      What's up with the ookla thing? I'm new to the site and I feel like I walked into a room in time to hear the punchline of a joke without the context that makes it funny.

      ookla was Peter’s (Brandon’s assistant) username on the original forums so from his birthday to Brandon’s birthday people changes their names to ookla the (blank)

      its over now, I just don’t have enough name changes to get back to my original name for a couple weeks.

      One of Brandon Sanderson's head assistants at Dragonsteel and close friends is Peter Ahlstrom. I forget what exactly he does. Regardless, when he was here (or another forum, I don't remember), his username was Ookla the Mok. From his birthday in late November to Brandon's birthday on Dec. 19, people change their usernames to Ookla the [something] in honor of him.

      It's just a tradition.
