  1. One of his biggest draws for many is how he handles the rules of his magic and that he himself has stated that his magic is more like science than magic.  I like his stories, but I do not like how he handles magic.  I want magic to feel like magic, not technology or science.  magic to me is always drawing on mystical forces, not the way he describes them. Elantris feels more like energy pulled from the earth, but his other systems feel less magical for lack of a better term.

  2. I do, but I do not like the direction it has been going lately.  I hate breakable weapons (especially if they can't be repaired) and other factors in BOTW and in the upcoming TotK.  I miss the old Zelda formula.  LTTP, OoT, TP, and SS are my favorites.  Z1 is the most nostalgic due to it's 80's sound effects and the memes.

  3. I am not sure if this is what you mean or not, but in one of his most recent books, I was somewhat uncomfortable with certain jokes he had in the story.  One involved crude descriptions of male genitalia, and other one was a lengthy description (though still not pornographic) description of bondage sex.  Neither were completely terrible, but still did not sit right with me anyway.  There were other things I took issue with in that book, but that one is too controversial to mention here.  That being said, he is still my favorite author.

What if … you were invested with a bunch of Breaths so your allergies were gone and poison wouldn’t kill you and you could travel anywhere in the Cosmere with the Breath?

if you still don’t really know here is another question: if you could only choose one, would you rather meet Wayne, Lightsong or Lift?

Lightsong so he could introduce me to Blushweaver because I hope I am her type, LOL!  I know, I cheated.  But for spoilers him and Blushweaver because that was rough.

Agreed! Brandon actually did write a couple books based on the Infinity Blade game. I have not read them but I am sure they are good.

I could also see him writing a Parasite Eve novel if only because of the "Magic, but really science" approach he seems to have to magic.  That is what I heard him call it anyway.  In various youtube videos.

    Cradle by Will Wight.
    Mage Errant by John Bierce.
To some degree, Shami Stovall's Frith Chronicles count as well, though less than the other two unless a magic sword is an exception to your aversion against weapons.

Need to know more about the sword in this case I guess.  if it is a magic sword in name only, that is kind of a bummer, but if it can do more than just stab things, then I could look into it.  Does it have any long range attack capabilties through its magic?  Can it act as a seal against evil, or even to unlock something?  Does its form change over time?  Things like that are interesting, but I will not dock points off if it is not like that.

  7. THanks much!  I should clerify that by nuking the field, what I really mean is I prefer magic in general rather than someone who uses swords, ect.  They do not need to be a nuke, but I get bored easily with people who use regular weapons if they are a protagonist.  I guess I play too many JRPGs where the main character always uses a sword when I would rather a staff or tome for spell enhancement.

  8. I wish American authors were allowed to write full epic novels for JRPGS.  Brandon Sanderson would make an AMAZING Novel for Final Fantasy 6, IMO.

    Both stories feature

    a girl with a secret

    an empire

    a resistance

a villain who becomes a god

a cult that dedicates itself to said god

and a world event that reshapes the globe and taints everything red and brown, lol!

Welcome! If you’re wondering about the profile pictures, they are for the anniversary of Brandon’s announcement of the secret projects.

Which Cosmere world do you think has the best food?

Yeah I was wondering about that to be honest.

As to the food of the Cosmere, I am tragically notoriously picky and highly nervous when it comes to food because I am sadly allergic to a lot of things at best, so I am unsure how to answer the question.

Yesssss!! It's incredible, although it does take a substantial amount of time to get through it all.

Not sure when I will get some info, but I did make another topic in what I hope was the proper location concerning book recs.  I mentioned Moiraine in it.

  11. to keep it simple:

-no grimdark or overly grim style or ending. (No graphic descriptions of sexual assault or foul lanquage.  I do not need to have a rape scene fully described to me, in order to know it is happening and bad.)

-Bonus points for main protagonist being a non human female Elvish or Fae character that uses magic as a weapon, rather than swords or other normal gear.  Human is still fine if no Elvish or Fae are available, but previous rule magic still applies..  Think Dumbledore or Moirane from Wheel of Time.  I want a character who can nuke the field if he or she wanted to, rather than just charging in with axe swinging.

    -Can be YA or Adult.

-non modern or real world setting.  Fictional middle earth type is what I like.

-Somewhat controversially: Romance is fine, but only Hetero, please. I also prefer it to not be obscene or weird like GRR Martin stuff.

-I am limited to where I can shop online, so please do not suggest anything being sold at online sites not named Amazon.

  12. I have all of his Cosmere stuff and all of his skyward content with the exception of defending Elysium.  The skyward series is the only non cosmere series I enjoy by him.  Read all the rest as well of course.
