  1. Noooo! My fog! I hit you over the head with a weaponized walrus.
  2. Hi Stoic! Welcome to the Shard! I’m Dragonheir, and I’m also rather new. I haven’t yet standardized my new member questions, but here’s a few. Do you have any hobbies unrelated to Brandon Sanderson books? What do you think you’ll do on the shard? Do you want some suggestions?
  3. Tondon didn’t break the vial yet. He’s just threatening to do so. Edit: missed @BlueWildRye’s post above. It’s touching that the Redspine is so attached, but Tondon hasn’t exploded yet.
  4. “It… doesn’t care. It wants food.” Tondon chokes out. Then he tries to laugh, and takes a vial of red grains, and brings it to his mouth. “I’ll take you down with me. Red… help Astra and Jaksyn. …Corin… give my rewards and thanks to those three.” @BlueWildRye @WhyEverNot_8
  5. “Presumably a standardized set of equipment for survival in the wilderness. As long as we can find food, though, I think we’ll good, because those energy beams can probably be used to heat things up or start a campfire.” Vall looks at the shroud of plants surrounding the clearing. “I’m going to see if there’s anything useful past there.” Covering himself in scales to avoid scratches from the thorns, he pushes his way into the woods. @The Stormfather, I imagine you have something to say about this.
  6. Who are we jousting? Each other, or opponents? I shall block with the unicorn utility fog which I form into a squirrel shield. Utility fog is a very cool concept. It’s a bunch of nanorobots that float in the air and can form shapes on command. (A lot like the microbots in big hero 6) Depending on how advanced it is, it can also: Form sharp edges one unit thick Change color using quantum dots Assemble into larger machinery And create more of itself from materials nearby
  7. Tondon stops pulling, but not fast enough. The point of the sickle hits him in the eye, and he gasps in pain. It falls to the ground and he claps a hand of his eye, only to have it hurt even more. @WhyEverNot_8 @BlueWildRye He’s too distracted to see @Unintelligenius attacking Conner.
  8. Tondon Pulls back as hard as he can, keeping the shield in front of him. The Redspine dodges the sickle just in time, sending as many crimson spines towards Conner as it can from most directions. A few of the spikes go towards Tondon’s belt. Blocking them, he opens his steel box and puts the iron vials inside.
  9. Alliterative animal antics and aggressive attacks? I will join for some creative creature consonance combat craziness! (Assonance too, but that doesn’t start with the right letter.) I would like to acquire some unicorn utility fog, in case I need to defend myself. (Imaginary weapons require imaginary creatures, I’d imagine)
  10. Tondon stabs him again. @BlueWildRye @WhyEverNot_8
  11. “That makes sense. Good to know. I wonder if you can teach me to hide my aura. Or maybe even regain my true form.” He writes down those capabilities in his notebook as well. “I’d imagine whatever network that supports it is completely gone in this universe.”
  12. Tondon swings the sickle at Conner’s back. “You’re not doing too bad either.” @WhyEverNot_8
  13. "I've been making a list of our assets. I assume that your Ki use allows you to focus in battle and perform otherwise impossible feats of strength and coordination, similar to it's use by the monks of my world. Are there other capabilities that could be helpful? Yeah, and there's the Ki level sensing. Did you feel anything during that light?" He writes down the powers in his notebook.
  14. *he says to the man covered in glowing purple crystals who can speak into his mind, after being repeatedly teleported to another universe* "Very well, we may agree to disagree. Would any of your Ki applications be helpful in figuring out where we are or how to go somewhere else?"
  15. “Are they reusable?” Vall writes down the assets. “I’ve got this transformation,” Amethyst crystals coalesce around him, creating wings, a tail, claws, horns, and protective scales. “Gravity manipulation, though not much anymore; All I can do is circumvent the square-cube law and launch a minor space warp as a breath weapon. I’ve also got one way telepathy, which can get past a language barrier.” Telepathy to everybody in turn: “What about you, Larry? You’ve got that sending stone thing, some armor higher tech than I’ve ever seen, and the apparently-not-a-topaz-annihilator. Any other assets we could use?” @AltonicKeys Vall is carrying on three conversations at this point. (That’s the issue with asynchronous roleplaying.) “Plants grow, and they can choose which way, like toward the sun or water.” @Ancient Elantrian "Inner life force, the cultivation of which leads to power and martial prowess." “Magic is a colloquial term for any capabilities that require an external energy source or cause effects outside the jurisdiction of the ‘normal’ fundamental forces, which are typically divided as the electroweak form and the space time distortion, otherwise known as gravity. Any psychic powers, elemental manipulation, superhuman abilities derived from meditation; such as ki use, and most teleportation and inter-dimensional travel all qualify as ‘magic’. Some even argue that consciousness itself is a form of magic. Anyway, ‘magic’ is a very general catch-all term that has a variety of meanings. I’d refer to my own abilities as ‘limited dragonic psionics’, but magic would describe them as a general term.” He realizes how long his speech was, and looks slightly embarrassed. “I forgot to mention, but I’m also a scholar. I’ve studied both metaphysics and human culture, but no more than any other amethyst dragon. Maybe that can help me figure out how to get back to where we started. I’m beginning to think we aren’t even all from the same universe.”
  16. Tondon Pulls back his sickle, not caring that it hadn’t connected, and smirks. He twirls the sickle, trying to distract Conner from the incoming beast. (It did roar pretty loudly, but still.) @Edema Rue @WhyEverNot_8 @Unintelligenius
  17. Tondon brings his shield down to block the feint, then barely manages to avoid getting his throat cut, instead suffering a deep gash on his jaw. He throws the sickle in his hand at Conner, trying to throw his off balance, and calls out, “Red! Help!” @BlueWildRye @WhyEverNot_8
  18. “I’ve had trees uproot themselves and punch me with their branches. It takes some sort of magic for them to do so, though. I have a feeling that we’re not from places that follow the same rules…” he looks thoughtful, and pulls out a notebook. “Actually, we should probably compare what we know, and what we can do. It’d probably be useful in a fight to know our capabilities, so we can work together.”
  19. “Ki. I’ve heard it called that. I used to be able to sense magic, but then I made some stupid decisions and got locked like this.” Vall’s reserve of magic does seem mostly locked, somehow. It’s like 90% of his power is separated from him, but still around. “Some ordinary plants can move. I’ve seen ones that bite down on flies or fold in when rustled, and if you throw magic into the mix, you get things like awakened trees and shambling mounds.”
  20. “Well, that’s interesting. There doesn’t seem to be any murder chickens around here, so that’s good. These plants don’t look very safe, though. Don’t eat any of it, even if it does match my hair.” Vall’s hair is indeed, on closer inspection, a very dark purple rather than the black that it at first appears. He turns to Aki, who he hadn’t seen before (I don’t think, at least. @J. Magi?), and sticks out his hand for a handshake. “It’s nice to meet you. I’m Vall.”
  21. @Edema Rue
  22. “My name is Tondon. At first, I only wanted to survive, but I’ve realized now that to do so, I need to win.” He then swings the inside of his sickle to his left, trying to lock the pointy stick against his shield. If it works, he lunges forward with the sharp outside, trying to kill or at least distract Conner.
  23. Tondon rounds a corner and finds a tribute, who he hadn’t seen, due to their lack of metal. “Red! Tribute with no metal!” calls out, twisting his shield to try to protect himself. Several hits come through, and one knocks the wind out of him. He grunts, and drops to one knee. But this tribute doesn’t realize he has an edge. @BlueWildRye @WhyEverNot_8
