    As soon as she took a step he started to move with her, as though instinctively. Then he stopped himself, watching with a concerned conflict she could almost feel coming from him.

    TAAron looked at her questioningly. Do you want to be alone? She got a very distinct impression of the question, almost but not quite as if he had spoken into her mind.

    "Yes. He's a kinder master than you would think. But it seems like being disconnected for a while is having an effect."

    "Not... usually. It's complicated. Death doesn't usually kill people, really. He manages the dead. As an avatar, I can do more than he normally can at a human level. I'm on leave right now, though."

    "It was defeated. But there is one other thing." The smile fell. "The terms of my resurrection... I work for Death now. As his avatar."

    Oof, I don't know if I can keep up with this. For now just assume that the guy with the big metal staff is still around, I guess?

    Lerac looked at Haly. "In the time you've been gone, some things happened. I died, for one. But then I came back!" He grinned uncertainly, looking for a moment more like his old self. @Spark of Hope @The Halcyon Girl

    "Yeah. I just have to get back to work soon." He sounded somewhat regretful. TAAron grimaced hearing that.

    "Nothing important." He absent-mindedly touched the sheathed dagger at his belt.

    He looked down. "Oh. That's nothing. Sorry." He pulled the leg free. The thorns scraped and drew blood, but he seemed unbothered.

    Looking around at everyone, Lerac barely seemed to notice that he was making the plants at his feet grow taller and brighter. A thorny vine twisted around one leg. @The Halcyon Girl

    Lerac smiled back. "Well... a lot, sort of."

    Lerac turned to look at them. "Haly! You're back." TAAron smiled awkwardly. "Hi, Aventine. I know Haly from... before Kaos.

    Lerac sat there quietly, clearly unsure about what to do. "Okay." He stopped next to her. "What is it?"

    "You can be angry at me. You should be, probably." "Well... let me know, I guess."

    "Yeah, okay." He took a deep breath, looking at her nervously. "Yes, of course. Is there, uh, anything I can do for you?"

    "Well, there are plenty of people. Just not many that you know, I don't think. Lerac has been around sometimes."
