  1. Murr shuddered as he watched Casper die. Keeping himself fairly distant from the shore, he whistled again, indicating his shoulder. El flew above and settled there. Murr scratched her head lightly, and she cooed. "I can't be letting you get hurt, now can I? Anyway, I don't think there's much of anything you or I can do." He continued to watch as the fight went on. @The Stormfather @SpiritOfWrath
  2. Murr is not going to try. Berin has a machete, is strong, and has clear bloodlust. Murr is small, weak, and his only potential weapon is an unwieldy stick.
  3. El squawked as she approached and flapped away, seeing that Berin was no longer exposed and nervous of the violent movement. Murr inched closer to the shore, ready to push back out if need be.
  4. As the fighting went on, another shrill whistle could be heard, and the nearby Aviars quickly swooped in behind Berin, talons extended to claw the back of his neck.
  5. Want to see some cats?

Ah, yes. It's been there for a while... I think I finished that first book though I barely remember it. Never got to the rest.

Yeah the second book lost me.

I liked the first one though.

  6. El now stayed well back, perching at the nearest tree and watching him warily.
  7. In spite of himself, Murr continued to see the fight play out. Maybe... He made an ear-splitting whistle, catching El's attention, before pointing across the water at Berin. She obediently flew toward him, and in some way seemed to understand that this time he wanted more than a distraction. Moving very fast, she swept by his face and scored a cut with her talons, leaving his range just as quickly.
  8. Murr's chest tightened as he saw the fighting begin, restricting his breathing. A yell of pain. "We could have been friends." Blood soaking the earth. He got a grip on himself, turning away from the death. This one, at least, I have no part in.
  9. The blue and yellow Aviar from the raft flew in a bit closer, seeming to watch. Murr watched with growing tension. This might not be a friendly meeting.
  10. Murr sighed as El gave him notice of the third tribute on the beach.
  11. He didn't seem to be using it to paddle, though, and if Berin payed attention he could see that the raft stopped moving with the swells.
  12. Murr planted the crudely sharpened end of his paddle into the water, holding himself in place, continuing to watch.
  13. Murr watched them, getting a pretty good look with El's help. I might have to go further out. I can't deal with two people in the water and without a weapon. He caught himself. Only if it comes to that. I can't let myself be comfortable killing. Or even thinking of it. But if they get closer, they'll definitely see the blood, and everyone heard the cannon.
  14. They noticed that he had two Aviars with him, and a third bird flew a bit nearer to them. Murr grit his teeth. I was hoping to be alone tonight. Hopefully they're too far to see the bloodstains... He chose not to answer. He was far enough out that he plausibly might have not heard them. @Exotic Almond
