  1. 13) Send my condolences to Vin
  2. 11) And I've pestered Breeze looking for the answer
  3. When you're scooping ice cream at work and the scoops are stuck together. You then wonder if the scoops are making out, and then how that would manifest in Shadesmar.
  4. We have a winner! It was really a bad section of hints. I probably shouldn't have put Sullen in there, since she named the grass that. Either way, you're up.
  5. Isao Takahata could definitely get together Studio A and do it. He's a very competent director and really good at ripping out your heartstrings (Grave of the Fireflies, anyone?). Miyazaki animating Stormlight Archive would be beautiful, however. Just think of the scenery porn!
  6. Manipulators would have to be highly trained so that they don't materialize someone into a mountain or five feet into the ground. That would suck really bad. I definitely would not take a trip from a random guy I didn't trust. Also, Manipulation sounds like something that could easily be abused, like Forgery. Manipulator that teleports into the middle of an army, changes the water to mercury, quickly leaves. You'd have to have your own force of manipulators guarding everything that could be technically manipulated. Security would be a real problem. In order to combat how OP this teleporting is, could rival Manipulators "jam" the space where the Manipulator wants to teleport, making it very risky to try and teleport there? I think it'd be very interesting to see Manipulators try and fight each other this way.
  7. Buy, even though I really don't want it to happen. It will not be Shallan's fault that Pattern dies. Instead, Odium will have found a way to corrupt or destroy spren (it's been suggested in-text that Odium already has the power to corrupt spren, but what if he could destroy spren?).
  8. AW YEAH! Okay, I now have to come up with something. I am sullen, unreceptive to ideas, and very much dull. In fact, I am so dull that I'm practically lifeless. Sorry if this has been done before. I think my clues are pretty easy, but we'll see how it goes.
  9. Exactly. I was actually very disturbed by what Adolin did. If he'd been tried by an Alethi court and found guilty, I wouldn't have cared in the slightest. But Adolin killing him is very much a step backward in his character development, and I think something he will very much regret in the coming books. I would say that Moash killing Elhokar would be worse, because that's premeditated murder. However, Adolin is not the least excused. I was disappointed in him when I read that, and I really hope that this whole experience helps him get good character development.
  10. Gonna go with Alendi, the First Hero of Ages. Sounds like him.
  11. Buy. Just because I think their personalities will clash in the most marvelous way. Pattern will have a heyday with Forgery, as it is chock full of truths and lies.
  12. Ah, I see. Well, I'd be interested to see at what level of technology your world is at. Middle Ages? Renaissance? Industrial Revolution? It sounds like Manipulators are very rare. One of the plot points of your story could be a terrible accident: a Manipulator tries to make something mundane, but the process is bungled and instead he creates what basically amounts to a nuke. Once world powers start hearing about this accident, it could go two ways: they either start thinking that Manipulation is way too dangerous and start killing them off, or they see the implications of such a powerful weapon. Your choice entirely, but some food for thought. On another topic, Manipulators could be used to test the validity of gold. If they can't shift it to platinum or another similar material with ease, it's a fake substance. It seems very trivial, but testing the validity of gold was a very common and serious problem back then. On the other hand, Manipulators can be used in the black market to make "luxury items" for the cheap. You can tell I'm still very set on nuclear crap happening, LOL. Either way, I think it would be very interesting to see Manipulators from across the world being used in different ways. Your tribal village trying to survive in the north, urban manipulators scratching out a living, manipulators in the royal courts. Heck, you could even have highly trained manipulators working with scientists to create new breakthroughs! Imagine how easier it would be to discover new elements if you have a manipulator working with you. Also, Swimmingly, that idea is fantastic. EDIT: When you guys were talking about forges, the only thing I could think of was this.
  13. Note that I was going as crack as possible. Although Shallan in that situation would certainly be interesting. Hoid will turn out to be a false identity, and all the Hoids we've met throughout the series are all clones of the original Hoid, who died thousands of years before Adonalsium even shattered. This Hoid that we've met is just one of those clones, kept alive by holding massive amounts of investiture. (Still going strong on the crack theories. I've only gotten around four hours of sleep, so forgive me if this is not very impressive.)
