spike and just enough knowledge to be dangerous) had been erratic recently, repeatedly acting 'suspiciously,' according to the official records of the tribunal. In later years, prominent survivors would wish that they had objected to such vague grounds for dispensing death, but the highly-charged atmosphere, the machinations of secret factions, and the rapid erosion of trust between the factions all led to a single inevitable conclusion. Weasel was sentenced to death. The execution was to be done by means of Hemalurgic excision, a brutal method which involved driving metal spikes through the body of the condemned in such a way as to sever their Spiritweb and preserve the investiture the worldhopper had collected through their long travels. The process was excruciating, and was invariably fatal. That was what made the events of 29 March so extraordinary. According to every single available account, the Weasel was executed at exactly noon, as the sun passed exactly over Devotion's Shardpool. Four spikes - a large but not incredible number, as these things are normally accounted - were pounded through his restrained body, capturing investiture from a number of different Shardworlds. But as the spikes were removed and placed in blood for transportation and preservation, a bright and blazing figure appeared in the air above the Shardpool. Devotion, the Shard of Attachment and Connection, had come. The extant reports differ slightly on her exact words, but the general sense is consistent. A worldhopper known only as Seran Rap offers the most dramatic account of the encounter, in a recollection penned at least two decades later. 'The sun was slightly past its zenith when the executioners finally finished collecting Weasel's fluids for preservation. The show was pretty much over - only the most hardcore Hemalurgy devotees were still watching, and the crowd was getting restless and showing signs of dispersing. I was at the front, taking notes on the procedure. They'd used the double-Henriik technique, but they were a bit more sloppy than I had hoped for. My guess would be that they had lost three percent efficiency due to alignment issues alone, and they had already lost three times more than the mandatory minimum during removal. Suddenly, the air shimmered above us, and then a light bright enough to burn my eyes was shining down from directly above, eclipsing the sun, and surpassing it. In the near-blinding light was a blazing woman, and her voice was an echoing rumble that passed through my whole frame, as if I heard it with my body and not just my ears. I can remember those words now, as if she had just spoken them. "He is mine. You cannot have him." And then, to the amazement of everybody present, the Weasel stood up - with four gaping holes still streaming blood! - and took the spikes from the stunned executioners. "I'll be needing these," he said, and inserted the spikes back into his body while the wounds closed around them. He stepped straight into the Shardpool, and was gone.' * * * * * * * * * * The human was a fascinating subject. Felix the Truthwatcherspren (he was proud of his name, even if the Truthwatchers were really obscure even now and even if Truthwatcherspren wasn't quite the proper way to say things) didn't know what it was that drew him to the human, but he had been following them for three days now. Right now they were...writing something? Or maybe it was reading - Felix couldn't always tell the difference. Either way, it was fascinating. Throughout the entire ordeal, the human had not shown any indication of noticing that he was there - Felix was always proud of his ability to stay secret and stealthy. So when the human closed the...thing that they were...doing whatever it was with and looked straight at him, he was a little nonplussed. He was even more surprised when they talked to him. "Come here, little one. I have a job for you." Slowly, reluctantly, he crept up onto the proffered hand. And then the human said the most glorious Words he had ever heard. "Life before death. Strength before weakness. Journey before destination." And then everything was different and new and incredible and fascinating and terrifying and joyful all at once. And that was only the beginning. 3. Good game Droughtbringer.
  4. From the Anonymous Account Rules post. If you have not read that post yet, please do so now. You are allowed to guess who a player is, but honestly, I find that to be breaking with the spirit of the rules and of the game. Players cannot confirm or deny their identity, so I would rather you did not reveal who you think someone is. You won't be punished if you do, but in the spirit of the fun of being anonymous, please don't.
  5. We are about halfway through Day 2 folks, remember to get your orders in. We have less than half of our orders, and we appreciate not having a huge influx of changes at the last minute..
  6. Well, i'm surprised to still be alive. So i suppose Elandera used making on Xino when she died, so you took a risk and killed him? What are your intentions now?
  7. Either Elandera attacked someone who defended their self, and was attacked and died, or a ballentein player attacked and killed her. I attacked Xino. If he was the Ballantein player who killed Elandera, he should be dead. There are three possibilities that i can see 1 You are ballantein and killed Elandera. Xino defended. You have denied this. 2 xino is Taylor. He attacked Elandera, and elandera attacked him. (Or you.) 3 Xino and You both attacked Elandera. Assuming i am not lying, can you provide me with a 4th alternative?
  8. I'm tying to figure out how only one person died last night, and things are not adding up.
  9. Droughtbringer, are you Ballantein Defense?
  10. I think all PM's have been sent out. If you were expecting something, but did not receive it, please PM me so I can check.
  11. Well, if you are inclined to believe Xino, just defend yourself. We can do that and see what happens. Theoretically, if at least 3 of us are defending constantly, we shouldn't die unless one of us took the Ballantanoan defense.
  12. Have you attacked anyone?
  13. So we could all attack Xino. That would be at least 3 attacks, against a maximum of 2 protects (taylor and Forbiddance) so he would die, but he would also get a free kill against a player of his choice. I will flip a coin to decide if i want to attack him or if i want to defend. I recomend every do the same.
  14. Writeup does imply that someone took out Lum. Probably Xini.
  15. Out of curiosity, if we did all live, who would win? I have zero kills. Too paranoid to not defend.
  16. Close, i'm just plotting to survive. I would not mind all 4 of us surviving until after phase 9, i just think that someone would get bored, and start attacking, so my best chance at surviving is to get you three to attack eachother. I have no intention of killing you drought, you agreed at least somewhat to an alliance. Similarly, i don't want to kill Elandera, she agreed to switch sides. Xino is the only one I am comfortable with slaying at this time.
  17. Hurting you greatly is one of the benefits of the plan.
  18. Factions are generally considered to be players who share a win con and know who eachother are. Unfortunately, Seonid and I haven't been as consistent as we should be in our Vocabulary, but in general, you can assume that if there is a Individual who knows of no one else that shares a win con with them, they are an Independant Faction. In most cases, that hypothetical Solo player would count as a faction, in some specific cases, they would not.
  19. I'd be down for convincing you 3 to do that. In what order though?
  20. So we lost Rath and Lum. Drought, Xino, Elandera, and I. Should we attack Xino, or what? And who is We at this point?
  21. We'd fight Sart
