    There was a new pain. That was all she knew. It was a quick pain, thank goodness. This one left quickly. The rest dulled, but only barely. Between the five stab wounds and the burns, the pain meds didn't do much overall.

    What I mean: My character has been stabbed five times by her adoptive son and is bleeding out in a sand dune and her friend who she doesn't know as a crush on her had to come back from the dead to save her
