It could be, as there may be at least one spelling error in this assuming "intrigues" is even the right word. I ruled out "Two" in this case because the following word, statmint didn't end in an S, and the fact that the "thu" or "toou" pattern shows up elsewhere without any other number references nearby that I could find.

I believe so. The "the vs thu" issue threw me off at first. I thought it might have been toou (two) initially, but that pattern is seen multiple times in this image, and "two" didn't make sense contextually. I'm not sure if the difference is a matter of preference, or because this was meant to be a part of a code, or perhaps a way to leave a signature in her writing to help spot a forger. I'll update the top post with your additions. Thanks!

It looked like vitod to me as well, but I wasn't sure. I couldn't think of vetoed though, which seems to be the closest english match. I added that to the original post for now.

I've been trying to figure out the alethi script translation on Shallan's drawing on page 354. Can anyone help me out? I haven't seen any other references to this particular drawing/translation yet, so I'm not sure if others have noticed it yet. It's from this image: The script is mirrored (unless I'm completely wrong about this, which is entirely possible), and I think I've made out some of the words, but it's just so hard to make out. A lot of this is complete guessing, but here's what I have so far (no doubt a lot of it is wrong). line 1: "the statement that intrigues* me though is that of king Nohadon (he/which) implies" line 2: "Uritheru could be reached (if/by) me ?? (sites/cities) if such a thing" line 3: "(our/where/war) (possible/passible/possibly) evidence of the roads ... ...be in place among the" line 4: "kingdom(s) of today I (leave/have) since (vetoed/visited) ... ... and found" line 5: "what I believe to be gateways there but the ..." line 6: "(once/ones) and how to work them it is likely too dangerous to activate them on the" line 7: "center of a populated city as (a/I) ... ... planned with my uncle" line 8: "I hope to find them (an/in) unpopulated ..." *"intrigues" was a guess from what looks like "intnegs"; hoping for a misspelling until I'm corrected. Has anyone else figured any of this out? I was hoping it would be part of the key for the chapter 84 epigraph, but it doesn't seem like it so far. Edit: changed translated text, added a few comments (in bold).

It should be released between 3am and 4am EST Tuesday morning. As of right now, my pre-order scheduled release status says it will be released in 1 day 15 hours on Mar 4, 2014. Based on past experience, it won't be out before 3am though.

My first thought was that it had to do with Szeth. Either the black oathstone he was given from Gavilar as others have mentioned, or perhaps his oathstone "died" somehow, and he can't hide behind Mr. T.

No worries. Thanks a lot for the post. Since the statement from Wit wasn't a confirmation of it being an anagram, I wonder if he just said that to make us waste time figuring it out. Or maybe it's an anagram of words in another language on Roshar; perhaps with words or a phrase we haven't seen yet. I haven't taken the time to try to figure it out though. Upvote for you.

Anime would be a perfect (well, best choice among options) medium for this, but I do agree that the dub could be a potentially major problem that I hadn't considered. The other issues I'm not too concerned with -- landscape & scenery, the magic system visualization, bad-chull characters, etc. I can imaging some impressive scenes on Roshar in an anime format based on the wide range of anime I've seen thus far, but now when I think about the English dubbing I cringe. Personally, I've pretty much had to ban watching any English dub after torturing myself several times watching shows playing in the US. Even voice actors that are awesome and sound like real people still try to mimic the mouths of the characters when on camera, screwing up the timing (rushing to get the words out, bad pauses, etc) and likely altering the original language script to something almost completely different and perhaps less powerful/humorous/etc. If SLA is adapted into an anime and dubbed in English, the animation on the characters would need to be done based on English dialog and timing. Even then, the voice actors would need to be real professionals, rather than the Saturday morning cartoon voices that sound like people deliberately altering their voices to speak to babies or small dogs (which a large majority, but not all, of English-dubbed anime characters sound like). In any case, I agree the anime adaptation couldn't be something just handed over to an existing Japanese anime production company. In addition to the special care needed for the visuals, the dialog and dubbing would indeed need a lot of attention.

@Meg I was thinking of the scene after Kaladin first used the Parshendi Carapace armor as a distraction for the archers: He may not have been aware of the rest of the bridge crews participation later, but he still had a pretty strong reaction against Kaladin. Either Shen has a short memory (@Argent's point about weak memory formation capabilities), or he's been able to get over Kaladin's behavior since then (@hoser's point about understand the necessity and the value of the desecration of the Parshendi bodies). Of course, maybe he's just pretending to accept Kaladin; we don't know how smart or devious he is at this point (not that I really believe that, just throwing out the possibility).

Thanks Shardlet and Argent for the welcome. I'm a software and electrical engineer -- software by profession, electrical by hobby these days (microelectronics, embedded systems, robotics stuff mostly when I find the time). I agree Brandon is definitely a wordsmith. I especially like that you can miss most of the foreshadowing hints and finer world details revealed in the first read and still enjoy the book immensely. Then go back and re-read; finding a few more details missed that makes each re-read a little more interesting each time. I do like Pat Rothfuss as well, but my eagerness for his next book has already faded by this point. I'll still read it when it comes out, though. On the other hand, Brandon really knows how to keep his fans interested.

Interesting. I originally thought this was someone with a shardblade that died speaking prophetic words at his death since the shardblade remained. However, with Wit there welcoming him (despite calling him confused after he named himself), it really seems to be Taln; just arriving from the place between desolations, still wet like a newly formed shardblade, perhaps after being tortured and weakened to such a state. Have we seen normal shardblades remain after the users' death, and heralds' shardblades disappear after death along with the user so far, or am I mistaken? Then again, maybe there's a delay before the body/shardblade disappears if he really is dead/dying. Or perhaps they won't return this time with the Oathpact broken. Perhaps his role is over after proclaiming the desolation has arrived; but then again, maybe not...

I just finished reading it, and am totally psyched about Kaladin and his crew. I hope there's another good training scene coming up in the book. I did notice, though, that the beginning seemed a bit awkward to me with the mention of the light-eyed and dark-eyed dead body treatment that seemed out of place. I think Drehy's and Moash's names were mixed up at least once as well, so some of these changes were probably very recent. Other than that, I really liked the chapter, and am eager for more. I also support the idea of having a Dalinar chapter or reading if another appears in Steelhunt . I was a bit surprised about Shen. I thought he would have been more distant and unsupportive of Kaladin after the way he was seen treating the Parshendi bodies. The way he follows along with everyone else without alternate orders seems logical, but the nod to Kaladin after the tattooing was a shock.

Hello everyone. I've been a fan of Brandon Sanderson for a few years now; having read Elantris after hearing about his selection to complete the Wheel of Time. From there, I proceeded to read Warbreaker, then Mistborn, and I was hooked. As an engineer, the way he reveals the magic systems really resonates with me; more-so than with any other fantasy author I've read thus far. My favorite book from any author at the moment would have to be The Way of Kings, and I'm eagerly anticipating Words of Radiance. I've been lurking on here for a while, and decided it was probably time to sign up, particularly with a Steelhunt code to win. I'm very grateful btw, and at the same time somewhat disappointed it didn't require more knowledge drawn from the books. I'd like to participate in similar hunts in the future that do. I've mostly been dropping by the forums to get my fix for new readings from upcoming books, but I'm being drawn more and more into the Cosmere theory postings lately. I probably won't be able to contribute much, but if I get the time and opportunity, I will. Thanks for the great site. I'll probably be sticking around for a while.
