The Longest Thread (Misadventures)
IAmThatOneGuy replied to ElephantEarwax's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Troy hid under his sheets, listening for footsteps. The hall was silent. Outside, a fierce storm beat against the windows, and water leaked from the roof. A bucket had yet to be placed to catch the water. Troy began to breathe out a sigh of relief. There was no sign of the other boys. Perhaps he would get loose without- The floorboards creaked. Troy froze. He grabbed a chair and put it in front of the door. It did nothing. The door burst open, and in a timely burst of lightning, lit up the larger, wickedly grinning orphans. Vlanis jumped awake, instinctively pulling out his gun. The hotel room was empty. He slowly lowered the gun and rubbed his head. I've been having more nightmares recently... He sighed softly. Then, threw off the covers and got up.- 111800 replies

The Longest Thread (Misadventures)
IAmThatOneGuy replied to ElephantEarwax's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
“Beautiful, isn’t it?” A strange man in a blue Victorian-style suit stood behind them where no one had previously been. “Some say if you see one sunset, you see them all.” He said, stepping to their side. He put a hand to his chin. “I think that’s untrue. Each sunset is similar, yet always different. It is like each moment we live. Unique, never again for there to be one the same.” He turned to 105, wearing a cunning expression. Strangely, parts of his attire turned a light violet. “That is why we must make the best of each moment.” He turned away. "Else, it's an awfully boring story to watch."- 111800 replies

Vlanis walked down the lonely road, away from the darkened city. He ignored the faraway screams of the victims dying at the claws of the withergeists. He opened his coat, looking at the mordite dagger he had taken from the seminar. He looked up, face cold. He had the resources. Now he just had to find a way to get to Mistair. But he didn't know how. This conflict is key. Vlanis thought. Mistair loves conflict.- 111800 replies

Tales from the RID: Presented by ThatOneGuyOverThere
IAmThatOneGuy replied to IAmThatOneGuy's topic in Creator's Corner
I thought of it as sort of medieval, but I suppose by the end of the 1000 years it could be in a Renaissance period. Yeah, seeing the specific numbers now, it wouldn't make sense. I thought of Millennials as being a safeguard against humanity's extinction. But living forever seemed kind of dull, so I made a very specific system of the Millennial life-cycle. They would be normal until about 25, then be immortal and unchanging for the next 475 years. When they reach 500, they would begin aging, though slowly. By the time they would be 975, the next Millennials would be born. So finally, the old ones would reach 1000 and die, and the new ones would be 25 and become immortal. I added the ages so it would keep in line with this life-cycle in mind. So yeah, still got to work on it a bit. But I'm glad for the feedback. -
Let's give this a go. So, for the past year or so, I've discovered that writing is actually decently fun. By that, I mean my very soul has been sucked into it. Over a while, I've compiled a vast RID(Random Idea Dump). One of the reasons why I'm making this topic is that I've decided that I need actual feedback. You see, over the time I've been writing, I have used AI to critique and edit my projects(please hold all gasping in horror, torch-lighting, and mobbing until the end). I didn't just blatantly ask it to write something, I would just send what I have and let it give feedback. However, I have found that on numerous occasions, the line between me writing and AI editing and AI writing and me editing is very easy to cross. So, I hope that because of this topic, I will 1) depend less on AI 2) receive good, human feedback 3) Overcome any anxieties about sharing my stuff and receiving feedback 4) Get better at writing 5) Also spelling. Still need to work on gramar. 7) Maybe get a better sense of humor along the way 10) and a wide variety of other things. Now that the insane ramblings are out of the way, I'll start with a snippet from my RID, just to get a taste... Fire at will.

The Longest Thread (Misadventures)
IAmThatOneGuy replied to ElephantEarwax's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
"Matias!" The little vine-spirit spoke. "Over there!" The Outlier turned, too focused to wonder how the spirit knew his name. His eyes settled on a young girl backed up against a car, surrounded by snarling withergeists. He sprinted toward them. "Hey!" he shouted, drawing away their attention while unfurling his chain with a sharp snap. The withergeists turned towards him. The Outlier swung the chain in a wide arc, metal sparking against the ground. The withergeists recoiled, hissing and backing away from the girl long enough for her to run up to him. "Stay behind me," he said steadily.- 111800 replies

The Outlier began wrapping up his chain. "Reasonable," he murmured, "Was never enough." Perhaps he couldn't fight. He could still help those in need. He turned to the woman. "If you run, I won't blame you. But I will stay, and help people escape."- 111800 replies

