  1. "Yeah?"
  2. "True. She's everywhere. She has to come to kill us. Then we can fight her." "Guy describes all genders."
  3. She sat on the floor, pulling Cedar down next to her, laying her head on his shoulder.
  4. "BBEG... Big Bad Evil Guy?" The boy asks. "I'd suppose so. Mind taking us back? If you can, of course. I don't wanna strain the kid." Weaver says, laying a hand on the One who Dream's shoulder. "Agreed." Clay said, "Not a fun place."
  5. "Hm? It's on a very common form of magic, but one that is difficult to learn. I figured if you want all magics, you would want to start here."
  6. "My my. Using forged and UNGENUINE ElanBuck™s? How unethical of you!"
  7. "No... no need."
  8. “Okay.”
  9. “Well… I wouldn’t object to going to the Great Library of the One gone Mad… now that the boy isn’t protecting it anymore…”
  10. Elan nods, grabbing a book from his left, trying to keep his hands from shaking. “On the Connected Mind, By Lane Alterin-Hetemendiont.”
  11. “RIGHT?!” Elan shouts into the crowd. ”For one genuine ElanBuck™, yes you can!”
  12. “Sorry…” Aydri says, looking at the ground.
  13. Elan looks up. “Ah! Welcome to my thera- I mean… library! Wanna check out a book?”
  14. “She’s coming back.” Weaver said, “I hate to put this on you now, but Liae has turned evil and is trying to destroy… well, everything. We need your help to stop her.” The boy blinks. “Liae… evil? No… that’s… I mean…” he shakes his head in disbelief.
  15. “Is that what that was? Next time use the genuine ElanGodKillerDagger™! Guaranteed to work every time!”
  16. “I do! I love thick beer!” Elan says.
  17. “Stop telling yourself that.”
  18. The boy waves a hand. “That should do it.” He creases his brow. “Why can I do that?”
  19. “Nah. Definitely.”
  20. “I’m… I don’t remember.” The boy says. “All I remember is… the dreams…” he gets a far off look in his eyes.
  21. “You’re amazing.” Aydri grins.
  22. “No. You could not do that.” Weaver says, his eyes fading. Then a soft voice speaks up. A child’s voice. “I’m… back.”
  23. “I often think the same thing,” Aydri says, arms wrapped around Cedar, feeling his breathing and pulse.
  24. Elan sits alone, in the middle of a pile of books. No. You’re over that. Don’t-touch-the-book.” He squeezes his eyes shut, clenching his fists. You can’t fail. Not again.
  25. Clay sprints out the door, and once the others come through slams it shut, panting.
