    “No, separate itself from the leaders of its world. It didn’t want us to fall to the Blight. But… the Ashes, hey succumbed.” He held up the stone, grinning triumphantly. Behind him, the shadows formed into a figure.

    “The crown… it wants me to free it. But I won’t. I can’t.” He blocked it out, refusing it access to his mind. And it worked - the crown was silent.

    “In this one, the Flame made sure to… separate us, from it, to prevent corruption. But the Slumber leaked in another way, I think. Those are the screams… of Deptheaters. Hopefully they don’t see us, I need to continue working.” The air grew colder.

    I’m doing nothing. Pyk sighed, and placed a hand on the crown, concentrating. His brow unwrinkled, and he looked at her. “Asher…” He’ll be back.

    “When the Flame slept, died, whatever you call it, the first time, reality… broke. Fractured, twisted. It split off, tracing countless paths through time - each separate. In one, I met you, but in another, I died while trying to resist the Pact. In yet another, I died to the Monarch, all that time ago.” He shook his head. “The Flame brought the realities together, when he woke. But he’s slipping - more and more are appearing with every day. I believe we are from separate realities.” He found a loose Emberstone, then pulled another from his jacket, tinkering with it wordlessly. Above them, they heard a scream.

    You won’t be able to remove it - she was the one to bring you here in the first place. Adari, Aeia, sometimes people even call her Shayd - they mix up which crown is which, you see. It didn’t budge. Pyk straightened, closing his eyes. “You have no power over me…” He muttered, attempting to breath slowly. Flashes of flame were pulled from his memory. He shivered, but shook his head. “You have no power over me.” I could tell he was the resilient type.

    “Nonono - you’re not from my reality. A different possibility, a different time. That’s how you appeared in my room - it wasn’t mine, until you branched over.” He started looking in the dirt at their feet.

    Yes, the one my predecessor stole the power from. The Flame, I believe he was called. He was not okay. He was doubled over, clearly in pain. My twin can be… careless.

    “Yes, you can - the walls are just there for organization anyways. You will need… you will need a guide, though, through the Blight.” Side note - Aeia ( @Through The Living Glass ) and Felicity are in the same room. Pyk hesitated. “Something went wrong, I think, when the Flame woke. Some sort of corruption - I think it knew. Maybe.” He studied them. “You aren’t from around here, are you? Not this branch… I noticed it, but…” He frowned. “You need to get back - your presence is dangerous.” Indeed, the two were starting to feel sick. ”I will need my Smithing tools - or substitutes.”

    Just a dead deity taking its toll on me. For a god of chaos, its power is very sluggish.

    He shook his head. “I fear that, in time, I will end up just like them. Vera is out in the countryside right now, she may be lost as well.”

    It dissolved into individual Strands, running up her arm and forming again as a crown. Greetings, young one. I am known as… Shayd.

    He nodded. “I think… the Slumber… I… I’ll have to think more on it. But it certainly explains things. I have felt it before, I think.” @Hawks ”A Smith.”

    The golden one seemed to call to her. Pyk frowned, and the purple one dissolved, forming again on his head. Angry thoughts assaulted his mind. Freedom free me do it do it now chosen freedom vessel free me.

    “This… this is outside of my scope. I think… I think I have some idea of what is happening, though. Listen - I’m pretty sure this same thing, this freezing, this is the ‘sleep’ that tired the Flame.” “The four - two Ashes, two Smiths. They would lead the people, and teach their skills and abilities to the deserving.”

    Now I’m tempted. But, alas, I shan’t. Maybe Drin. Pyk noticed this shift, then stepped up to the hill. Two crowns, interlaced, sat on thin air. One of crystal, one of gold.
