Didn't actually take that into account. A possibility but I have been working off the assumption the Skybreaker we see is a singer.
I reread the chapter with the Skybreaker, and the description of the purplish hue is gone. Now our only evidence that he was a singer was that he spoke with "an unnatural air".
QuoteThe deep voice had a peculiar cast to it. Not an accent, like someone from a backwater isle, but still a kind of…unnatural air.
I don't know if this means that he's no longer a singer, or if Brandon just doesn't want it to be as obvious.

In the book, Dusk seems to describe the emberdark as an infinite deep, without a bottom. It also doesn't seem to exert any friction or buoyant forces on uninvested items. We know that it's at least very deep from the skullsnake which was so deep that Dusk mistook its size.
However, Starling doesn't seem to really care if she falls into the emberdark, saying that Dajer would be able to fish her out while falling.
QuoteStarling—indestructible but unable to transform into her winged form—could safely be allowed to fall through the darkness of the unsea until the crisis was over. Then she could be recovered from the still-plummeting wreckage, snatched from among the corpses of her friends.
How would she be rescued from the unsea? Can they travel through it in a sort of submarine?

It can also heal lost limbs, and bring you back after a full explosion. At that point, it's past natural healing, and is probably more similar to Radiant Healing (bringing the physical aspect in line with the spiritual aspect through the lens of the cognitive aspect).

Alternately, Seons speak through SR Connection - and the tech level when Kelsier spoke to Shallan was significantly lower (Era 2), so Era 4 tech may have found ways to fix the problem of communicateing to/from Silverlight (possibly a Bendalloy/Cadmium fabrial to manipulate the comm signal).
I hadn't considered a speed bubble. I don't think it would affect the comm singal, because then you still have the problem of reaction time. People in Silverlight would react to things 10 times slower than those outside, so they'd probably have to communicate from within a speed bubble.

At the end of the book, Xisis makes contact with those on First of the Sun using a device that can communicate through the emberdark.
The part that intrigues me is that, despite Silverlight having 10:1 time dilation, Xisis speaks completely normally for the Eelakins. When Kelsier spoke to Shallan in WaT, the time dilation had an effect on the communication, which the Seon had to make up for, but I don't think the communication device could have done that (Xisis would have to take a long time to answer, which we didn't see).
How does the communication occur with the time dilation? Is this something anyone could do with a communication device, or just a dragon?

I think zinc is more relevant to aiming a gun than steel is. Theoretically, you can move your gun to the right position quickly enough without F-steel, it’s finding the right position that takes time. Steel seems to only enhance reactions, and while blocking a hit, or striking with a melee attack, would fall into that category, I don’t think aiming a gun would. Of course, if you tap both, you can both aim and fire at ridiculous speeds. With enough chromium, you might be able to substitute that for zinc, but that seems more costly to me.
Bleeder shot 4 people in less than a second at the start of AoL though. She was able to aim, shoot, and move around the room incredibly quickly.

Edit: oh, and could this potentially be a way to possess a much larger Hemalurgic spike? After all, if you can take a Koloss blade and Invest it with a power, then use the wire to pierce the correct Bindpoint, you now have a much, much larger storage space for your Hemalurgic Investiture.
I really like the first idea, but I don't have much to comment on. Talking about this though, I don't think that the Storage Space for Hemalurgy is much of a problem. You'd still only be able to put one charge in it, though you would be able to put a more powerful "power" into it.
Talking about that, do you think any of TLR's powers could fit inside a normal Hemalurgic spike? He was incredibly powerful, because of his Lerasium, and the fact that he was a Sliver, so could all of that power fit inside a normal sized Hemalurgic Spike?

I don't think many Singers would choose to have children outside of Mateform though, as they wouldn't have any want to when not in Mateform.

I have an important question! Dyel's mother is a radiant, and therefore can't leave Roshar because of her Connection to it. What did those Iriali do? Did they break their oaths, or did they stay on Roshar?

Does anyone else think that maybe Cusicech opened the Perpendicularities and started the journey to the Fifth Land because of what's going to happen to Roshar when Dalinar duels Odium's champion?
Because I do.
Could that imply that all the departures of the Iriali were because of rising tentions on the planet?

Could you create cadmium bubbles but molded in a way so that you are extremely close to the edge and can walk out? I can't remember if the bubble collapses or not after the misting leaves.
The bubble collapses when the Misting leaves, sadly. So that might have been cool, but from what we know it's not possible

I believe the reason the inquisitor's couldn't get durilium mistings for spikes was because durilium wasn't known, but it could still be burned on it's own.
There were some Inquisitors who could burn duralumin in HoA, but they had to have spikes from Mistborn, because they couldn't test for Mistings.

I don't understand why you would say that Wayne is in Slytherin? He doesn't seem cunning or ambitious at all.

But she couldn't use Abrasion, so that means that the negation of powers at least partially effected her.