The Outlier stared solemnly at the destruction. At his side, a strange vine rapidly grew, keeping up with him. He assumed it was some sort of nature spirit, though he could be wrong. "How can we stop this?" He quietly asked. "How could anyone?" His eyes focused. "I have to help. Somehow."- 111800 replies

The Longest Thread (Misadventures)
IAmThatOneGuy replied to ElephantEarwax's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Vlanis stopped. It had just occurred to him. Why did he stay? He hadn't wanted to. He didn't care about the adventurers. He began trembling. Not from fear. But from rage. Mistair... He had been manipulated. THIS is why he couldn't afford to care. Vlanis quickly attuned to the Vael, the hidden pathway between reality, and teleported away. It was time to get revenge. - The Outlier crawled behind a barricade of chairs. He landed wrong earlier, his twisted ankle flaring painfully. His healing would take care of it, but it still hurt. He leaned his head against one of the chairs. He was utterly exhausted. They had gotten the adventurers out to safety. There were only a few withergeists left. The dragon was being fought. There was a body nearby. It was the young adventurer he had saved from the withergeist. The one he'd dragged to safety and still hadn't made it. He swallowed hard and closed his misting eyes. Why did he still care? He'd lived lifetimes. He’d watched cities burn. He’d watched friends die. He’d watched Troy die — over and over, in different ways, until Troy became the hollow Vlanis. He should’ve been numb by now, like Vlanis — cold enough to walk away, as he had seen his former friend do. But he wasn't. He still cared. And it still hurts. Tears began to fall from his eyes, falling onto the dusty floorboards. His shoulders began to shake despite himself. And he still was alone. Still Matias the Outlier. He felt something. A presence beside him. It felt like that voice from earlier. It didn't say anything. It was just there. And that was somehow all he needed.- 111800 replies

The Longest Thread (Misadventures)
IAmThatOneGuy replied to ElephantEarwax's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Vlanis was tired and angry as he watched the knife at his feet. He had come to this seminar in hopes of finding a way to kill Mistair, but all he had gotten was a piece of information that was very nearly useless. He had gained almost nothing by coming. Vlanis would not make this a waste. He grabbed the dagger and began by stabbing the withergeist in front of him. - The Outlier growled, fighting 3 withergeists at once. "9/10! Your portal thing isn't helping!" He quickly killed the beings, then yelled at the dragon, trying to distract it from the adventurers.- 111800 replies

Vlanis regarded the witherbound with a raised eyebrow. "Well done. Give it some practice, and you might just give me a cold." His voice trailed off when he noticed one of Glyer's aids holding their black dagger. Mordite... Glyer's voice echoed in his mind. ...Kill almost anything... He raised his gun and shot the aide's chest. - The Outlier looked towards 9/10. He was too tired to act sarcastically. "Yes, please," He uttered wearily.- 111800 replies

Vlanis fired his last two shots at them before grabbing the nearest chair and slamming the clawed one as hard as he could with it. He spun and smashed the slightly incorporeal one as well. Vlanis then moved back, reloading his gun.- 111800 replies

The Outlier didn't even have time to curse as he dove out of the way. He rolled and broke his fall a little, but he bruised his shoulder. He didn't pay attention; his natural regeneration would take care of it. Quickly standing back up, he whipped his chain around the corpse's neck. Using all his strength, he pulled the corpse into several others. He quickly yanked his chain back. "Wow... You're good!" The voice said. He sighed. "Can't really talk right now." That's when he heard Vlanis yell. - Vlanis bolted, throwing chairs out of his way. That's what I get for deciding to stay. He shot several withergeists before digging through his pockets. He ripped out shaded goggles and a bottle of white liquid. It was his last Flashwater bottle from a few universes ago. Let's see how these things react to very bright, sacred light. He hastily put on his goggles and yelled at the top of his lungs, "EVERYBODY CLOSE YOUR EYES!" He threw the bottle over his shoulder. When the bottle broke as it hit the ground, a flash almost as bright as the sun lit the room.- 111800 replies

