Fair enough, but (at least to me) the TV show ruined what some call a good story. I wouldn't want that to happen to SA, as it is my favorite series in the world. I almost would want to wait until the entire series is written before they attempted anything like a TV show. Would the whole Cosmere theme be spoiled too? There's a lot added to the story by having previous knowledge of Cosmere books, which your average viewer wont have. With all that said, if they did make a SA movie/TV show/anime, they can just take all my money. Despite my reservations, I'd watch it unless it was horrible.

Just look a Legend of the Seeker. Great books - below average TV show.

Ym and the One: Religion of founding a new Adonalsium?
navybrandt replied to Darkarma's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I also thought One was referring to Adonalsium. We still don't know how or why Adonalsium was shattered, so perhaps this is a glimps of it. -
What would you ask the Nightwatcher
navybrandt replied to Bow Tie Bandit's topic in Stormlight Archive
The ability to eat whatever I want and not get fat. Of course my curse would probably be that all food tastes like sweaty socks or something. Maybe I should just ask for self-control to do the right thing even when it's hard.- 48 replies

The Limitations of the Nightwatcher (A few spoilers)
navybrandt replied to SwiftSteel's topic in Stormlight Archive
It could be that the Nightwatcher must keep things balanced. She grants a boon and a curse to perhaps balance things out. Think about Mr T's days of geniuos and days of idiocy - it averages out. If she were to grant a wish to have the voidbringers never return, she'd also have to grant a curse that is equally horrible. Just my wild speculation. -
If stormlight archive was the wheel of time
navybrandt replied to king of nowhere's topic in Stormlight Archive
Shallan will go learn about Honorblades from the Shin while telling them the whole time that she is a Knight Radiant, when in fact she has one more oath to swear. She will then be called back to Alethkar to become the new head of the Kinghts Radiant, feel guilty about this, and confess her lie. They will strip her naked and spank her and then everything will be fine. She'll ride a horse the whole way back to Alethkar without using Stormlight to heal her backside. -
Both BS and OSC are both successful writers, but I wonder if someone should send OSC a link to this topic since you can't comment on the review page. And why can't you comment on the review page anyway? Seems a bit cowardly to me.

So will the last 5 books (excluding flashbacks) take place before the first 5 books, at the same time as the first 5 books (overlap), or years after the first 5 books? (Note random bolding).

Ummm... what more can be said after that? You've hit the nail on the head! Up-vote from me.

Only if you have the proper prescription.

I'm sure that most of Brandon's fans like not only his writing but him as a person. While I'm not a writer myself, I love his teaching attitude for aspiring authors. I'm also sure he can take a bit of patronizing or criticism. I don't know how well OSC knows Brandon, so he might just want to give him advice too. That said, I also agree, "He's got it under control."

I really felt like I had confirmation of Jasnah's death. I think we need to find out more about what Elsecallers can do as those powers seem to be what saved her.

Nope, and we know from the end of WoR that what he sees is not necessarily what actually happens. Remember he foresaw all of their deaths in the Everstorm, but they actually survived (unless he was foreseeing some distant future). So it might be that he foresaw Adolin's death in the arena or even that he always sees the worst-case scenario, and he used the glasses to block it out as you said.

I don't mean to imply that every person that has glasses is a Truthwatcher. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I still think that there's something to Renarin's glasses though. Renarin stated that Truthwatchers are unique because they "see" (WOR pg 1073). The correlation between the Truthwatchers seeing things and glasses being for seeing things is too great. Great discussion though and that fact that Ym still used his glasses and Renarin doesn't is interesting and might be what proves me wrong.
-
I think the reigning theory is that Renarin is a Truthwatcher. Well, I have a theory about Renarin's spren, Glys, that I haven't seen anywhere else (If I'm wrong, just point me to the correct topic). I think that Renarin's glasses are his spren or at least related to being a Truthwatcher (Ym, another Truthwatcher, also had glasses). Truthwatchers are all about seeing things so glasses make sense to me. Any thoughts, agreements, further evidence, or proof I'm outright wrong?

Question about the Cosmere as it relates to SA
navybrandt replied to navybrandt's topic in Stormlight Archive
Oh, I though a splinter was a piece of a dead shard, but now that I realize it's not, things make a lot more sense. It'll be interesting to find out where the spren came from then. Finally, can you send me to a reference to the Unmade. I don't remember reading about them anywhere. Thanks. -
I have just a basic understanding of the Cosmere (though I guess that's true of most of us until BS writes more books), but I'm confused about the whole shard/splinter/spren thing. (I'm talking about the shards of Adonalsium here - not shard blades or plate). If I'm not mistaken, I read/heard somewhere that the spren are splinters of Honor, who has died. It was his death that caused him to splinter. I realize it was just Honor's holder that died, but didn't the shard itself splinter into smaller pieces? But what about the Stormfather? He is also called a splinter of Honor and the Windspren are his children. So, are the Windspren splinters of a splinter? Next, the Nightwatcher is of Cultivation. So, has cultivation died/splintered too and Nightwatcher is one of her splinters? Or is Nightwatcher actually Cultivation as a whole? Wyndle (Lift's spren) talks about his Mother, so is he actually of Cultivation/Nightwatcher? If so, are some of the Knights Radiant of Cultivation instead of Honor? Also, how can Cultivation have Splinters (Spren) if she hasn't died/splintered? Finally, aren't the evil spren of Odium? How can he have splinters if he hasn't died/splintered? Also, does he have a "super spren" like Honor's Stormfather and Cultivation's Nightwatcher?

The following is a quote from Chapter 2 of WoK: My question is who are/were the Takers? Is that a group of people or a family name or something else? I haven't seen this reference anywhere else, so we just might not know anything about them.
