I don't think Crow can use her spore-eating offensively. I believe that - if she could - she would do so more than once in the entirety of her time captaining the Dynamic. Starling simply mentions that her verdant aether emerged and ripped a man in half. This could have been in defence, perhaps the man was attacking Crow and the vines tore him apart to defend her. I.e she had no conscious control over it. This is speculation, of course, but I personally find it more plausible - especially if her condition has been weakened/tamed by Xisis.

A couple things. Firstly, we know for a fact that Aetherbound do work for the Malwish Empire, one appears on screen, this is simply not public knowledge. Also, the Ghostbloods appear to have more influence in Northern Scadrial, which appears to be distinct from the Malwish Empire. I dare say the Ghostbloods are still active - possibly in the Malwish Empire - they just don't make their influence obvious or well known to the layman - which they never have. Dajer notes that he has lung problems from the Battle of Aheleha. We know his metal mask is keeping him alive, which could be an application of hemalurgy. Though, the fact that gas is released makes this not a guarantee. IotE Chapter 38, Page 272
