  1. Rue shook her head. Oh, light. Why am I so afraid? "Okay."
  2. "What does it matter to you?" Dilsha was, in fact, somewhat decent at avoiding questions she didn't want to answer.
  3. @OoklatheConfused
  4. Dilsha frowned. "What are you talking about?"
  5. She considered for a moment. "Make sure the other guards understand who's in charge. And secure the prisons." "Hello there, spirits."
  6. Dilsha also dismounted. "I was," she said.
  7. "I'm not your daughter," Zira said sharply. "And it doesn't matter anyway. He's gone, and it's too late to make a different choice. She turned and marched out, up to the control room. @Ati16 @Ookla of Ravens "You! Be useful."
  8. Pol groaned, picking up the pan. "But I don't like burned potatoes!"
  9. NO STOP MAKING ELAN MAD EVERY TIME YOU DO I LOSE AAAAGGHHH
  10. Dilsha snorted. "I won't stop you, but maybe...hold off for a little longer. The urchin is with the...Prince." @Ookla the Magician
  11. Rue looked away. Light, this isn't how this was supposed to go.
  12. Dilsha shrugged uncomfortably. "We don't...where I'm from, we don't have urchins. Thieves are killed, so there aren't many of those, either. I don't know quite how to treat one."
  13. Tal shoves it in his pocket. "For other reasons! Some people like scream therapy, and not all of them stick their heads into pillows at the end of Rhythm of War! You just reminded me of it is all." "I don't know," Rue whispered. "But I can't stay here." "See ya," Tal called after him, then scribbled another note. Install those teleportation elevators.
  14. Rue looked at him. "I want to feel safe. And I want to not hurt anyone. That won't happen if you're there." "Okay," Tal says, taking a slightly glowing green key off the wall. here we go again "Up 8 flights of stairs, then turn left at the weird rock, you'll know it when you see it, then down the slide and it'll be the 16th room on the ceiling." Tal scribbled down a note, flinching. Reminder: soundproof all the rooms.
  15. Happy birthday!!

  16. "I don't know. Away from here." "Nice," Tal says, wincing. "Practice will help. Yup. If you'd like, I can make sure your room is soundproof."
  17. "Stop that."
  18. "I'm leaving," Rue said abruptly. "Leaving the clinic." Tal subtly pushed a few papers over his copy of Words of Radiance. "Right. Sure. A flute. I can do that." He closed his eyes and concentrated. A flute in one of the basements disappeared and reappeared in his hand. "This work?"
  19. "You heard him," Dilsha says smoothly. He would make an excellent gua--stop that! He's your friend. You're going to need to learn what that means.
  20. Zira turned back, eyes cold and angry. "Every single day. But it was him or me. And I would rather be alone on top of the world than serving someone else with him by my side."
  21. "It is," Zira agreed. "And the ones who come out on top must be crueler." She turned to go. "I hope it hurts."
  22. "Is it, now?" Dilsha gave him a cool look. Decay. Rot and decay. What does he want?
  23. "Maybe there's nothing to be done," Rue said quietly. "Some things have no solution." Tal nodded. "Okay. That's something to go on. Are you...ah...a poet, maybe? Or a painter? A musician?"
