  1. I think he's great at description and most of his character building, but I really dislike how he uses his world. Or, really, how he doesn't use his world. He keeps hinting at the Others and other fantasy elements, but hardly ever actually does something with it. It seems like the world is there just to create fear or to show the characters travelling.

I don't know, I like certain elements and a few characters, but my interest in the series has dwindled a TON for multiple reasons.

  2. While I like Ellen Page I think Dakota Fanning would make a better Vin. Particularly now that she's grown up. Also, Fanning is just a damnation good actress.

I've also been thinking of someone like Dakota Fanning as Vin. She's a great actress, and she's a petite size, so I think it would work out pretty well.

  3. We also have chapter-by-chapter review of WoA on this very site, under blogs.

Ah, yes, I was looking through those a while ago. I should look at the newer ones as well.

ALSO, she has completed Way of Kings as well :D

There are a few posts for this one.

    Her first one was basically:

"30 pages in The Way of Kings and Brandon is already blowing my mind and making me feel inadequate.

    Well done, sir."

And here are the links for the rest (SPOILERS):

    Second

    Third

    Fourth

    Fifth

  4. Hilarious. Let me know if this person does Way of Kings.

    I shall :D I'm hoping they do!

I read "attracted" instead of "attached" there. damnation you brain. I think I broke myself.

The rest of the reactions are hilarious. I hope this person does WoK also.

Oh my goodness, that is so funny xP

I recall from an earlish episode of the RPGBacktrack podcast one guest describing the Mistborn series as something like "the repeated use of 'Nice Job Breaking it, Hero' before things finally get better." (for the characters. He loves Sanderson's books.) Certainly not as amusing as those comments on Tumblr.

That's pretty much how it it, though.

  5. On tumblr I sometimes stumble across people's liveblogging reactions to Mistborn, and most of the time they're pretty funny. And then I feel bad....

BUT ANYWAYS, this is one of the best reaction post series I've seen:

    -Final Empire

    -Well of Ascension

    -Hero of Ages

    Some of my favorite quote:

"IS THIS THE END OF ORESEUR SKJFKSDHG CRYING OVER A TALKING DOG THIS IS MY LIFE"

"wow you guys weren’t kidding when you said things only got worse, huh? hahahahahahahahah hysterical sobbing"

"Oh great now I’m attatched to Human. Just kill me."

"be extraordinary at job. get ritually killed and controlled by evil force. there’s just no winning sometimes."

"i’m glad vin is feeling peaceful cause i’m broken inside"

Anyone else have awesome reaction stories?

  6. No, I'm pretty sure he's not. But Korra's going to be doing a lot more for the Equalists cause when she gets out. Why ?

"You're our avatar too!" Right where it hurts.

Also, am I the only one frustrated with the pointlessness of the Council? How they just always do what Tarrlock wants? And I understand why the Equalists are frustrated with the government if the Air Nation (pop: 50 with the acolades) gets a representative, and there's no one for the common people. Even if Tenzin is the best guy on the council.

I saw a pretty awesome analysis about this on tumblr, actually. Here it is.

  7. Ah, yeah, the shaky camera was annoying, especially when she was just walking around. You couldn't see the scenes as well because of that. But I really loved in the wasp scene. I think that was done really well. It's definitely one of my favorite scenes.

One of the things I was disappointed with was when she and Peeta were being presented to the capitol. I think they could--and should--have made the fire more dramatic. It seemed a little wimpy to me.

  8. Personally, I didn't enjoy the books as much as other people. I thought they were pretty good, as in the plot was interesting but the style was a little lacking. And the next two books went a little downhill...

On the other hand, I really enjoyed the movie. I found out from somewhere (I forgot where exactly) that Susan Collins had originally wanted to write the story as a screen-write, but those are hard to sell. I think the movie is one of the better book-to-movie adaptions I have seen...although I really haven't seen too many. I'm looking forward to how they handle the next two movies (if they will make them. Does anybody have news on this?).

Anyway, I was curious to see your reactions and thoughts.

  9. Meelo? Yes, he's a riot.

New series wins so far imho, the only things I'm upset about are:

Sokka is not a crazy old grandfather/uncle figure.

Toph is also apparently gone. She was the youngest of the group!! (And my favorite >.>)

I totally thought the crazy bush dude was Sokka.

  10. For the Cosmere universe...it changes a lot. Sometimes it's this picture of galaxies/space with a crystal-like thing in the middle-ish (though not exactly. It's kind of hard to explain D:). Sometimes it's kind of a universal "solar system" thing....And it's always kind of vague, since I haven't given too much thought on it.

But for the books/planets specifically, it's a lot clearer. When I think of Scadrial I imagine a lonely red/brown planet (for the trilogy). For Roshar it's a lot livelier, with some more color, but kind of...desperate. Most of the images I come up with other than things like that are directly from the books.
