I agree with @Thaidakar the Ghostblood on Harry Potter, it’s definitely got some flaws but I just love it so much. For LoTR, I personally just don’t like the books themselves. I love Middle-Earth, I love the sheer extent of worldbuilding, I love that things like The Simmirilian exist, I love that he created a whole rusting language, but the writing itself I just can’t read, I just end up bored. I also feel like most of his characters aren’t fleshed out, they more exist solely to help the plot. The plot’s great, though.
