Gamemaker Call
Anansi sits back in his white padded chair, kicking his feet up on the desk. Screens covered in cameras and audio surround him, hundreds of sounds and images float around him as other gamemakers type furiously to manage everything.
A young man, probably 12 years old, walks up to him. He has similar features to Anansi, medium brown hair with dark olive skin. His eyes have a dark blue shade to them with gold flakes on the edges. He is of lean build, the biggest difference to Anansi.
You could never say Anansi was a lean man, he always had what his mother called “Natural Muscle.” However, as he’s gotten older some of that faded away. Still, the young man is nearly a clone of Anansi himself.
“The phone is ringing…” He mumbles, yet his voice is more noticeable than the endless audio and images around Anansi, it has a unique squeakiness to it.
“Is it now?” He leans over from his chair and picks up the phone, looking to see who could be bothering him as such an enjoyable time. Before he can even see the name the young boy answers his question.
“Your henchmen.” Anansi swats his hand at him, grinning his classic pearly smile.
“Don’t call them that… at least not when they can hear.” The boy leans on his chair.
“Well aren’t they?” He smiles back at Anansi.
“They are, but they don’t like to admit it. You’ll understand one day, pride corrupts people Cassy.” The boy cuts him off, a bit of a joking tone in his voice.
“I told you to stop calling me that, Ani.”
“And I told you to stop calling me Ani, looks like we are at a standstill.” They go silent for a minute just staring at each other before Anansi ruffles his hair.
“You're as stubborn and ridiculous as your mama.” The boy rolls his eyes.
“Nuh-uh. She fell in love with you.” I just grin at him.
“You know what, whatever Cassian, I don’t have time for this.” He pushes him off the chair playfully.
“Fine, Dad.” Cassian sticks his tongue out at Anansi.
“Now get on, I got a call to take.” He shoos him off before looking down at the still ringing phone. That boy sure was a lot like him whether he liked it or not. He chuckles to himself.
How’d I end up with an angel for a son…
Anansi answers the call and leans back.
“Anansi Bonswear, Head Gamemaker, speaking…”
