  1. it shattered some of mine, that's for sure.
  2. Me and my brother were lucky enough to meet Brendan on Sunday and i didn't really prepare enough to ask a lot of questions and the line was busy at the time so I just asked 1. Q: if i was holding Szeth's oathstone would he understand my commands? A. good question, i don't believe anyone has asked it before. No, an oathstone doesn't have any magical properties whatsoever. Wish i knew you could ask him a few more and if i knew how friendly the guy was i would of re-read the books and racked up heaps. I have only read the first few chapters of WOK recently and the nature of the oathstone interested me. Hope this helps .
  3. Thanks everyone for the insight, especially Pagerunner. That is great advice, I think it is much better to have a 2-3 minute conversation (maybe longer, who knows) with Brandon about what you personally like and like to know (even if it's weird and random) than rattle off some really complex and clever question that you didn't come up with and get a yes/no answer to. I am reading some of the questions people are asking and they are on a completely different level to me. I am quite confident I wouldn't be able to ask them without looking down the whole time and I definitely would mispronounce something. At the end of the day I think I'm just going to thank the guy, ask one of my bad questions, get one of my books signed and then proceed to chase Steven Yeun around the Dome with a chain covered baseball bat screaming "I am Negan"
  4. these are some great questions, do you think they will let me ask 10? haha
  5. thanks for your responses guys, will definitely have a look. Pretty exciting to get to meet my favourite author and it is always great to have an excuse to re-read his books ^_^.
  6. Just bought a ticket for me and my bro (for his birthday) for Sydney. This is a dream come true, me and my brother have been discussing Sanderson's works (particularly Stormlight Archive) for years. Got 2 weeks to study up, is there a place here that gives you a good idea of what Brandon has already been asked? dont want to waste the opportunity *edit* currently reading through Pagerunner's collection of WoB's but if there are more that you know of, please let me know
  7. Bless the Heralds ! thank you Beverly Hills resident
  8. Everywhere i have checked either says the 11th or doesnt mention a date at all. I have pre-orded the e-book for the 6th (date its available in Australia) so i can get my world hopping on asap. I hope my girlfriend doesnt need her ipad for the next 3 days
  9. If i didnt use all my points already on a free flight to the states in September id be very conflicted right now
  10. Yeh if i had the resources i would fly from Australia just for this... so awesome !
  11. I wonder how many people from Sydney are on here ? Would of been pretty cool to organise an event for the release. just so everyone had a place they could definitely get their book on time. It would also be cool to see some people dressed up
  12. Yeh there isnt much hope here in Australia. I'm getting the e-book first on the 6th and then worrying about a hard copy after ive read it like 5-6 times over the next fortnight
  13. I believe she has Shallash's honorblade (transformation) and her abilities are lightweaving and healing. I am just making huge estimations as i believe Jasnah cant die. She is too important to the story.
  14. what a dramatic way for everyone to discover Shallan's 2nd radiant ability (healing) Sanderson doesn't play *edit* I make this assumption based on my belief that Shallan has an honorblade.
  15. Great work confused, a definitely well thought out theory. It also supports 2 theories I have been working on. How did Shallan "soulcast" so strongly prior to bonding with a spren ? The only answer I can come up with, is that she possesses an "honor blade". Her taking the blade off Liss ties it up nicely . Oh my other theory is Liss is Shalash due to her sex being indiscriminate in reputation although in her meeting with Jasnah she displays a "plump and attractive figure" (perfect for her current role). Sounds like illusion to me. Her indifference in killing light eyes or dark eyes also supports this. Bring on March 6 (I live in Australia) ! *edit* After 5 minutes of pondering, I have changed my mind, Liss is not Shalash, but I think she has/d her honor blade and therefore has/d the lightweaving ability it gives similar to Szeth and his ability to windrun without a nahel bond.
  16. "Pact abandoned, the guiding heralds-betraying heralds-guided the abandoned pact" "Words spoken, the binding spren-glowing spren-bind the spoken words" "Summoned shardblade, the deathly stroke-killing stroke-death the shardblade summoned" "Bridge falling, the seeking arrows-flowing arrows-seek-the falling bridge" "Dancing spear, the watching bridgemen-inspired bridgemen-watch the spear dancing" "Ketek writing, the damning rules-frustrating rules-damnation the ketek writing"
  17. Yes I agree, very hard theory to prove outright due to insufficient evidence. I just really think it would be cool therefore I look for things to try and make it sound plausible. That's what makes Mr Sanderson's works so amazing. not only does he create new worlds to explore, he leaves just enough unexplained for you to imagine your own parts of it, then he releases the next book and tells you how it really is
  18. As they approached, she was surprised by the variety in their appearance. Other Shin she’d seen had worn basic brown robes or other worker’s clothing. At the front of this group, however, was a man in what must be Shin finery: a bright, multicolored cloak that completely enveloped him, tied closed at the front. It trailed down on either side of his horse, drooping almost to the ground. Only his head was exposed. What would he be covering ? Some Shardplate perhaps ? Does anyone else picture a small army of yodas with lightsabers turning the tide of a big battle ?
  19. Maybe it's just the instinct to back my little brother but the more I think about this theory the more I like it. Let's look at this from another angle, it has been well established that there are a lot of shards missing from Dalinar's observation during his vision at Feverstone keep, now let me ask everyone this... which race of Roshar would have 100+ blades in their possession and not use them to gain power, wealth etc ? I'll give you a clue, it's not the alethi
  20. Haha no mucking around aye bro, i suprisingly agree with a lot of the things you have put forward the warriors appear unarmed but are bound by oathstones... What would they have that would be so dangerous that their religion would require them to be bound to a master, sounds like a great way for a small country with a small population to survive the chaos that having a huge surplus of shardblades in one place would cause !
  21. Hi Shardlet, Thanks for the welcome. My brother just joined under alias "LifeB4Death" so keep an eye out for his theories. If he posts anything good then it obviously came from me, anything bad and no relation
  22. Oh and to all the Shallanites, I do now really enjoy her parts in the book and look forward to reading more about her story and the mysterious circumstances of her father's death.
  23. Hi Everyone, My name is William and I am from Sydney, Australia. The first time i read TWOK i was instantly enraptured by the concept of Shardblades and Plate. I loved reading about Szeth, Kaladin and Dalinar and the kickass mayhem that ensued and found myself skimming over Shallan's parts to get back to the action. I then recommended the book to my brother Abel and it quickly became one of his favourites as well. One day we were discussing the book and i was complaining about how much i disliked Shallan's part of the book to which my brother replied "you know she has a shardblade right ?". This lead to my 2nd reading of the book and to my true awakening to the world of Roshar and in extension the Cosmere Universe. I have now read all of Brandon Sanderson's books and re-read TWOK about 5-6 times and there is not a week that goes by where i dont receive a text/call from my brother about his new TWOK theory and vice/versa. So you can imagine my delight when i came across this website that not only helped confirm some of my theories (and also disprove an embarrassingly large amount) but introduce some new ones as well. In conclusion im looking forward to reading everyone's theories and observations and although im a lurker by nature will try and put forward some of my own theories, but hey "words are like a hundred doves" right ?
