    While Mark was out of the room, after a few moments, Marewill quietly said to Tinker, “I want to marry you.” He looked at her with a confused smile on his face. “Isn’t that.. kind of the whole point of being engaged?” ”Well, yeah, but like… right now.” He blinked. “I… Mare, I want that too, but we have to wait at least a bit. For one thing, I doubt the city would let us get a marriage certificate with your injury being this bad, and for another, they just started working on our house.” She sighed. “Yeah… yeah, you’re right.” He smiled and kissed her head. “I appreciate the sentiment, though.” ”As soon as we can?” ”Promise.”

    Slowly, she started to seem more and more like herself. At one point, Marewill tried to take the IV drip out of her wrist and both herself and her fiancé laughed as he held her down. He did let her eat the soup on her own, though.

    Marewill chuckled. A few seconds later, her family and Tinker returned, the later holding a bowl of soup. He sat next to her and, despite her initial, feeble protests, started spooning it over.
