  1. Granted. However, every time you play you pull a muscle. I wish for all timers to stop beeping.
  2. Sit down and read them. Free books! WWYDIYF the whole of Stardew Valley (the in-game place, not the game itself) in your pocket?
  3. That would be much simpler--and more efficient! Why don't they do that? ("I want your country and your people!" "I don't want you to have them!" "I challenge you to a chess duel!") The creative arrangement of words to create entire imaginary worlds, people, and events. If it can't be that, then I'd say music. Have you ever stood on the roof of a building?
  4. The what now? I have never heard of the Xanth books! *Looks them up* Wow. Given the tone of the back blurb, that's a fun series! Thanks for the accidental recommendation! TPBM likes the smell of peppermint.
  5. I am not a woodworker, but I do have one question: How are you planning to carve it? 'Cause I don't think an average woodcarving knife is going to be up to that task... Good luck, mate! I'm excited to see it when it's done!
  6. Yooo! Cardboard and duct tape! You, my friend, have chosen the best beginner sculpting medium! I love this project idea! My one bit of advice (maybe you know this already; if so, ignore me ) is that, if you're making the blade solely out of cardboard, make sure to give it a couple of layers and align the grain of the cardboard in as many different directions as you reasonably can to give it sturdiness. Cardboard likes to bend in frustrating places...
  7. Go to thrift stores! You never know what gems you might find there--stuff that fits perfectly, stuff that fits almost perfectly (and could be adjusted fairly easily, even by someone who can't sew), stuff with a lot of potential that you might want to use for a future project, etc. Keep any weird gems you find. I went to a panel on cosplaying at the LTUE writing symposium this year, and their main point was that you don't have to have a lot of money or a lot of sewing skills to make a decent cosplay. As long as you can thread a needle and put stitches in fabric in a few small spots (which anyone can do, really), you can probably pull off most of what you need to do with thrift store finds. Just make sure to check the materials, seams, linings, etc. to make sure they're of good quality--so, avoid cheap polyesters or super thin fabrics if you can, seams shouldn't really have any tailing threads hanging out of them, linings should be firmly attached to the outer fabric and not slide around in weird ways. For example from my own small experience in thrifting, I have a really nice leather backpack I found at my local thrift store for three dollars. If I were ever cosplaying a Medieval-era adventurer, that would be the bag I'd bring. For you, working with something more Asian, I recommend keeping an eye out for old, retired karate uniforms/gi's/kimonos (they have a few names). The ones I used during my karate career were always made with pretty sturdy canvas-ish fabric, and if you find a white one you can do a bit of Googling and see if there's a simple way to dye it a color you want (on the other hand, you could go to a martial arts supply website and buy a plain one in the color you choose. I'd guess it'd be a bit more expensive that way, but you don't have to dye it yourself and there'd be no school-affiliation patches to remove). If you do decide to do a lot of cosplaying, though, expect to learn some basic sewing skills. From what I've heard, you don't need a whole lot more than basics for most things, and there are probably online communities where you can do more general research, too. Good luck! Edit: Also, if you want a resource for steeping yourself in sewing and learning some basic hand-sewing stitches, I recommend Bernadette Banner on YouTube. She's got quite a few videos and resources on those sorts of things, and if you watch enough of her videos you'll get to see the pattern-drafting process a lot. She'll teach you about common mistakes, and basically just give you a lot of the things you'll need to help repair that negative talent. (If you're like me, though, and absolutely hate sewing with a passion despite the small talent you have... yeah, I don't know how to help you with that.)
  8. Eh. They were okay for one read-through, and I've read all the ones my dad owns, but I don't think I'll read them again. TPBM has a pink toothbrush.
  9. Good! Gotta start 'em early! Welcome to the Shard!
  10. Granted. (I also think that sounds amazing, but I still have to give you a boon...) The macadamia nuts become agry and return to attack you. I wish for the absurd.
  11. No, but I do prefer cats. Dogs occasionally eat my chickens--sometimes in large quantities. (One of ours ate 3 chickens in an afternoon once. I was very displeased.) TPBM thinks bricks are fascinating objects.
  12. No. The only person I can do an impression of is myself. What is the one food you think should never have been invented?
  13. Put some music on it. WWYDIYF a knife made of grass in your pocket?
  14. Shattered Plains, 100%. If I were on Patji, I'd be well and thoroughly screwed. At least on the Shattered Plains I'd have access to Stormlight occasionally, and/or a spren or Shardblade to help me chase chasmfiends away. WYR take up Odium or Autonomy?
  15. I have never seen a sitcom. I generally prefer to read books rather than watch TV. What is your least favorite mathematics/Calculus concept?
  16. Give it to a Michael Jordan fan. (I am not a sports fan, unless Irish dance counts as a sport.) WWYDIYF an angry leprechaun in your pocket?
  17. Occasionally. My cat snuck into the house and jumped on me at 2 am a few nights ago, because he likes drooling all over my fuzzy blanket. TPBM thinks mountains are the greatest type of landform on Earth.
  18. Record players are very cool, and both my brothers have one. I do not, but that's mostly because I don't have any records to be played, and little desire to have to worry overmuch about whether I'm killing such a precious item by touching it wrong. TPBM enjoys playing with polyhedrons (AKA D&D dice).
  19. I'm actually not sure... I'm not very good at keeping track of who I've responded to. TPBM wears boots frequently.
  20. Nope! I'm in a '98 Honda Civic! (Awesome car, by the way; she may be old, but she's relatively easy to fix for someone who knows how and she keeps on running like age ain't a thing!) TPBM is familiar with and/or loves Avatar: The Last Airbender (original version)
  21. Hurry and get it into the nearest body of water. WWYDIYF a miniature heron-mark sword in your pocket?
  22. Yep! Here you go (wherever it shows up upon posting time): TPBM thinks pocket knives are nifty.
  23. The deed has been done--I dip-dyed the ends of my hair this morning, and I'm super pleased with the result!

It's a little hard to see in dimmer lighting, but in the sun it really pops! 😁

      Thaidakar the Ghostblood

      Oooooohhhhhhh

      It looks great!!!

  24. I've reached 20,000 words on my new writing project! I've got to say, 20K words in under a week as original writing (rather than as part of a revision) probably breaks a record for me. :) Plus, working on this project has clarified a lot of things for my official work in process! *Raises imaginary glass* Here's a toast to further writing success in the near future! Hopefully y'all who also write will hit a stride soon, too!

  25. I wouldn't be at all surprised if she did--especially considering the Veil aspect of her personality. Invisible ink seems like the sort of thing Veil would love using! Edit: I'm not entirely sure this particular topic belongs in this particular subforum, though... Maybe Stormlight discussion? But I think it takes a mod to move it. @AonEne, am I correct?
