I would want Feruchemy and the ability to compound with Zinc, so Rioting, I guess. Because being able to be the smartest Feruchemist that ever lived would be pretty darn neat, although we don't know super well what that looks like.

Doesn't Bradley Cooper seem the best fit for Kelsier? A little edge (watch Silver Linings Playbook), pretty, blond, 30 something (looking at least, I don't know his age). Marsh could be Lee Pace, since he's sinister and brooding. I think that Rose Leslie would be a good Vin. Maybe too tall. Hair dye would do magic. Andrew Garfield fits for Spook, but he may be too old. He looks young enough though. Sam Claflin would be a good Elend. He oozes White Male Protagonist. So does Liam Hemsworth, come to think of it. Breeze in my head has been and always will be Paul Giamatti, and those are all the movie people I've thought about, I guess.

Hey, so I had a thought today, tweeted it to The Man Himself, and lo the word reached mine ears. I think it seems pretty cool!

Knights Radiant Orders and Surge Combination Theories
Islington replied to Trickonometry's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think Transformation is the surge of like...cognitive impression. You impress your cognitive impression on the object, and yours over writes it. -
I don't think that they are more specialized in either or. I think it's the combination that defines them, and the emotional tie that comes from each surge's interpretation to others. Kaladin has Adhesion and Gravitation. He pulls men to him (gravitation) and he brings men closer (adhesion). Nalan has Division and Gravitation. The law unites all under one banner (gravitation), but divides men by their codes into criminals and the just (Division). Shallan has Transformation and Illumination. As she discovers more about herself (Illumination) she becomes something more (Transformation). I think the surges mean different things to different people, and that influences how the investiture manifests itself.

Has someone called him that? Because I like the idea of a giant monster being the landmass of Roshar more than the idea that Heaven's Weirdest Angel is what's referenced.
-
Isn't there a quote about the landmass being on the back of a giant thing? Like, it goes something like "they could not live on the forbearance of his stillness forever" or something along those lines. I'll edit it in when I find it! EDIT: Ha! The wiki is the greatest thing man has invented since indoor plumbing and the firearm. "Obviously they are fools The Desolation needs no usher It can and will sit where it wishes and the signs are obvious that the spren anticipate it doing so soon The Ancient of Stones must finally begin to crack It is a wonder that upon his will rested the prosperity and peace of a world for over four millennia" -From the diagram. Emphasis mine to prove my point and ignore everything that doesn't go along with my theory, as is proper of a scientist.

So a Splinter is the power of the shard, broken up into little pockets and gifted with sentience thanks to the sheer volume of power that breaking God into 16 pieces gives you. Neat-o. So what, besides Skaze/Seons and Certain-Spren are Splinters? Are there Splinters on Scadrial and Nalthis? Is Nightblood a Splinter? What about a Returned?
-
Can someone explain this to me/tell me whether I'm right? Slivers of a Shard=Power+Mind. The Lord Ruler, Vin, and Kelsier briefly. Splinter="raw power"? Honorspren (spren in general?), Seons/Skaze? I've always wondered the finer points of this, and it really confuses me during discussions of Higher Cosmerology (courses soon to be offered at BYU).

As a gigantic fan of superman in general and Man of Steel in specifics, I adore this theory and it's now my headcanon.

If only we were all as clever as you. -

Man that trolley experiment is stupid. "You decided to only kill 1 person? But that's wrong." Yeah, computer, but killing 5 people is also wrong, so why not limit the amount of wrongness? Either way I'm going to years of therapy. -

The Rosharan equivalent of popcorn is probably some kind of slug or crab monster that you can only eat in the rain in the wind or something. -

So he saves him because his conscience tells him to, after overcoming his personal feelings for the person, and basing it on the emotional attachments of those around him to Elokhar and the consequences to others should he indulge in his own desires/emotions.......but he didn't do it because he's a good person? -

It's saying that he won't let personal emotion cloud his judgement of what is right. It's the age old "do you save a murderer if they're going to get hit by a truck" and for Kaladin, the answer is yes. You don't save people because they're a good person. You save people because you're a good person.- 67 replies

Trying to read anything by Robert Jordan is just painful to me. I read the first Wheel of Time book and it took everything out of me to finish it. People say that Sanderson and him are in the same vein, but I just don't see it. I do like Rothfuss better than Sanderson, but that's only really because I enjoy his fae and poetic writing style. A lot of people think it's overblown and pretentious though, so it's just really a matter of taste. Brent Weeks is good, but his middle-series books are always terrible cliffhangers and super stressful.

What about I will not cower from the challenges I face. Or I will stand when others fall. Those both fit Adolin, and if the Dustbringers are brave...

Feruchemical Nicrosil, Allomanic Cadmium, and a Surgebinding Honorblade would be pretty hilarious. Store stormlight in (if copper is any judge) a perfect container, make a super-speed bubble, go to town on 2-3 guys with your Windrunner/Edgedancer blade and call it gg, wp.

Shallan and Kaladin have too much potential bad blood. Shallan's order of Radiant is all about misdirection and deception, along with equivocation. Kaladin is all about forthright honor. The guy's basically Galahad after all his words (like the rest of the windrunner's creed is going to get less honorable and white knight). Shallan's brother was killed by Kal too, AND Kaladin (I would bet) respects Adolin too much to philander with his fiance (even if it IS Shallan's decision, Kaladin is just now starting to let people in, and Adolin is one of those people after the prison thing).
-
It's not a love triangle unless Adolin and Kaladin also love each other. It's a love angle. If Renarin's involved I suppose it's a love splayed-foot-of-a-bird or something. Love trident.
