[OB] Adolin didn't kill Sadeus -For completeness
the_archduke replied to Storyspren's topic in Stormlight Archive
THESE WORDS ARE ACCEPTED -
Are you certain? I thought Edgedancer indicated he was a proto-edgedancer
-
How is Renarin going to wrestle someone to the ground and stab them in the eye with a knife? Mraize could do it. Ialai could arrange for someone to do it. Adolin did it once (though he is injured now and I am in no way advocating that he did it). Renarin is a bookish, spindly guy who doesn't know how to fight. I don't see lightweaving or regrowth assisting either. Renarin as the copycat killer makes no sense.

Yeah, put Burj Kalifa on top of Mount Everest and we are getting an idea of height. Urithiru has to be massively wider than a skyscraper though.
-
Burj Kalifa is only 160 stories to Urithiru's 180
-
I wonder if any of the unmade are malen or femalen? They would almost have to be if they are the Listener's gods.
-
Thanks WhiteLeeopard, those were the ones I was thinking of
-
I am going from memory, but I believe Kaladin says it in the first book. Looking now.

Nitpick: The fourth darkeyes ever to win a shard
-
Was I the only one who thought Syl was flirting with Kaladin before they got to Heathstone? Her wearing the havah made me think that for some reason. Their interaction seemed very flirtatious on her part. Has anyone shipped Syl with Kaladin before? It seems crazy, but... edit- Here's the quote “Do you like the new dress?” Syl asked, wagging her covered safehand as she stood in the air. “Looks strange on you.” “I’ll have you know I put a ton of thought into it. I spent positively hours thinking of just how—Oh! What’s that?”

Though Preservation = White and Ruin = Black is widely theorized
-
Also interesting was that Dalinar was lamenting losing so many highlords. He indicates that he only has so many men of that rank. Apparently he can't just promote men of lower dahn. How do people move up in dahn?
-
That wasn't gratuitous. Writing about war and fighting requires discussing violence. ASOIAF revels in torture and graphic description. This is a threadjack though, so I won't discuss this further here.
-
If Brandon finished ASOIAF, it would be over in half a book. Take out the gratuitous nudity and violence (which Brandon's wouldn't write) and there isn't much left to that story.
-
Weren't the Releasers (Dustbringers) supposed to have red eyes? Could that have some bearing on Odium's Champion?
-
The men of Red and Gold that Miles spoke of in Alloy of Law might make more sense. Red = Autonomy, Gold = Odium.
-
Words of Radiance was a book about details of the Knights Radiant. Why would Oathbringer just be a repeat of that?
-
Oathbringer is the name of Dalinar's old sword. I suspect the book Oathbringer (in Cosmere) is a history of the blade Oathbringer Spoiler for other Unfettered chapters
-
So is Kaladin or Jasnah going to be opening the Oathgate in Kholinar?
-
Shin invasions? The reference made it sound like it had happened a long time ago, but wow. If they can't walk on stone, how would they invade?

Quote that made me think of the Cosmere
the_archduke replied to the_archduke's topic in Cosmere Discussion
That's the point. Divorced from other virtues, Amaram could be called honorable. -
Just came across this quote: “When a religious scheme is shattered it is not merely the vices that are let loose. The vices are, indeed, let loose, and they wander and do damage. But the virtues are let loose also; and the virtues wander more wildly, and the virtues do more terrible damage. The modern world is full of the old Christian virtues gone mad. The virtues have gone mad because they have been isolated from each other and are wandering alone. Thus some scientists care for truth; and their truth is pitiless. Thus some humanitarians only care for pity; and their pity (I am sorry to say) is often untruthful.” - G.K. Chesterton I wonder if Brandon had heard it before he came up with the Shattering of Adonalsium. Thus autonomy is a virtue, but Autonomy is doing bad things, divorced from things like Devotion and Ambition. Ooh. Honor separated from Odium is leading to people like Amaram, who are "honorable" but do not hate suffering.

Who was that guy on the Shattered Plains
the_archduke replied to the_archduke's topic in Stormlight Archive
Darn, thought I had found something more exciting. Edit- Probably one of Dalinar's old drinking buddies. -
In Words of Radiance during the march on Narak, Shallan and Dalinar were talking. Shallan revealed to Dalinar what she was. They were then interrupted by a messenger telling of a skirmish with Parshendi. They go to investigate and that is when Shallan makes the discovery of the red eyes of the Stormforms. The man who meets them by the parshendi corpse is called out as darkeyed and not a soldier (I can't find his name this second because I was listening to it on audio book during my commute). The reason I ask the question, is the darkeyed man calls Dalinar by his first name and no one seems to think this is strange. It struck me while listening that this was very strange. Shouldn't a random darkeyed man call him Brightlord? Dalinar doesn't think it is strange because he doesn't comment on it at all.

The End of Stormlight Archive theory
the_archduke replied to NamelessThirteenth's topic in Stormlight Archive
Way of Kings Chapter 9 chapter heading “Ten people, with Shardblades alight, standing before a wall of black and white and red.” I think Brandon snuck this in as a scene from the end of the series. Hiding it in plain sight. And I do not believe that we are only getting one radiant of each order. Have you read the end of Edgedancer?
