    Addison decided she’d ask Tal about why he’d put himself in that room later. She didn’t think surrounding him with people was a good idea. “Do you want to leave?” she whispered to him. “Get away from everyone?”

    He smiled. What she said made sense. She didn’t need him for physical protection, though he’d try to protect her anyway. No, she needed him for her to be happy. He understood that, he needed her for the same reason. She was facing him, a perfect opportunity to kiss her. So he did.

    “Why?” Such a simple question. What need could she, this wonderful, beautiful girl, have for him? He was a failure, coward. He was useless. No matter what she said about it, he was more of a drag on people than a helpful person. And he could see it in Jenny too.

    “It’s really fine.” He twisted a hand through her hair, playing with it. He realized he still questioned something, and he needed it answered. “Do you need me?”

    He jumped up in alarm at the sudden motion, hands raised, Gift raised. He lowered it as he realized they weren’t in danger. “It’s fine.”

    He snuggled even closer, right up next to her. “I love you, you know that, right?” He hid the fact that he still felt useless. She didn’t need to know.

    He smiled faintly at her, but it wasn’t a true smile. “It was a small cyclops, and it was already hurt. I didn’t even get the spoils, Roy did. But I will protect you.” He put his head on her shoulder. “Thank you.”

    I’m just seeing a very large correlation between words used in mistborn and this, ferromancer sounds like a blend of feruchemist and allomancer, and tapping a metal is the same wording as with feruchemy.
