    FANTASY-NO MAGIC

The door opened, and he came inside. As he closed the door behind him she could see more then the normal amount of guards outside. He certainly wasn't 'roaming free.' August had changed clothes and gotten cleaned up in the short time after arriving. He seemed so different now that he was back in expensive clothing and his hair was combed. Smaller, maybe. "How are you?"

    He blushed. "M-maybe."

"August, are you okay to talk?"
  4. More silence. The wagon hadn't been touched since earlier that evening, the bandits hadn't even started to unload the treasure yet.

"Why . . . would I tell you and not Niamh?" He just shrugged and looked at the floor. "He wasn't! August forced him to go . . . but you wouldn't know," He said, loosing steam. "I shouldn't have to argue this with you . . ." There was a soft knock on her door.

    FANTASY-NO MAGIC

"Oh yeah . . . well we don't really have a dungeon. A few hundred years ago they converted into part of the--" He cut himself off, face wrinkling in thought. "No, it's probably best that you don't know about that for now."

"What'd you expect?" June asked, looking over at her. He never ran out of questions, it seemed. "Don't call July a traitor," June said, sitting straight up and staring at her.

    FANTASY-NO MAGIC

Jouken is one of the largest cities in the empire, the buildings stretch over the hills in a blanket for miles in every direction. There is no distinct city border or wall, instead the structures slowly get further apart as they bleeds into the surrounding farmland. They party is quickly escorted to the palace, a large building of hard stone that looks like a patchwork of different buildings from different time periods. It's set on a hill, making it visible from most parts of the city even though it wasn't more then two stories tall. It only had one tower, which shot up towards the sky from it's-south most side. August and July are lead into a different part of the building, likely locked in their personal chambers. The rest are, somewhat surprisingly left in a large sitting room, instead of a jail cell. It wasn't the nicest room in the building, and could use more furnishing, but there were large windows and chairs. October and March left everyone there to go report to the Emperor that they'd returned. June was left to watch over them, and they locked the door on their way out. June plopped down on one of the sofa's and started playing with a lock of his hair, clearly bored.
  10. "And who is that?" He glanced at the tents and wagons. "Are they still asleep? That'd be a surprise considering all the racket we've made."
  11. "Perhaps, but this discussion has derailed and I have no reason to share it with you," Jerehlu said waving absently. "What we really need to discuss are terms of surrender; you and you're fellow job-seekers have been captured, yes? But I am a very good man and so I would rather not leave you penny-less on the side of the round."
  12. "You'd better carry it then, I suppose."
  13. "Yes, it's very tragic and poetic and such. I'm doing fine now though, and I'll be even better off with you're money--no need to worry!" Jerehlu insisted with a chuckle.
  14. . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . me????
  15. "Because I was around 8 at the time, and Terjin is lawful enough to have child labor restrictions," Jerehlu continued. "But that's a story for another time."
  16. "Is that it?" Penn asked.
