He smiled. “Me too.”

“That’s good.” He kissed her again.

“Is there anything I can do to help you feel less alone?”

“I love you too, more than anything.”

“Of course, I’m always here for you.” He gently lifted her head and kissed her softly.

He stroked her hair gently, unsure of what exactly to say. “Don’t apologize for how you feel. And I know it doesn’t help, but I don’t think you’re a failure.”

“Ok. Can you try?”

“Thanks. If you don’t want to tell me, you don’t have to.”

He pulled her closer to him, putting his forehead against hers. “You can tell me anything, ok?”

“Is it? Is it really?”

“Please, don’t blame yourself for this.”

“And it’s mine too.”

“If anything then it’s both of our faults,” he said, taking her good hand in his.

“It isn’t your fault,” Daniel said gently. “Anyway, aren’t we supposed to be out soon?”

“What?”

“I don’t think so.”

“Thanks? You’re incredible.”

He laughed at that. “I don’t think anyone’s said that to me before.”

He ran a hand through her hair, then down her back, holding her close.

He smiled at that, wrapping her in his arms.