Okay, so in RoW the Fused had control of the tower, and "disabled' the Radiants' access to surges. The only surges that we saw work were Adhesion and Progression. Now I would think that they work as they are the Surges most closely associated with the two other Shards on Roshar, Honor and Cultivation, but we have seen a Fused with the power of Progression. He was the one that fought Jasnah and could grow his carapace at will.
So if Odium's forces have access to the surge, why didn't Voidlight disable it? We could say it's just Lift being weird, but she still wasn't able to access Abrasion, so I think it's something different.
Any ideas?

In these forums we've been hearing a lot about F-Steel, F-Gold, and especially F-Tin. Those are all great metals, but I've heard enough. I want to hear about the best underrated Feruchemical metal. I want to hear why F-Bronze is your favourite metal, or why eveyone should want F-Electrum! Chat away! No judgement here, why is F-Cadmium the best metal in your personal very niche scenario!

It is most likely just some oversight while writing. I feel like I have read some WoB talking about why they didn't all die in Uritheru after the use of the oathgate and it having some sort of dome of protection or something... I imagine that can easily just be retconed to say that Roshar is so highly invested that atmospheric pressure doesn't matter.
Navani found out that the pressure at Urithiru rises before a strom, which shows that Urithiru has the power to regulate its own pressure:
Quote"More proof; the data was growing as mountainous as these peaks. The tower could regulate temperature, pressure, humidity. If Urithiru could be made fully functional, life up here would improve dramatically."

what about making a bubble your not in
You can't make a bubble that your're not in. When you make a Speed Bubble, it is centered around yourself, and if you leave it, the bubble "pops" and disappears. So you would always have to be in the bubble.
You might be able to do it with an Allomantic Grenade, but those aren't available to the public.1 -

Atium would likely have much higher melting point, so it would be unaffected.
Does Atium have a melting point? We know that Harmonium does not change state due to heat or pressure, so maybe Atium doesn't either.

I believe it was mentioned somewhere that all Atium (that they used in the HoA) had a bit of gold in it, and wasn't 100% pure.
It's been confirmed that it contains Electrum, and that's why its powers are so similar to Electrum. Pure Atium allows you to see directly into the Spiritual Realm, similar to what happened to Elend at the end of HoA.

Spoilers for Hoid (with a side of White Sand, Warbreaker, and Stormlight 5 sample chapters), but:
it seems like he uses a combination of White sand and Perfect Color Recognition to measure investiture in some sort of quantitative way. To most people it would appear like White Sand blinks from Black to White in a binary state, but it appears like he can get more scale information out of the Sand, and I believe his Heightenings are doing it.
SpoilerAt the end of RoW, Hoid has his Breaths stolen by Odium, which caused him to lose his Perfect Pitch. I would think that if he doesn't have Perfect Pitch, he wouldn't have Perfect Colour Recognition, unless he took some Breaths out of Awakened Objects.

We know that Malatium (the Eleventh Metal) is an alloy of Atium and Gold. This fits the pattern of turning Temporal Internal Metals external by alloying them with Atium (Electrum-Atium sees others' futures, Malatium sees others' pasts). But I have two questions about this. First, I don't know a lot about alloying metals, but I'd assume that you need to first melt them, and we know that it is impossible to melt God Metals through normal means. When Wax was trying to melt Harmonium, he found that their states of matter are not affected by temperature or pressure (otherwise the Mists would be burning everyone's lungs). So, how did the person who made it melt it down to mix it with gold?
Also, if the metal in the Pits is partially Electrum, does that mean there is Electrum in Malatium? Most of Electrum is gold, but there's still stuff like Silver and Copper in there, so wouldn't that make it not Allomantically viable?I'm excited to hear your ideas!

So, here's the thing. . . ToES spoilers
Ulaam, who is a Kandra, says that he cannot split his consciousness (even though there were times he wished he could).
So it's probably not possible to do for Kandra in their current state. Maybe they could use more Spikes to Connect multiple split off pieces of themselves though, similar to. . . SA spoilers-
SpoilerI'm not talking about a split consciousness, I'm more talking about one consciousness split over multiple bodies that are physically connected. So like a Sleepless, but the hordelings are physically connected together.

Kandra: becomes the SWAT team.
This might be really farfetched, but we know that Kandras' consciousnesses come from their spikes, and as long as there's any part of the Kandra touches that main mass, they can control it (at least from my understanding. So, with enough mass, could they become multiple people? If they connected them together with wires of Kandra goop (I don't know what to call it), could they become an entire SWAT team?
I just have a mental image of 3 people standing side to side holding guns with a small piece of meat between them, that all speak in unison as if one person. Kandra are creepy!

Relativistic Light Speed in a Bubble
in Mistborn
Posted
Do we think that the speed of light in a speed bubble is the same for someone inside a bubble as it is for someone outside?
How could this be checked? The only way I can think of is putting a speed bubble inbetween two mirrors, and measuring the number of times the light bounces off each mirror. This same experiment could be conducted from inside the bubble, and the speeds could be compared.
What consequences would this have? We already know that there's some magic which prevents Blue and Redshift from happening, but what other things could be caused?
