Daniel immediately stopped crying, face frozen in shock.

Daniel immediately began sobbing uncontrollably.

“I do too.” He began stroking her hair again.

“Let them be. I…I want to stay like this.”

“Then you can heal. I swear I will do my best to let you heal before that happens, but if it does, you can heal, you can come back.” He pulled her head onto his chest, putting his other arm around her.

“Then please, tell me what’s wrong.” He sank down next to her, wrapping an arm around her.

“Do you trust me?”

“What’s wrong?” He asked, emotion slowly returning to his voice.

“Fine.”

“I don’t know,” he said, still monotone.

He followed her meekly.
