  2. I wonder...I know that on the Allomancy poster, it only mentions Chromium and Nicrosil wiping/Duralumin-ing Allomantic reserves. But no one would have tested it on Feruchemical reserves; what if you could wipe (or, with Nicrosil, cause them to surge) someone's Feruchemical storages, a least by a Leecher/Nicro with enough skill.

  4. I had never thought of that, but I really like the idea. My only problem with it is that it seems like a rather...preservative effect for the body of Ruin.
  5. Lightsong, you know you can change your appearance? We need you to shrink so you're less than a meter tall. And you need to be really thin, so you'll fit in a scabbard. We'll drop fruit down to you periodically. But you won't need more Breath this way. If you get bored, Allmother suggests we tie the scabbard to a squirrel and say "Almond Grass." In all (okay, at least somewhat more) seriousness, Nightblood may only draw Breath when he's in contact with someone. The scabbard could just be a way to keep Nightblood convenient (and safe) without Vasher touching him physically.
  6. No, TLR suppressed gunpowder, so there were no cannons. Unless you meant canon, in which case I understand it to be semi-canon; taken as accurate until contradicted by anything in a novel or by Word of Brandon.
  7. This is a good point, and one that would not seem to apply to Atium (which seems to be one-use without any lasting effects continuing to later generations). What might balance the continuing presence of mistings (other than beginning the Pits again), is the continued use of hemalurgy in earrings. True, it's very slight, but it's also potentially permanent (because spikes can be reduced, reused, and recycled), like the presence of allomantic power.
  8. ...Because you believe that the people who stay around politicians (meaning within range of Duralumin connection) a lot are not corrupt?
  9. Very nice! It's too bad they didn't come charged so you could begin soulcasting immediately.
  10. Perhaps it varies. Most of AonDor is modifiers, so while the Chasm line may be a particularly important one, it is still a modifier of sorts. When the Aon turned Dilaf's wife into something very much like the "dead, sule" Elantrians, it was because a basic line was missing. The lack of the basic line did not prevent it from doing magic; on the contrary, it made her practically immortal, albeit with a terrible cost. So perhaps the Chasm line can be added to certain repetitions of the Aon Aon to bring them out. It may radically change the details of modifiers, but Raoden will be well qualified to figure them out, because already has studied (old) AonDor so much.
  11. Remember, if you put a spike in yourself without it being at a hemalurgic bind point, it's just a piece of metal in your body. If that's a earring, it's not a problem. If it's a full-sized spike in your liver (and if that's not a bind point), then it's the same as a big piece of metal lodged in your liver. Meaning you will die rather quickly. The spike can substitute for organs (an brains) only if it has a hemalurgic charge and is at the proper bind point. So to preserve the charge in a spike, you would need to do so in such a way that you weren't killed in the process.
  12. However, Spook removed a spike that was giving him power, not stealing them. Had a steel spike gone through Spook where it would steal his tin, but somehow lodged in him, it might have temporarily allowed his Spiritweb to stay intact, but once it was removed, it would have pulled a part of his Preservation out of him, even if it didn't physically kill him. As it happened, it probably only took off a piece of someone's Preservation grafted onto his Spiritweb, without seriously harming his own.
  13. Hero of Ages, hardcover page 58 We know TLR knew of it and used it. I doubt he needed it himself; even if he didn't give atium to the Inquisitors, he could have supplied himself with it. It makes sense that he would have given electrum to the inquisitors so they could fight atium-users. If he wanted atium burned through rather than stored, it would have been easy to have an atium burning party with he and the Inquisitors to use up everything left over for the year. Doing so would have made the secrecy of storing it in the Homeland unnecessary. Perhaps burning it makes it regrow in the Pits more quickly (or perhaps he believed that, which would have the same effect on his actions). Either way, if his goal was to use up atium, he was fully capable of doing that. The potential problem with having Inquisitors burn electrum is that they would have required an atium spike for a non-atium power. That's theoretically possible, yes, but using an atium spike might use more atium than most Inquisitors would use in many years without electrum. However, if he always recovered the bodies of dead inquisitors, he could have reused their atium spikes indefinitely, possibly making it efficient again. Plus, it is a fairly effective way of storing atium; it never gets burned (presuming that, for whatever reason, he didn't want that), and no one is really going to steal it from an Inquisitor's chest.
