“Ok. I’m still going to try to help you though.”

Helda smiled to herself and took his arm again.

“Yeah, this body is just different from others. I feel like I’m relearning how to do things.”

“Thanks,” she said, embarrassed.

“I’m not. If you need something from me, don’t hesitate to ask me.” She tripped on a stone in the ground.

“I’m really grateful to you, I owe you a great debt. Is there anything I can do to repay it?”

“I wasn’t. But at the same time, I kind of was, it’s confusing.”

She let go of his arm quickly. “I am too. I’m sorry for how I was before.”

“I understand that.” She squeezed his arm again. “If it helps, I’m really glad that you were the one to live.”

“I do not think so. You’re special so you did not die, but she may have died an irreversible death long before you could have gotten back.”

“You can have sympathy, but you should not feel guilt.”

“It was not your fault.” She tightened her grip on his arm. “And you saved me from that curse. I would have hurt for your loss.”

“Just alright? Is something wrong?”

“Like…myself? This is my first true body for a long time. I am not truly myself in others. It’s nice. How about you?”

Daniel sat on the earth continuing to weep. Should he check on Rex? No, that would make it worse. He had to let her be, it would be better that way. Then he heard something hit the ground. He jumped at the noise, then slowly clambered to his feet. What had that been? He started walking to investigate, and soon came across Rex’s still body. He screamed in agony. @Just-A-Stick

He let her. When she was out of sight, he began to cry again. She took it gratefully.

“…not really, sorry.” - - - “I’m…sorry. This is how it has to be.” Why was protecting her so hard? @Just-A-Stick

She started to walk, then stumbled a little bit. “You can’t stop that but you’ll force me to hurt you? How can that be your decision?”

She blushed even deeper. “I can walk. I think.” “But you can force this on me?” More pain shot through Daniel, he knew what this would do to her. But it was the only way.
