  1. "I-I... I couldn't.... stop... stop myself..." Her voice was weak, strained.
  2. She knew he had taken something, but what it was, she wasn't sure. It didn't matter. Did anything? Did she?
  3. Aventine gasped for air and coughed out the water from her lungs. Yep - she was crying.
  4. Jar Man hears bubbling, but no response.
  5. Aventine's Room Although her clothes were still on, Aventine sat in a tub of hot water. Her experience in the hallway had been... well, strange, and it had made her nervous, so she drew a bath to calm down. Well, she wasn't cleaning herself, so maybe it wasn't a bath? She was in a tub of water, so she decided to call it a bath. Just what she had tried so hard to escape had caught up with her again. A druggie, people who didn't seem to care about what she thought or said... It felt inescapable. Aventine leaned back in the tub, holding her breath. She hoped the warmth of the water would at least soothe the emotional coldness she felt a little. Just end it. Open your mouth and end it. It was bizarre. She was crying underwater - at least, she thought she was. This was getting too hard. Maybe... some way out was there. Aventine opened her mouth, and water began to rush in. @Ookla of Ravens
  6. As all this continued in the other world, a figure stood and watched, but no heed was paid to them. After all, they weren't attacking, so they didn't seem to pose a threat. This figure was different than the one who had contaminated the water supply, however they were the one who had gone through trial and error to develop AmNeSIAc. That was the only compound they created that the boss wanted, though. The figure pulled a pouch from their pocket and sniffed it up their nose. Immediately, the complicated and painful thoughts that had been rising inside of them disappeared in a swirl similar to ecstasy. The boss had allowed them to continue making their mixtures, but not to use them in the main compound. Fine with them. They had access to all the chemicals they could ever desire. They looked again to the struggle with the children, and specifically at Jar Man, with an intent but no desire. The effect of all they had inhaled over time - they were growing more apathetic. If their most recent development, AmNeSIAc, was defeated by a group of misfits in an insanity clinic, things wouldn't go well for them. They and the other figure, currently in the clinic itself, had to insure its success in a controlled environment. If it worked at the clinic, it would work everywhere.
  7. Aventine had stayed behind to calm down and get a hold on her emotions again. She wandered the halls. Maybe she would meet new people. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The figure was undetectable once again. Their boss had ordered them to return to the clinic and see the effects of AmNeSIAc and whether or not it had been as potent as they desired. They had observed the fiasco in the basement from the monitors, but now their boss wanted "boots on the ground," so to speak. No biggie. They didn't have anything else to occupy their time anyway. Even if it was on orders, something to do was always appreciated. The figure froze suddenly. They had seen a familiar face walking around. The face of someone with a similar past of mental torture. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Aventine stopped. She felt like she was being watched. She turned to look down the hallway, but no one was there. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Not anymore, anyway.
  8. Aventine glanced in the corner. Her buckets were still there.
  9. Aventine sang quietly to herself at a volume where almost no one else could hear her. "Scared, oh, I thought I knew scared, but I'm so filled with fear, I can barely move Doubt, I've had my share of doubt, but never more than right now, I'm wondering 'where are you?' Here on the edge of fall apart, somehow your promises find my troubled heart This is the truth I'm standing on, even when all my strength is gone You are faithful forever, I know you'll never let me fall Right now, I'm choosing to believe someday soon I'll look back and see All the pain had a purpose, Your plan was perfect all along This is the truth I'm standing on"
  10. Maybe... maybe I can- What? Make it worse? Rioting is useless in this situation and many others. I've got to be able to do something. Useless.
  11. "Uh, listen, I know I took your side in this argument, but that's not the most convincing with your track record. No offense."
  12. "You're digging your own grave now."
  13. "I mean, I completely understand where you're coming from. And Jar Man definitely has to work on his addictions."
  14. Aventine detected despair in Mel. You would be more help to others if you were a Soother...
  15. "About whether Nameless should drink Jar Man's glucose."
  16. "Er... just.. ignoring me... okay." Just like at "home", huh...
  17. Aventine crossed her arms. "If we got someone on staff to verify Jar Man as a medic, will you allow it?" @Edema Rue @InfiniteInsanity @Aeoryi
