    She held up a finger and tucked Lukas into her bed. She wrapped his arms around his puppy. She stepped into her closet, and after a few moments stepped back out wearing a dress that went to her knees. It was white above the waist and the skirt was yellow. Leather sandals were on her feet, and her hair was up fancily. She walked over to Pic and put her arm in his. She looped her arms under her illusion’s and stepped backwards to the portal.

    “Oooh, right, that hive charge. Thought you meant using beehives as renewable energy. My bad.” Rui did as she instructed, and it seemed to the guards to work exactly as intended. However, since the guard outfit, and hence the charge, as well as the Rui they’d captured, were illusions, nothing really happened.

    Oh, Lily… I’m so sorry. I did this to protect you, Meron, and Mom… How could they have done this to you? Because they’re people. People killed my father for taking too long to repay his debts. People tried to prostitute me and took my mother instead. People shut us out after that. Is it really so much of a surprise that they would do this too? Now that she knew it was there, she could feel the blood on her scalp, staining her auburn hair a deeper red. She felt it under her fingernails. Beneath its bandage, the cut on her cheek throbbed. These were people, after all, that only took payments in blood. And now before her laid the choice - her blood, Tinker’s, or Lily’s. Because that was the only currency that people like this would accept. Pain. She had to fight him. That knowledge caused pain itself. If she refused, God knew what they would do to Lily to get to her… That made it so much worse. I can’t spill his blood, not now. But if I don’t, it would be as though I was hurting Lily… [Dang] it all. [Dang] Gamemakers.

    She nodded. “I’ll let her know.” Hey, can I have your help with something? You know, I’m a little busy at the moment… reconstructing after a war, you know? Can you at least hear me out? Okay. There’s a kid who needs help- I’m in. ~~~ Akarui appeared on the boys’ home planet, using one of her powers to absorb the light around her, and another to do something else, which I will not be revealing at this time.