The Longest Thread (Misadventures)
IAmThatOneGuy replied to ElephantEarwax's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
The Outlier was too busy fighting to notice the woman by his side. He pulled out his gun and shot a corpse that was attacking a young adventurer. He grabbed the adventurer by the collar and dragged them behind a makeshift chair barricade that the others had made. “Stay down,” he commanded. A soft voice answered him. “Not many would bother.” Outlier froze for half a second. The voice was small, curious — almost childlike. He growled and ducked quickly, as a withergeist’s claws sliced the air where his head had been. He dismissed it. "Shut it, Mistair. I'm busy." The little voice paused, then asked, "Who's Mistair?" He ignored the voice. He didn't have time for voices, no matter who they were from. Quick question: Do Radiants exist in this world? - Vlanis straightened. It was too dangerous to stay. If the adventurers died, it was because they were too weak to survive. He focused his mind and attuned to the Vael, the path between worlds. He could teleport out of the building and be done. But the screams stopped him. The sound of bodies hitting the floor. He sighed. Then turned and ran towards the fight, drawing his knife and reloading his pistol.- 111800 replies

Vlanis stiffened, watching as the wither-zombies rose to fight the adventurers. He had to go. But watching as they fought to their deaths... He felt conflicted. - The Outlier used his chain to great effect, keeping the withergeists and the reanimating corpses at bay. But the forces were growing. He wouldn't be able to hold much longer. He gritted his teeth. He couldn't just leave these people. If he was going to live forever, he might as well do something good. So he continued to fight.- 111800 replies

"You've got to be kidding me," Vlanis said. He snapped around, firing his gun at the reanimated corpse and kicking it in the face. "I am DONE with this place." Once it had let go, his eyes searched for an exit. He found something else: the girl who had caused that disturbance a little while ago. She had two other adventurers at her side. Hmm, He thought. Well, with a group, at least the withergeists might go for the others. He began to run towards them, then stopped. He noticed a familiar figure fighting the withergeists with a glowing chain. Outlier. Vlanis narrowed his eyes. That was going to make things more complicated. Suddenly, it hit him. Which is exactly what Mistair would love to see. Despite himself, Vlanis grinned widely. Mistair had taken the bait.- 111800 replies

The Longest Thread (Misadventures)
IAmThatOneGuy replied to ElephantEarwax's topic in Forum Games & Random Stuff
Vlanis found himself facing a withergeist. The dark being screeched at him. Vlanis needed to stay calm. His weapons likely wouldn't work on the withergeist, and the many corpses proved they were lethal. He didn't have the time to attune to the Vael It was time to use the new power. He cleared his mind and focused on his body, his physical being, down to the particles. He focused on that with a steel will. Then he summoned the Anti-Intent. Immediately, the world lurched. His existence was under attack. His atoms shuddered, their meaning eroding, their cohesion unraveling. His vision flickered at the edges, reality stuttering like a broken film reel. Somehow, only through sheer force of will, he was able to withstand it. Once he was in relative control, he forced some of the power onto the withergeist. The withergeist’s form spasmed, its edges dissolving into static. Its scream warped, glitching between pitches. Parts of its body flickered out of existence, reappearing half a second out of sync. The creature recoiled violently, its very nature unraveling until nothing remained but a smear of narrative static. Vlanis exhaled and pushed the Anti‑Intent away, letting his form stabilize. He smiled a thin, cold smile. He hadn’t been able to use it on Mistair—too slippery, too evasive, too aware. And the amount of Anti‑Intent he could summon wasn’t strong enough to fully kill Narrators or Enullers. But he knew his enemy. The self-titled 'Representation of Drama' would see Vlanis’s pursuit as a game. And Vlanis would play. He would play until it was too late for Mister Mistair to escape. - The Outlier burst in through a side door, wielding a long, glowing chain whip. He looked around the room. He saw Vlanis, fighting a withergeist. Then he saw the corpses on the floor and the adventurers fighting for their lives. After only a small pang of a forgotten, buried feeling and a second's hesitation, he ran towards the struggling adventurers.- 111800 replies

The Outlier looked at the spot 9/10 was before. "That's the problem with you beings." He remained in the alleyway before checking around the corner at the cloaked man again. "You never do care." - Vlanis stood from his seat. He'd gained a clue, which was what mattered. He'd learn if the information was valid later. The seminar was sounding more like a swindle; he didn't trust the 'murderite' Glyers was showing. Time to go.- 111800 replies

He paused. Then he drooped a little, as if he had a great weight upon his shoulders."I won't kill him. I just... need to help him. He's misguided. Lost." He leaned against the wall, eyes staring off into space. "So am I." He looked at 9/10. His eyes seemed ancient. "I'd welcome death. But, I don't know if Mistair would allow it. " His face hardened. "So long as I'm entertaining." He sighed. "I need to help Vlanis."- 111800 replies
