  1. Your complaint about your fatigue about the never-ending stream of products has merit. I understand that a lot of these items and releases can be seen as pandering. But I personally don't believe that Brandon NEEDS to pander. He is one of the most commercially successful fantasy authors of our time, and I don't think he is as greedy as you portray him as. Maybe I am wrong, but these items seem in response to fan wishes. The Sunlit Man was HIS project, where he got to dive into Cosmere mechanics that he couldn't in standalone novels. I agree that some parts of W&T felt cringey, but I don't think this was because of a focus on speed-writing. Additonally, it was not long for the sake of being long. There was so much to wrap up, and Brandon cut a lot of the book. Tor had to reinvent ways to bind books because this was too big. Brandon even cut the Ars Arcanum, which would pad pages if that was really his intent, to make room for more story. The time I've devoted to these arguments is probably pointless, as this seems like a bot. However, I appreciate some valid critques of Dragonsteel.
  2. Another point is that getting to the spiritual realm is not easy. It took both bondsmiths, and some help from Wit, to get all of the assorted characters in there. I assume that directly intervening, Retribution will have a much harder time transporting thousands of people. He would either need completely willing volunteers, or no competing powers on Roshar ( I believe?) so that they can access his perpendicularity.
  3. ohhhh thank you. I totally forgot about that. Man this family's relationships are complicated
  4. I feel like I'm crazy. Wouldn't Dalinar's step daughter be hypothetically Evi's daughter, and wouldn't Jasnah be his niece? Who is the stepdaughter Wit is referring to here? "“Alas,” Wit said, checking his curious offworld pocket watch, “as much as I’d like for you to stare at me lovingly all day, Dalinar, you have things to do. Also, I’ve been sleeping with your stepdaughter so, you know, it would be awkward.”" Page 1164, Chapter 127 "Their Homes Become Our Dens"
  5. . All cosmere spoilers. I was going to make a post asking what society is the most technologically advanced, with Scadrial on top and Threnody or Lumar on the bottom. But then I realized- where has inventions people? The simplest answer is- they don’t exist yet. Brandon hasn’t written the book yet. (though some theories think Sunlit man is set on one of invention’s experiments). But what’s going to be the explanation? We see that Scadrians poke their noses in everywhere in the space stage. We see Elantrians in Tress. We also see a Rosharan interfering in SOTD 2. So all of these societies are out there in the space stage. But where are the inventors? So i’d like to hear your theories about what’s keeping them from the space stage Some of my theories: Invention doesn't rule over humans, Invention made too many awakened machines, Invention did an Ashyn, Invention is building something bigger than the death star, etc.
  6. I tried to avoid any spoilers, so I hadn't seen this
  7. Hello! I'm Velsii and I've currently read every cosmere book ( I think?). I'm so excited because now that I have a better understanding of the cosmere I can finally start theory crafting. My fav books have been TWOK, WOR, Warbreaker, Elantris (I love the 2 ppl fall in love w/out knowing that they know eachother), Tress, and Yumi. What's your favorite cosmere book? (not including novellas like SFSITFOH or SOTD)
  8. As the title suggests- when did you realize Sigzil was Nomad? Some of my first clues and thought processes- "Those plants... their movements reminded him of home- a place without soil." I knew this was Roshar at this point. "Aux was a shapeshifting metal tool" I knew that it was a knight radiant. "He'd always been inquisitive. even after he'd become a soldier- pointedly turning away from the life of a scholar-" Thought it was renarin here "Many had pale skin, though nearly as many had darker skin like his." This was when I assumed it was Sigzil. "His distant, former master would be proud of him." And this was where I confirmed it was Sigzil. Any other clues y'all found before this point? His meeting with Wit basically confirmed it.
  9. Personally I don't think it's whimsy because this seems to be the opposite of Whimsy tbh
  10. How much does a Shard's perception of themselves affect their future sight? Spoilers for RoW I’ve been reading some of the wikis on shard futuresight, and apparently Brandon has stated that shard identity is important in their perception. The vessel impacts how they can tell the future, like how T-Odium can see possibilities Rayse was blind to. Some shards are better at it than others, such as Cultivation being able to see farther than Ruin. I would love to be able to ask this for a q&a stream to get a word of brandon, but i can’t find where to submit questions. As such, I’m going to leave my question here: How much does a vessels conception of a shard impact their future sight? For example, if a devout Vorin- with their fear of futuresight- were to ascend to cultivation, would they see as far as the current shard? And before brandon says, their experience matters, would they see as far as the shard initially saw when they first ascended? Let's say Taravangian, and all citizens of Roshar, had the impression that Odium was the absolute best at future sight. That he could see every path and turn for millennia. Would Taravangian be better at seeing the future because his perception of the shard has changed?
