    I’m home from school sick today (don’t worry, I’ll be better by Dragonsteel OR ELSE) and it’s pouring rain outside.

    So, naturally, I made a cup of herbal tea and sat on the porch listening to musical-theatrey songs about rain, including It’s Raining on Prom Night, A Little Fall of Rain, and Dancing in the Rain. Recommendations are being tearfully and gratefully accepted.

    “Like you said, he would have found a way there no matter what.” Rue frowned back.

    “He was. If I had been stronger, he wouldn’t be stuck down there.”

    “Can’t I?” Rue’s gaze was cold.

    “Oh, Lils…” Eddie put an arm around her. “I’m here.”

    “Don’t do it again, and we won’t have a problem.” Tal rambled off a long list of instructions.

    “Not everyone can. I was just saying that if your magic works that way, it isn’t portal resistant.”

    “We don’t need to talk about him now, though,” Eddie said. “How are you doing? What have I missed here?”

    Eddie nodded. “The university is a lonely place. But with him there, I can survive living without my best friend by my side.” She gave Lilyana a tight smile.

    Xi watched this interaction curiously, spreading her eyes so she had one facing Sleeper and one facing Joseph.

    “Before that,” Rue said. “He…yeah. We might still be able to get him back…I don’t know.” “Well, you can walk. Or you can make a portal. Or…there are a lot of ways, actually.”
