See, geckos achieve their amazing ability to climb walls and other flat surfaces by using millions of tiny hairs that use van der waals forces between atoms, molecules, and other intermolecular forces. But, while a Kandra couldn't make the hairs themselves, they could probably take them off of real geckos that they grew in a terrarium for that purpose.

From what I remember, Kandra have a very hard time replictating hair. This is probably possible, but would be very difficult to pull of, as you would probably need to place each hair exactly right.

For Elantrian to win they would have to crack the plate open to leech them out of Stormlight, manipulate their connection and curse them out of them. That would be hard but possible, like maybe by drawing a very powerful Aon Daa?

Could Aon Daa effect Shardplate? It seems like it sens a powerful blast of Investiture, and we know that Sharplate is hard to effect with Investiture. The Elantrian might have a better time soulcasting some air above the Radiant into a large stone and letting that fall on them, although I don't know how much that would do.

Also, I think that this is very dependant on the type of Radiant. If we look at Radiants as just having Blade and Plate, they're powerful, but they would also have access to the Surges.

I still think that the Elantrian would win, as they're just so powerful, but I just wanted to bring up some points as devil's advocate.

  3. (Yumi and the Nightmare Painter spoilers):

    Spoiler

Probably Kilahito on Komashi. It's feels very modern day, and it looks like it would be quite nice to live there. The lack of the sun could be strange, but I'm basically a vampire anyway, so not much would change. The Nightmares might be a bit scary, but they don't seem to be a big deal to most of the residents. Also, their carnival looked pretty cool.

  4. Okay, so we know that Hemalurgy plasters a part of someone else's Spiritweb onto your Spiritweb, which would fundamentally change your Spiritweb and Spiritual DNA. We also know that Allomancy and Feruchemy are stored in Spiritual DNA, and that's how they're passed on.
So, if someone who was not previously an Allomancer, but who gained a power through Hemalurgy had a child, would that child have a chance of being an allomancer? I'm not talking about Inquisitors, because I think that's a different question entirely, that Brandon has been purposefully vague about.

The only potential problem is that in addition to food after a pewter drag, you also need sleep, which this combo doesn't cover (although I wonder if a A-Pewter/F-Copper twinborn would be able to do something similar)

Do you mean F-Bronze? F-Copper allows you to store memories, while F-Bronze allows you to store wakefullness.

Bringing up Pewter Dragging, I'm just imagining an A-Pewter/F-Steel Twinborn doing it. With enough speed, you could probably Pewter Drag what would take a normal Thug hours in minutes.

They could possibly become so Invested (even if temporarily) that they could gain a greater comprehension of the Metallic arts and the world around them, sort of like a little-mini ascension

Was it the Investiture itself that gave The Lord Ruler his knowledge of the Metallic Arts, or was it his Connection to Preservation? I don't think Raw Investiture can give knowledge on its own.

  7. Shardblades sever the attachments of body parts to the soul, making them grey on humans. But what if you cut a Kandra with one? Would their body mass be separated from their "essence"? Would they be able to take it back? What if a spike is cut? The spikes would of course be difficult to cut, seeing as they're Invested, but I'm sure you could cut them with enough work.
    Thoughts?

I thought sazed said that it affected gravity, after he floated down at the start of The Well Of Ascension

He said that it didn't affect gravity, but since he was so light, the air resistance became important and allowed him to fall slowly.

    Quote

Sazed's fall didn't slow because of his decrease in weight—it slowed because he suddenly had a relatively large amount of surface exposed to the wind of his fall, and a lighter body to go along with it.

I do wonder though, does Bronzemind storing actually provide the beneficial effects of sleep, or is it more like you have to sacrifice waking hours to lie there becoming as useless as a sleeping person without actually falling asleep?

I think the sleep is what's being stored, so you'd wake up and feel like you didn't sleep at all. But then you can tap the sleep, and you will feel the effects of the sleep.

  10. Could you use (SA spoilers)

    Spoiler

Could you use Raysium to conduct the Investiture from your body to the Medallion, and ensure that it doesn't come back? Or am I just reaching at straws now?

Moreover this spike was made out of an inquisitor spike which was split into multiple smaller earrings, and thus the charge was divided into many spikes, weakening it even further.

Can you turn one spike into multiple? That seems to have some major ramifications!

  12. So, Wax has a Hemalurgic spike as an earring, and every hemalurgic spike has a charge, that's what makes it a Hemalurgic spike. I'm guessing it doesn't contain an Allomantic or Feruchemical power other than those he already has, because he'd probably notice it. It probably isn't any that contains a human's innate Investiture (like the Kandra Blessings), because we know that even one of those can cause you to be greatly disformed. It might be one of the Spiritual ones, so something like Connection or Destiny, but I really don't know.

    What do you think?

  13. So, once someone starts storing something in a medallion, it will continue even in their sleep. I was wondering, if there was a way to jump-start that process, what could the uses be? A Bronzemind could be used as a tranquiliser, and also as an anaesthetic in hospitals. You could make handcuffs with Pewterminds and Electrumminds, to make people bad at escaping, and to steal their will of escaping (though that might count as psychological warfare).  Firefighters could use Ironminds to make people easier to carry, and therefore to save. A Mafia might give someone a Cadmiummind and then push them into a pond, forcing them to breathe in all the water (that one might be a bit macabre).

What other uses could this have?

  14. So far, we have only ever seen External metals put in the Primer Cubes, but we don't know what happens for Internal Metals. I recall hearing that an putting Aluminum in a Primer Cube means that no Investiture can be used in the area, but how is that different to Chromiim. Would Tin cause everyone in the area to seem like they're burning tin. I could understand what Copper might do, but what would Bronze do? How about Gold? Does everyone see a gold shadow? What do you all think?

  15. We know that every person has a Spiritweb that is made up of Investiture, and we know that Investiture can not be created or destroyed. My question is what happens to that Investiture when you die? We know that most souls go to the Beyond, but I don't think the Spiritweb would go there, since that seems a bit like Investiture being destroyed. It would also allow people to trace things into the Beyond, which I'm pretty sure is impossible.

  16. I always assumed that it contains Ruin's Investiture because Ruin is Entropy, so anything that is destroyed is through him. The Shards are all pieces of the power used to make the Universe, so each Shard's Intent is in line with an entire Universal Constant. Anything honorable is of Honor, any invention is of Invention. Just because the Shard isn't aware of it, that doesn't mean it isn't part of that Shard's power.

I don't know if that makes a lot of sense, but that's how I viewed it.

  17. Do you think the Selish arts are location dependent because the Shards were Splintered and put in the Cognitive realm? There is no distance in the Spiritual Realm, so location doesn't matter, but there is most certainly distance in the Cognitive Realm. And since the Shards, and therefore their Investiture, are in the Cognitive Realm, location matters.
