  1. "It is simply a consequence of using my hands. It won't affect him significantly and will go away in a matter of hours." The frost had now nearly covered the boy's entire body. When he moved, it broke at the spots that twisted, but quickly reformed. The man did, keeping a healthy distance between himself and Tacien.
  2. The man decided to ignore her. The frost continued creeping along the Tacien's face and back. The boy shivered slightly. The man did so, but the shimmering layer kept growing. "I assure you, friend," he said calmly, "that I act in the best interest of the boy. He was about to run out onto the street, where he would no longer have any sort of protection. I was merely avoiding that. Would you like to continue our little test?"
  3. "I am the boy's ally in this. Trust me on that." A layer of frost had crept up on the metal hand that held Tacien, and the frost started spreading to the boy's shoulder. "He didn't appear to want his brother with him, either. By your reasoning, he wants to be alone, out on the streets, and that hardly seems right."
  4. Nothing came through the link except for a vague impression of fear and concern. Tacien gave no reaction to this, instead running past her. Both Cufre and the strange man ran after him, but the strange man got there first, stopping the boy by grabbing him by the shoulder. "Clearly the boy does not agree that this is a safe place to be."
  5. Tacien gagged as the collar dug into his neck. Whipping out his dagger, he cut the cloth that Fadran was holding and made for the exit.
  6. Cufre looked at Nath, a bit perplexed. Suddenly, the boy's eyes widened and he got to his feet, sprinting between the two and out into the lobby.
  7. The boy locked eyes with Nath, expression searching. He turned back to his brother, who appeared to be trying to comfort him, albeit very awkwardly. The man was beginning to look very impatient.
  8. "He's... not doing much. Just sitting." Cufre sat down in front of the boy, and began whispering something in his ear. @Channelknight Fadran
  9. Cufre nodded, and the man tensed. Carefully, the brother opened the door. "Hey, Tacien." The boy was still in a corner of the room, looking bruised and battered. He looked up as Cufre entered, then looked back down with little reaction. Cufre glanced back at Fadran, as though asking what to do now.
  10. "If I go in, and the boy is not afraid of me, will I be permitted to take him to a secure location?"
  11. "Why her? Why not the brother who you are so convinced is telling the truth?" the man asked.
  12. "I still think we should just leave this place, and he can supervise while Tacien gets a chance to display his emotions for each of us."
  13. "I do not believe that my brother is unintelligent. But he is unable to communicate in any direct sense. What is Nath going to ask him?"
  14. "If's he's finally recovered a bit from seeing that person who tried to kill him die, then he should have a visible reaction to each person."
  15. "We should," Cufre agreed. "My brother knows more than we give him credit for, I think." @Channelknight Fadran
  16. Wow! Again! It still says 1 day won for me, though. Odd.

    Anyway, I gotta sleep.
