  1. Glad you enjoyed it. And welcome, Dovie.
  2. I'm not sure about that. Taking an honor blade could be particularly detrimental to the conflict facing the Roshar. I don't see Hoid as being interested in hamstringing the worlds he visits.
  3. I will knarfle the Garthok!
  4. There is a massive displacement of water, but Ishikk says the storms are not as bad at the Purelake as they are in the east. Also, the drawback phenomenon of a tsunami does not seem quite analogous to what happens at the Purelake. The Purelake is said to drain. Also, the closest real-world thing we have to a highstorm would be a hurricane, which pushes standing water forward (storm surge) rather than drawing the water into the storm.
  5. You've got some interesting ideas here, Alice. I agree with you about the alternative interpretation of the ch. 29 epigraph (in fact I offered up something similar a while back). I also agree with you that the ch. 33 epigraph does not seem to fit the listeners since we have been told that they need a storm to change form. Your comments have stirred the primordial soup in my brain. What if the listeners coupled with the Dawnshards are the Dawnsingers. They are the people we have met that are most closely associated with music and rhythms. Couple this with the information in the cymatics chapter of WoK. This is suggestive to me.
  6. Not sure that the KR symbol for the Lightweavers corresponds to the Shash glyph (meaning the one branded on Kaladin's forehead) in spite of connection between Shash and Shalash and Shalash and the Lightweavers.
  7. I don't know why it happens, but the door swings both ways. The new Terry Pratchett book was released in the UK well before the US release.
  8. (Psst! It is customary to reward such an effort on your behalf with an upvote to aWESomeness. Simply click on the green up arrow in the bottom corner of the post you wish to upvote).
  9. I will speak the next ideal that must be spoken. Huh, apparently it was me. You should have seen the burst of stormlight. It was pretty cool.
  10. The other two were not there as I recall. You may be right about the concept art idea. The other two share similar qualities with the Chach and Nalan symbols. They feel like they match, but they don't quite.
  11. Ah, I see. I suppose you could always open the image in paint and used the paint can tool to color in each letter you want with orange if you wanted to pick up the H and the 17 as well. That way, you would not have to worry about matching the font.
  12. The one which corresponds to Jezrien was embossed onto the front cover of the US hardcover. You'll also notice that the guard of each sword corresponds to one of the KR order symbols. Edit: Although, looking at it again, the first one definitely corresponds to the windrunner symbol, but it is difficult to determine which order, the second and third sword correspond to. Although it appears the correspondence you indicated to Nalan and Chach seem best. Edit 2: I don't recall seeing the other two anywhere in WoK.
  13. Welcome, Valnurath. Out of curiosity, why the highlighting of the 'T' in your avatar?
  14. A hearty welcome to you as well, tjs.
  15. There is a good reason. You'll find out when you are reading the Way of Kings at least.
  16. I don't know. It's these kids these days. Odium take them for their lack of respect for our ways!
  17. In a word, nope. There have been some ideas tossed around, but one guess is as good as another at this point.
  18. Welcome to 17S and the world of Brandon Sanderson. After Camon's exit, Vin was safe. Especially with her implied status because of Kelsier's attention. A regular crew like Milev's wouldn't dare act against a major crew like Kelsier's. I hope you enjoy the books. Is TFE your first Sanderson book?
  19. Well, you've thought things through. But I think you missed a couple of details. We know from WoB that Honor and Cultivation were an item and Wyndle's comments suggest pretty strongly that Cultivation is female. You've got a couple of things in here that I'm not sure how correct they are, but I haven't been spending that much time here lately so I can't say for sure off-hand.
  20. Here is the quote that the Count was referring to: Source Because of the wording, I am inclined to think it unlikely that Adonalsium shattered on Roshar. Brandon said that Adonalsium left power on Roshar. This strongly suggests to me that Adonalsium made some sort of investment and then bailed for his next destination.
  21. The second arc is still fairly fluid. It was only in the last year that Brandon nailed down the flashbacks for the first arc.
  22. I think that Dalinar's and Adolin's back stories may be interesting, but they are far behind Shallan, Szeth, Jasnah, Taln, and even Renarin in my mind. Action is okay, but I want back-story that will give us some key information.
  23. Maybe semantics, but they were not all criminals. Some, like Kaladin, likely were inconvenient and some enlisted but ended up in the bridge crews rather than the army. Not all the bridgemen were slaves, else there would not be a reduction in pay for slaves.
  24. Well, the chasmfiends to me always smacked more of Cultivation. But who knows? There was the listing of blood colors in the Prelude where Kalak mentions red blood (human), orange blood (Parsh presumably), and purple blood. We know from the hunt that chasmfiends have purple blood. So it appears that greatshells of some kind participated in the last battle of the last desolation. Edit: Master, you ninja'd me!
