  1. Cora looked confused. "It's just another job."
  2. "The guy brought me here?"
  3. "I'm ready for a break. We take care of this, and then we don't have to worry anymore. Ideally."
  4. "What does that mean?"
  5. Cora flinched slightly. "Okay."
  6. Insa frowned. "Well, it starts with Saar being helpful for once. She hates Bookwyrm. She tried to convince me he had died once. There's been no sign of him and now he's here, of all places. And on top of all that, it feels as if there is someone new to this story, someone I don't recgonize. And I can't tell their motive."
  7. Insa nodded. "Alright then. Best get going then." She started down the path. "We should hit the town in... oh, 15 minutes or so?"
  8. "You don't look like you're fine."
  9. She pokes back out. "Are you alright?" Her voice is rather quiet.
  10. Insa pulled a small mirror out of a bag and looked at her new appearance. "This should work." She snapped, and her clothing changed to something close to what Mrs. Laurier had been wearing. She looked out at the path. "Saar said that we should head north." She pointed along the path. "If we go that way, we'll eventually reach the camps and the palace." She frowned. "I can't help but feel that something is extraordinarily wrong here."
  11. Cora pulls back and hides behind the doorway.
  12. Cora awoke to the sound. She quietly climbed out of the bed and peeked her head out of the doorway to see what was going on.
  13. As Insa watched Elan walk back in, Saar began to speak. Head to the north. And be sure to pick up a paper called the Early Post. Insa smiled at the Lauriers. "Thank you so much for all your help." She stood. "We need to get going now. But I'll be sure to see you again before we leave." Mrs. Laurier walked them to the door. "Be careful." Insa gave her a soft and kind smile. "We will. I promise."
  14. That would probably be good. We'll take care of that once we leave here. Mrs. Laurier hurried back in carrying a bundle of clothes, which she handed to Elan. "There's a room just down the hallway where you can change."
  15. Just one more. "You said travel restrictions have lightened. Anything else major changed?" Mr. Laurier shook his head. "I think that's all, really." Insa nodded. "And perhaps would you have some of Ian's old clothes still?" She motioned to Elan, "It'll be helpful to blend in." Mrs. Laurier nodded. "What about you? I'm sure I could find something for you." Insa smiled, "I've got it covered for myself, but thank you." She nodded and rushed out of the room. Mr. Laurier watched her leave and then turned to them. He spoke, but his voice was a little lower. "Whatever you're planning, Insa, be careful. You're still a target. And don't give yourself away easily, the public knows your face and your story. Not everyone is on your side." Insa looked a little taken aback and glanced at Elan. Perhaps this is going to be more dangerous than I originally thought.
  16. Cora nodded and wandered into one of them. She headed straight for the bed. She was out as soon as her head hit the pillow.
  17. Cora nodded and then yawned. "I'm tired. You run fast."
  18. Mr. Laurier thought for a moment. "Probably up to two towns away."
  19. "If they were being obvious that they aren't from here, they probably wouldn't have gotten too far before someone showed up offering to help, who would have really been sent to take him in to the Head. But if they knew how to act and how to hide it, they could have gotten pretty far before the Head noticed." Saar? What's going on? Hm? Oh. I'm not sure. Don't have any other information on Bookwyrm? I'll poke around and let you know. I kind of stopped paying attention. Of course.
  20. Knocking on the door. I was hoping they would have answered, but it makes sense they didn't.
