Daniel ran in front of him, blocking his path. “Answer my question.”

Daniel immediately sprinted in that direction.

Daniel raised the knife to his own throat. “You say don’t give up the moment I fail?”

“I do. The only reason I’m not dead is because I have someone to save. But I should have already saved her. I’m a failure.”

I’m a little confused by this, as I’ve never treated someone I like similarly to a sibling. Is that what you’re saying or am I just reading it very poorly? -
“Why? I should have died. I deserve to die.”

He follows her, looking like a wounded puppy. “Where is he? Did you lie to me?”

“How do you know?” he asked.

He froze. “She’s not?” he whispered.

Daniel rushed forward. “I’m going to kill you!!!”

Daniel raised his knife. “You work for him don’t you! I’m going to kill you!!!” he screamed hysterically.

“I said get out of my way.”

“I’m going to save her. Don’t get in my way.”

“I’m going to save her,” he said, his voice still monotone.

Daniel stood, knife in hand, and walked out the door. “Who are you?” he said in a monotone voice.

Daniel raised the knife. Am I really going to do this? He touched the point to his neck, putting a little bit of pressure on it. He felt it break the skin. Then he stopped. This wasn’t right. He would save her.