  14. On the Seventeenth day of Koloss Head Munching (the Koloss started a little early...), the Cosmere gave to me: The 17th Shard, 16 Basic metals, 15 Requests before a dead squirrel was sent, 14 Strokes in a new Aon Rao, 13 Inquisitors, 12 Beads of Lerasium, 11 Standard spikes, 10 Essences, 9 Statues of Heralds, 8 Elendel octants, 7 Ashmounts, 6 Beads of atium, 5 Scholars, Bridge 4, 3 Realms, 2 God metals, And the 1 and only Hoid! (Yes, I disregarded the meter for the most part, in favor of making each number connect to something specific in the books.)
  15. I think that this should address number 6. It's not perfectly canon, as it was deleted, but I'm guessing it still applies: Note that lines is plural, so she could presumably pull/push on different points of the metal (not just its center of mass). I wonder if that's the way with all pieces of metal; the book describes thicker lines for larger sources, but what if those are actually collections of small lines to individual points on the piece of metal, bundled so closely together that they form a single meta-line?
  16. I'm more inclined toward the idea of having them be powers of 2, perhaps starting at 16. So 0-15 is one level (or perhaps 0-7 and 8-15 are two), 16-31 is the next, 32-63 is the next, etc. It would make leveling up slower, but would have a sort of elegance. Also, could there be a rank for any reputation below 0, like Skaze or Voidbringer or something? It wouldn't happen often, but might be kind of entertaining.
  17. Given that there was a Hoid-in-training level, perhaps there could be some level that was "World-hopper" or something. Or perhaps "King's Wit." Perhaps set the highest level as "Adonalsium" (But have it at a reputation of 1000 or 1024, so people would rarely reach it, if ever). Although it would be kind of funny if there highest level were something like "Beggar/Informant/Storyteller/Wit."
  18. Out of curiosity, is there any title above "Shard"? You've been a Shard for a rather long time, and I've wondered if it might still upgrade (at 200 or 250 reputation or some such).
  19. (picking up from KChan's) And paneled the door (it also had to be done)
  20. Is there a glitch in the comment count? At the moment, it says there are 4, but only my one is showing up (I'm guessing that this post will make it say that there are 5). Thanks for rescuing the n from the koloss, by the way.
  21. When I read the title of this post, I have the strange feeling a Koloss somewhere is munching on a letter n.
  22. Scadrial, pre-Hero of Ages: Ruin: Kill them! Kill them! Preservation: What? Ruin: I'm playing Angry Birds, can't you tell? I'm going to kill those pigs! Centuries later on Nalthis: Lightsong: Tell Allmother it's her turn in Words with Friends. Llarimar: I believe she told you not to bother her. Lightsong: I'm developing a new skill: Irritation by app! Centuries later, on Roshar: Szeth: Is this the next person you command me to kill? Taravangian: No, that's the high score I want you to get on Fruit Ninja. Szeth: I suppose this is one of your low-IQ days... Taravangian: I have no idea what you're talking about. Szeth: Exactly.
  23. So is Hoid trying to make Adonalsium 2.0, which will run on an Apple and won't crash again? Nalthis? Think what happens around Susebron. Or how any Returned can change form if they know how.
  24. Many thanks, Chaos. Now I can monitor which of my attempts to take over the Cosmere with upvotes have been most successful. Muahaha! *ahem* I mean, I have often wondered about the same thing, and this will be helpful.
  25. Now, see, this would be a perfect addition to a pile of books to drop on a table at a ball. True gentlemen always drop books on tables and ignore most others. Have you ever known Straff Venture to do such a noble thing? And I've heard this book was banned by the Lord Ruler for a time for containing dangerous information. All the better, although it might need a false cover.
