  1. Template nods. “If you believe not caring about anyone will make my life better, I will endeavor not to do so.”
  2. “I’ve existed for less than a day, so I don’t really know anyone well.” Wait… why does the Emperor have to fight it then? Rebus waits for the disembodied voice to actually lay out its terms.
  3. Alvar tries to determine how loyal the bandits are to Jerehlu, trying to be either in the same group as him or in the second group, depending upon how well holding him hostage might work.
  4. I will experiment. If my power can help the world, this is a thing that must happen. Dr. Warren nods, standing up and walking to a door. “We have machines that use different kinds of light to look at things. We’ll test it on the shadow energy, and if it doesn’t break anything, we can use it for its intended purpose and examine you. It’s standard medical procedure, replacing dissections as the general way to determine how anatomy works.”
  5. I watch. And I take. I make sure that none have too much power. I banish them from this world. Dr. Warren takes the vague explanation and assumes Adtae is part of some sort of checks and balances system. “Our initial experiment is set up, but if you want to keep talking you can.”
  6. Template shrugs again. “I suppose so. I don’t care about very much yet, but what if someone made me hurt someone I care about?” Template nods. “I believe it took over a hour for it to wear off the last time, and that was with an added variable. But we shall see.”
  7. Template looks at their hand, which did not exist until they called attention to it. “Do you think anyone can change me? Disembodied voice, has that happened before?” @Ookla the nostealnamepls
  8. It takes a second, but Template becomes blue. “Interesting. Are you a Narrator?”
  9. Template looks around. “Anyone here want to describe me? It’s for an experiment.” I think that’s @oOklA thE shInyYyy and @Ookla the Inconclusive
  10. Template gets up again. “We will need to go somewhere else to do that, I assume.”
  11. Template is noticeably vague. Their only details currently are yellow eyes and freckles. “Interesting. What’s an Author?”
  12. Template nods again, speaking out loud by accident. “It seems like it. I went back to being vague, and I remembered my name. But maybe that was caused by something else? I don’t have a lot of data.” Template is not detailed enough to be particularly surprised. “Good, that is helpful. What could make it feel magnetic and restructure someone easily, but fall apart eventually? Has that ever happened to anyone else?”
  13. Template nods. It does seem that way. Thanks to you changing my personality, I can now make my own decisions until the details go away. As a Narrator, I assume you would know about Narration, but are there any experts on it, or any generally wise scholars?
  14. Cole goes back inside and curled up in the courtyard, fast asleep in moments.
  15. No. I appeared, but I didn’t have anything I needed to do, so I didn’t do anything. Someone - a Narrator I think - appeared and gave me an identity, then made me forget. So before I appeared, I could have forgotten. And Narration is strange. It tugs, and ties in knots, and unravels.
  16. “Because I ‘killed’ the Duke. If I then stay with the people who worked for him, that means I’m working with them. And we need to surprise Rage, so we need to avoid giving it away.”
  17. Template sits back down, much to the potential bewilderment of others in the room. Rebus, waiting for the Faustian bargainer to respond, begins to try to twist the plot, or at least his Author, to his favor.
  18. Cole uses gestures to convey his message clearly. “So, I killed the Duke, right? Thus, if I’m staying here, that’s suspicious. So I can get a cool disguise, and someone else can pretend to be me and flee the area!”
  19. That was the main idea of the character, but I can fully improvise, at least until someone less benevolent gets ahold of them. Template, almost to the door, stops. “Good question. Who would know what I am, do you think, and how do I get to them?”
  20. Cole smiles. “Good ideas! Can you three scrounge up a decoy version of me to go on the run, to fake-out Rage? Ooh - I want a disguise!”
  21. Template, given undirected autonomy by the Narration, gets up. “Thank you. I am going to figure out what I am. Goodbye. Thank you for the cookies.” How am I to improv if not given prompts? Also, is there actually a way out of there?
  22. You can make me do that, if you want. I think it will work. Template thinks, missing the point.
  23. Template sits down again. I don’t know what to do, so I need something. Or I can go back and sit where I appeared.
  24. Cole thinks about it for a second. “What would I actually get from that? Freedom and Gronk, what do you think?” @Ookla the Dragonslayer
