Penn came back from scouting at the mouth of the alleyway (which is my plot reason for why he wasn't there for all of this). "Um . . . did I miss something?"

"Oh crap she's gonna eat more people." Penn ran his hands through his hair. He lead them down the alleyway, hopefully away from any people.

"Um, no." The burst outside, entering into a small back ally. An overturned dumpster is in one corner, trash all over the ground. Some neon yellow graffiti that was mid at best (objectively speaking) decorated one of the grey walls. The flames coil up and ignite the next building over from the one you just left.

"Well she's . . . sort of having a mental breakdown? I can't quite remember what triggered it, violence probably. She used to function and communicate a lot easier, but then she kind of lost her mind, and now she keeps setting things on fire." Penn gestured towards the smoke and fire that had grown down the stairwell and into the lobby area behind them. They were almost to the door now.

"Uh . . . I dunno," he points at Xi, "That kind?" The group were nearing the end of the hall, which had a set of back doors. Outside the grey sky was darkening to be . . . more grey. No stars.

"Welcome to the Reshuk universe," Penn said as he jogged down the hall, Xi close behind, "We actually just here too, but this building is bad news so we're escaping now." "You wouldn't happen to know anything about helping Wraith's would you?"

"Right!" Penn runs down a nearby hallway that might lead to the back of the building. It has lot's of doors on either side. This building is what looks to be some kind of a hotel, though it's not super fancy. Or it least it was a hotel, the place looks trashed and abandoned. "We're moving away from the sound okay? Come this way and it'll get quieter."

(Penn was able to grab her hand despite that earlier but okay) They reach the end of the stairs which open up to a ground floor. The sirens are louder now, lights from the trucks shining in through the windows.

"No." Penn grabbed her hand and tries to lead her farther down the stairs, maybe there would be a back door they could escape through.

Penn glanced at the burned corpse in the corner. "Oh yeah, forgot about that one . . . all the more reason to leave with haste."

"O- okay then . . ." Sirens sound in the distance, probably the city's firemen finally taking notice of the smoking building. "We had better get out of here before they arrive, we could get arrested for vandalism or something."

"Yeah but . . . doesn't that hurt?" Penn had a concerned expression on his face.

"Wait what? "Also maybe avoid mentioning her parents from now on? I think that makes things worse."

"Xi! Stop! You shouldn't kill people even if they aren't nice, it's wrong!"

"Xi no, he's a friend remember? A friend."

"Okay, okay, that's better, but we need to go outside now so maybe no fire at all for a while?" "Oh," Penn blushed a little, embarrassed, "I see."

Penn gave sleeper a stern look. "If she knows that she won't stop," He mouthed, "Lets pretend to be mortal, just for a little kay? for the sake of the random people outside." "Xi, you didn't go away because you're a wraith, we, your friends, are not wraiths, and will go away, okay?"

"Xi, we're your friends. If we die, we'll go away and never come back!"