  14. Jasnah, Shallan, and Lopen will all end up in a threesome. Kaladin and Adolin will be incredibly jealous and will create increasingly ridiculous/outright insane ways to win the girls back. This will eventually lead to Adolin being so stupid that Kaladin has to rescue him yet again, and then they mutually decide that they should start their own threesome with Laral.
  15. Eh... I'd say Sell, because there still has to be a cost in order for it to be Hemalurgy. Kaladin will be cornered by every single woman he has been shipped with, each of them demanding who he loves most.
  16. For the engineering bit, I'd say that once Manipulators start figuring out that they've just invented nuclear fission/fusion, we're going to start seeing a lot of nuclear power plants, maybe even nukes. Since manipulators can also shift atomic position, they could also become human 3D printers, able to create or repair parts (alternatively, they could take a moldable substance such as clay, wood, etc., and change its element). Replacement rifle parts, ammunition, etc, would instantly become very cheap, since you could just plop a hunk of clay or wood in front of a Manipulator and they could shape and change the element of the material. I'm guessing that in order for the Manipulator to change an element of a material, they would first have to know what the material is. More experienced Manipulators would probably be able to figure that out on their own, while novice Manipulators would have to have either a more experienced Manipulator or trained professional do it for them.
  17. I'm guessing that it's a common type of nickname for people like Kaladin that should just die already and don't. After all, he's technically blessed by the Stormfather by not dying in the Highstorm and surviving in Amaram's army.
  18. "Then there was the girl." From the Rithmatist. Well, at least it got my gender right.
  19. Yeah, felt that OSC was a bit patronizing. Brandon's got this under wraps, Orson. You don't need to worry. However, giving credit where credit is due, it was a very positive review (which is practically worth a mountain of gold coming from him). Inception! Quick everybody, get your totems! This is all a dream!
  20. For some inconceivable reason, this sounds almost exactly like the plot for Ouran High School Host Club, minus the Host Club. Just switch Tamaki for Adolin and Haruhi for Kaladin and you have the perfect show! Adolin could make a huge fuss over Kaladin's poverty (despite being from a well-to-do darkeyed family) and constantly dote over him, while Kaladin sourly laments that he's been caught up in all this nonsense and sarcastically mocks everyone who's rich. Meanwhile, those from the higher end academy both fawn over and hate him because he managed to get in and make his life miserable.
  21. Buy. Brandon's been killing gods left and right, why not destroy Cultivation as well? Going back to Alloy of Law shenanigans, Marasi and Wax will still be ship-teased enough to make the shippers scream in anguish, yet not enough to make people think that they'll get together.
  22. This actually sounds very interesting. I could see Manipulators being used as technicians in nuclear power plants, as they could monitor and create more deposits of uranium when needed. Also, if there are Manipulators who are very good at delicate control, they could rejuvenate the uranium atoms so that they take longer to decay, basically making them into rechargeable batteries.
  23. Shallan: Whenever I draw, you keep on showing up in my pictures. Are you a Cryptic, or are you just constantly on my mind? Kaladin: You're so happy that you remind my of my dead little brother. Even when it rains. Lopen: I'd give up my other arm for you, gancho! Moash: I'd assassinate the king of Alethkar for you, babe. Adolin: *Insert generic pick-up line here*
  24. Want a quote? Sure thing.
  25. My opinion is strongly that it should be an anime. If we could have a show with the animation quality of the Last Airbender and Legend of Korra series (Seriously, those shows have gorgeous animation) and great voice actors, we'd be set. The main problem I have with a live action TV show is obviously the budget. Every Shardblade and every suit of Shardplate is unique. The pressure that the props team alone would be under is enormous. Not to mention spren, CGI creatures like chulls, and highstorms. You'd also have a problem with the TV show format: How would flashbacks be done? How do you portray the inner emotions of the characters? Anime doesn't solve all of these problems, but it certainly wraps up the budget problem.
